A try in the dying seconds sealed
the game.
Fantastic memories of such a
wonderful day in Blackpool.
In 2011, Chris’s dreams were
realised when he was linked to
various super league clubs,
with Chris finally signing for
Warrington. As a family we were
overwhelmed with pride, as rugby
had become a way of life for the
whole family, girlfriend, children,
brother, grandmas, future In-laws,
aunties, the whole extended
Hill and O’Neil families.
Chris then went back on loan to
Leigh for the remaining 2011
season.
Writing this now makes us feel full
of pride and the usual tears
from “ Mum”
We feel Chris opened the gates
and showed all championship
players to never give up, that top
level rugby is always possible.
The 2012 season turned out
to be a season beyond all our
expectations, with a challenge cup
winners medal and an international
call up for England. Chris has never
got carried away and has always
been level headed, also thinking
and planning his future after
Rugby.
Chris attended college doing his
plumbing course, subsequently
starting a business with Christian
his business partner, who he met
while at college. In August 2019 he
realised his ambition of opening
a bathroom showroom in
Warrington with 3 other partners.
Chris went on to Captain
Warrington in 2016, which was
a momentous day, following
in Adrian Morley’s footsteps,
who he always aspired to.
As a family we
have followed
Chris home and
away, Grandma
being that eager
to get to Leeds
one wet Friday night, that she
went in her “slippers” much
to the delight of her great
grandchildren who pointed it
out to anyone who would listen.
As a family, we have followed
England Rugby League to
Australia on two occasions, the last
time in 2017 for the World Cup, with
wife Kathryn joining us in Brisbane
30 weeks pregnant with their 4th
child. It was a real family affair, with
Kathryn’s Mum, Dad and brother
enjoying touring Australia and
watching the rugby. Memories that
as a family will never be forgotten.
Chris is a family man with strong
family values which he instills into
his now 5 children, Connor 12,
Oliver 8, Niamh 6, Iris-Kay 3 and
our latest edition Oonagh-Mae
3 months old.
Behind every successful man
is a strong, understanding and
supportive woman. Kathryn,
Chris’s wife has followed Chris
(with all kids in tow) all over
the country and even to the
other side of the world. He couldn’t
ask for a more understanding
wife.
We can say without hesitation, we
have had the time of our life. It has
bought us, as a family, so much
pride and pleaure, meeting
wonderful people both on and
off the pitch. Chris’s love and
passion for the game of rugby
shone through from the age of 5
and still shines as bright today.
Watching his 2 sons play Sunday
League I think we will be doing it all
again!!!!
