Even though we were at peace with ourselves, they settled into our
subconscious and asked us to photoshop photos while sharing
photos on social media. As the photos grew on social media, we
thought that everyone is actually like this, and we are accepted for
correcting our flaws with makeup or shopping when it's not
enough. Social media has not shown us that we can have flaws. It
did not say that you are so beautiful. As a result, now that we have
faced the mirror, we have been able to find a lot of flaws in
ourselves. Although we used to think ourselves beautiful, we
started to feel ugly because of these perceptions. We found
ourselves chasing ever-changing standards. We didn't do it just
because we wanted it ourselves, we did it because others wanted it.
And those others; told us that the real beauty is not ourselves, but
"ourselves", which we change in filters, applications, or a series of
aesthetic operations and finally resemble everyone else.

AWARENESS
We have always had a uniform
perception of beauty. Not only
did we do this, but we also
alienated those who did not fit
into our newly created
perception of beauty. We could
not call those who have a thick
waist beautiful. Because beauty
was about being subtle. We
couldn't call ourselves beautiful
when we had cellulite on our
legs. Because the beauty was to
have smooth legs. Sometimes we
thought it was ugly to be thin:
"Don't you ever eat? We can
count your bones. You're like a
twig."But it didn't occur to us that
that person might be sick. Or we
didn't want to think that he could
be really healthy and be at that
weight.
Because the appearance of that
person did not correspond to the
perception of beauty that we
were taught. Sometimes we also
said that it's ugly to be
overweight: "Why don't you go
on a diet? Actually, you're a
pretty girl if you lose weight.
You're like a whale." But again, it
didn't occur to us that this person
might be perfectly healthy, or
that maybe he would starve
himself for days after we said
that. Because social media has
always shown us one beauty. It
even sent a message that if we
don't comply with it, we have to
change ourselves, even if we
don't want to. And it wouldn't let
us embrace things we hadn't
changed.
