Turtle nesting
season is on!
By Amaryllis Alsina
ProNidos, the turtle patrol group of
volunteers at Palmas Del Mar, was just
activated as the marine turtles nesting
2022 season starts. We are happy to
report that the first Leatherback turtle
of the season nested at the Candelero
beach on March 1st. We are looking
forward to a hopefully active season
with opportunities to protect the
turtle nesting and hatching habitat.
In 2021, we identified about 45 turtle
nests at the Palmas beaches of the
two main species that nest around us,
that is, the Leatherback (Tinglar) and
the Hawksbill (Carey) turtles.
As a reminder, when you visit the beach, please take back with you any objects you may have brought along
such as chairs, garments, etc; dispose of any trash properly; fill up any holes you may have made at the beach and
respect the existing nests. And remember, beaches are off limits at night. We are counting on your support as part
of the Palmas community.
Also, if you can commit to an early morning walk on the beach on a weekly basis, and are interested in joining
ProNidos as a volunteer please contact us at xxx.
It’s very rewarding to be part of the turtle habitat conservation efforts. Join us and see for yourself!
Do’s
• Keep your dogs on leash at all times. Dogs may kill trapped hatchlings and may
dig the nest. They also may chase and disturb other animals on the beach.
• Keep the beach clean of garbage.
• In your house or apartment use turtle friendly lights or turn them off during
nesting season. Turtles get disoriented by artificial lights.
Don’ts
• Do not disturb nests, do not remove flagging and caution tape from nests.
• Do not leave chairs and other equipment on the beach.
• Do not visit the beach during the night. Palmas beaches are closed from sunset to
sunrise.
• Do not approach a nesting turtle, if you find a nesting turtle, stay behind the turtle
at least 30 feet away. If you approach it, you are going to harass it and maybe she
abandon nest attempt.
• Do not touch or pickup hatchlings. Do not carry them, do not put them on water,
let them crawl safely to the water. They need to crawl to the water, that helps them
identify the beach to return as adults.
• Do not drive golf carts or ATV s on the beach.
• Do not leave holes at the beach, hatchlings could get trapped in them. Please fill
the holes when you leave the beach.
• Do not make bonfires.
If you find hatchlings or a nesting turtle, please call Palmas Security (787) 930-9499.
Federal and State law prohibits harassment, persecution, killing, transporting, selling, or buying sea turtle products or parts
of sea turtles, disturbing nests or hatchlings is punishable with fines up to $100,000 and or imprisonment.

Why Palmas?
The Stevens Family
By Allan Stevens
Living in Puerto Rico was part of our plan from the moment
we learned about it. We didn’t know when or how,
and we had barely even set foot on this magical little
island. But the lure of a Caribbean adventure, incentives
for our business, the opportunity to explore a new part
of the world and a different culture were enticing.
In 2018, I visited Puerto Rico for the first time. A member
of an ecommerce sellers group I belonged to had
recently bought a place in Dorado Beach East
and opened his home to about 30 of us.
We came from all over the world and
just like me, many of these guys had
never been to Puerto
Rico before. We hit
the usual touristy
spots, ate at great
restaurants and
chartered a catamaran out to the desolate tropical paradise
of Culebrita in between networking and learning
about Puerto Rico living. After my stay in Dorado
I couldn’t imagine wanting anything else. An exclusive,
luxurious, Ritz Carlton Reserve property in a prime location.
But even before the recent post-covid real estate
boom, the most basic accommodations inside the gates
of Dorado were a stretch. I headed home, knowing that
Puerto Rico would play a role in our future.
About a year later the pandemic began to unfold and
in the early days, we transitioned our Santa Barbara office
to a remote work environment and found that our
team was more productive and much more content
working from home. Once we made the decision to
permanently close our office, the opportunity to live
and work anywhere in the world materialized and Puerto
Rico was within reach.
We started our online research and found information
about family friendly communities outside of Dorado.
We found Entrepreneurs on Fire, Jen there Done That,
The Prince Family and Lana Shafler sharing their Puerto
Rico move experiences. And then came the video: “Palmas
Del Mar: The Best Place To Live in Puerto Rico,”
produced by Palmas residents Lee Morris and Patrick
Hall. Ricardo Casillas was featured speaking about the
neighborhood while various people from Palmas moved
around in slow motion through picturesque scenes at
the beach, athletic club, hiking trails and more and went
on to include testimonials about the community and
why moving to Palmas was the best decision they had
ever made. This sort of over-the-top marketing had us
hook line and sinker.
In May of 2020 I forwarded the Palmas video to a
friend, Franky Farina, along with an example listing for
a house on Harborview and asked if he wanted to join
me on an exploratory trip. We toured the community
in June and on the second day of our trip, Franky made
an offer on a house. I thought to myself “well sh*t, I
guess it’s happening then” and called up my wife to let
her know we also would be moving soon. We found a
beautiful house on Shell Castle Road that Lillian Gonzales
of Elite Real Estate had just listed and moved quickly

to secure it under contract.
We hustled and made
it here in September of
2020.
Franky and myself are both part of
the same group of ecommerce sellers,
the “Million Dollar Sellers or MDS”, that had visited
Dorado back in 2018. The group has grown to about
500 sellers that are scattered about all over the world.
We began posting photos and videos of our trips to
Palmas in our private Facebook group the moment we
knew the move was happening. Each of us spent the
next 3 months fielding phone calls from friends in the
group who were curious about our decision to move.
We’d answer their questions and then share Lee and
Patrick’s video shortly after the conversation. By September,
9 more friends from our group had been convinced
that living in the Caribbean, a golf cart ride away
from friends was the life they wanted as well. By the
end of the year, all of them had packed up and sold everything
and moved their families to Palmas to join us
in the community. The number has grown to about 15
today, only slowing due to limited real estate inventory
and house prices that make it a bigger decision today.
It takes a fearless and adventurous individual to sell
everything they own, say goodbye to the comforts and
certainty of an established life and move their family to
the other side of the earth at the height of a worldwide
pandemic. But that’s what we did and in doing so, we
have found an incredible tribe of like-minded game
changers who have also taken
that leap of faith. Embarking
upon this adventure
has led us to a place we are
proud to call home and we
can’t imagine building a life
and raising our family anywhere
else. If someone were
to tell me that 3 years after
joining MDS, I would live on
a tropical Caribbean Island
in the same neighborhood
as 15 amazing MDS families
and hundreds of other entrepreneurs,
I never would have
believed it. But fast forward
and here we are!
Today, we spend our time
enjoying the lush backyard
and pool area that Ivan from
Pura Vida remodeled last year. We have been exploring
the island and have joined various interest groups in
our community. Our two daughters Charlie (age 10) and
Emma (age 6) are currently homeschooled and will likely
attend The Palmas Academy in the future.
With such a vibrant and welcoming community, we’re
excited to see what the future has in store for Palmas
Del Mar. s
the PRESIDENT SAYS!
PHA IS FORMED BY ALL OF US OWNERS
PALMAS DEL MAR HOMEOWN-
ERS ASSOCIATION (PHA) exists for
the homeowners. The certificate
of incorporation states that PHA is
a non-for-profit corporation which
was created “to provide and ensure
for the preservation of values and
amenities and to own, maintain and
administer the common properties,
services and facilities in the Palmas
del Mar Community”.
PHA is formed by all of us owners
and there can’t be any issue as to
the real purpose of PHA. PHA is us,
working for us and having us as the
objective. In doing so the preservation of values and
amenities is a primary obligation. That is why PHA in
addition to maintaining its property has in place agreements
with the city of Humacao which authorize us to
provide maintenance to public property. PHA does that
because the preservation of the quality of life in Palmas
is our primary goal.
For the past year I have had the benefit of a dream
team by my side. I have worked side by side with Mr.
Enrique Alejandro, Mr. Miguel Santiago, Mr. Jorge Manrique
and Mr. Tony Maldonado. Mr. Alejandro is a certified
public accountant and finance expert with over 38
years of experience in the industry; Mr. Santiago is an
engineer and founding father of our ARB; Mr. Manrique
is an attorney with over 45 years of experience and Mr.
Maldonado was our past Executive Director. I can assure
you that they as the PHA Board’s Executive Committee
have given their best and will continue to do so if
they are given the opportunity.
These lines are to be published after the 2022 Homeowners
Week and the election process to be conducted
by the PHA Board (Class A and B members) for the
board positions. It is my wish that all the PHA Board
members at the time of the election of the Board President,
Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer put the
community first. If not remember that we the owners are
the members of PHA and therefore PHA exists because
of us. The quote of PHA Certificate of Incorporation
article fifth has the keyword community. In that sense
that is why we must defend our community. PHA cannot
become the promoter of other interests which are
not the community’s interest. We as homeowners must
join together and defend ourselves and our community.
Therefore, we must move forward and participate. PHA
needs its homeowners and we as homeowners need a
strong PHA to defend us.
Your neighbor and friend,
Erasmos Reyes
Letter of Intent
PHA announces that a “Letter of Intent” has been signed
with the companies Siemens and Ensysa to explore the
viability of more efficient, cleaner and cheaper alternatives
to produce energy. This first step is aimed at studying
and developing what eventually would be our energy
“grid.” “The aim is for Palmas del Mar to have an independent
source of energy in a production field with clean
and modern resources that in turn translate into monetary
savings on our bills,” said Lic. Erasmo Reyes, president
of Palmas Homeowners Association during the signing of
the agreement of intent, an agreement that aims to study
the viability of this project. This study should be completed
within approximately 12 to 14 months. s

Rip currents can be found
every day at surf beaches
throughout the U.S. and Puerto
Rico. Under most tide and sea
conditions, the speeds are relatively
slow. However, under
certain wave, tide, and beach
profile conditions the speeds
can quickly increase to become
dangerous to anyone entering
the surf. The strength and
speed of a rip current will likely
increase as wave height and
wave period increase.
According to the United
States Lifesaving Association,
NOAA and National Weather
Service statistics Rip Currents
are the leading surf hazard to all beach goers. Over 100 drownings
due to Rip Currents occur every year in the United States and more than
48,000 of the people rescued from drowning are due to rip currents.
These currents are particularly dangerous for weak or non-swimmers.
Rip current speeds are typically 1-2 feet per second but speeds as high
as 8 feet per second have been measured. They are invisible to the untrained
eye and can happen without warning.
To avoid becoming a victim of a rip current you should learn how to
swim in the surf or the beach. It is not the same as swimming in a pool
or a lake. Look for posted signs and warning red flags which indicate
higher than usual hazards. Obey all instructions and warnings provided
by the beach patrols and always assume rip currents are present even
if you don’t see them.
Experts recommend that if caught in a rip current, try to remain calm
to conserve energy. Don’t fight the current; think of it like an aquatic
treadmill you can’t turn off. You want to step to the side of it. Swim
across the current in a direction following the shoreline. When out of
the current, swim and angle away from the current and towards shore.
If you can’t escape this way, try to
float or calmly tread water. Rip
currents eventually subside offshore
and, when it does, swim toward
shore. If at any time you feel
you will be unable to reach shore,
draw attention to yourself: face the
shore, wave your arms and yell for
help.
You can help someone caught in
a rip current getting the attention
of the beach patrol or a lifeguard.
If no beach patrol or lifeguard is
available have someone call Palmas
Security at 787-852-7745
/852-7775 or 911. Throw the rip
current victim something that
floats such as lifejacket, a cooler or
a ball and yell instructions on how to escape. Remember many have
drowned trying to help others. Don’t become a victim while trying to
Dog Rules
Palmas residents and visitors are reminded that the restrictive covenants
of our community prohibit dogs from running loose anywhere in
Palmas del Mar. All dogs must be leashed and their owners responsible
for cleaning after their pets. Habitual violators of these restrictions will
be subject to fines by PHA.
Often dogs are seen loose at the beach or in residential areas scaring
children, beachgoers, joggers, and walkers. Please keep in mind that a
dog may be very docile with the owner but you cannot guarantee how
he will react to a stranger or to another person. Also, a child can fall and
hurt himself while running away from a seemingly playful dog chasing
after him.
Please enjoy the company of your pet while helping to keep the entire
community safe and happy. And remember...we have now a DOG PARK,
let your dog run free in a controlled environment. The dog park is situated
next to the Children’s Park. s

PDM UTILITY ...
MORE THAN A WATER COMPANY
Eng. Daniel E. Torrellas Cruz 1
During the 70’s, the residential-tourist
complex Palmas del Mar in the municipality
of Humacao was designed and started construction.
With the Development Master Plan
running, the growth that was gradually taking
place had to be adjusted to the infrastructure
system that had already been conceptualized
with the creation of the Palmas del Mar
Utility Corporation (PDMU Corp.).
Palmas del Mar Utility is an independent
and non-profit corporation that emerged in
the 70s with the purpose of developing the
necessary infrastructure for the Palmas de
Mar complex. As part of its creation, this corporation
obtained a franchise from the Public
Service Commission in 1974 to operate an
aqueduct and sanitary sewer system for the
total development of the 2,800 acres that
make up what is today the property of Palmas
del Mar. Palmas del Mar Utility serves a combined
community that includes recreational,
tourist and residential (3,400 housing units),
hotels, marinas, a tennis court complex, two
golf courses, a school, 20 restaurants, and an
equestrian center, among other facilities.
PDMU operates two main systems: 1) a
potable water distribution system, which receives
potable water from the PR Aqueduct
and Sewer Authority (PRASA), and 2) a treatment
plant with 5 pump stations that collect
and transport all the effluent from the houses,
hotel, golf club, equestrian center, and all
the properties and activities that are carried
out within Palmas to the treatment plant.
THE WATER SUPPLY
We receive all of our potable water from
the PRASA (Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados,
AAA in Spanish) at our Pump Station
#359, located in Buena Vista Ward, behind
EZ Waste Facility. From that station, we
increase the received flow pressure in order
to assure enough flow gets into Palmas for
water distribution and also be able to deposit
part of it inside the Reservoir Tanks located at
Harbour Lights. The water is pumped thru a
1.6 Km/ 16” line that runs along PR 923 until
reaching our metering facility. From that
point, potable water system starts the distri-
bution process inside the development (See
Fig. 1). Our system works with high water
pressures. In that way, we can have enough
flow for regular consumption and reservoir
replenish. The 2.1 million gallons reservoir
tanks work as part of a floating system where
water that gets in will be used as part of the
community daily consumption. Under an
emergency situation, the reservoir can supply
2-3 days of NORMAL Consumption. We
are replenishing the consumed water continuously.
Being a Consecutive PRASA System,
we are not allowed to add anything to the
potable water received from them. Our authorization
is only for distribution. That is the
main reason we cannot store water without
circulation for more than 24-30 hours. We are
obligated to perform bi-weekly testing to corroborate
water quality, using an independent
laboratory certified by PRASA.

THE WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT (WWTP)
The Palmas de Mar Treatment Plant consists
of a central facility and a total of five
pumping stations that collect and bring
effluent from all the facilities/houses in the
complex into the WWTP Since its inception,
the plant operates with a zero-discharge
permit issued by the Environmental Quality
Board (Now Department of Natural Resources
& Environmental, DRNA). The model of
the treatment plant established in 1980’s is
a completely aerobic operation plant with
biological reactors, sludge digesters and clarifiers,
which treat and produce all the effluent
that reaches the retention lagoons identified
within the permit, to then be used in irrigation.
NO chemicals are used for the wastewater
treatment. NO treated water is deposited
in Wetlands, creeks, river or any other State
water body. (See Fig.3)
Before getting into the ponds, the treated
water passes into the disinfection tanks to
receive as part of the secondary treatment
the injection of chlorine, while the sludge is
treated by a digestion system. Digested and
drained sludge is the main element to generate
the compost that is used in the garden
areas within the complex. Since 2009 Palmas
del Mar Utility uses for disinfection, a system
known as MIOX. This is a system where a solution
of water with salt passes through plates
and by electrolysis there is a separation of
sodium and chlorine.
Chlorine is injected into
the water and in aqueous
sodium solution is
returned to the plant. Low
risk and an efficient way to
disinfect. When the water
is already disinfected, that
effluent is discharged into
sedimentation or polishing
ponds and is used by Golf operations for
irrigation purposes. In terms of impact on
the environment and health, the use of this
treated wastewater needs to comply with the
parameters and standards established by
the DRNA on our Operation Permit. Monthly
testing needs to be submitted to DRNA on a
quarterly basis.
COLLATERAL
BENEFITS OF THE
TREATMENT SYSTEM
Another benefit that Palmas del Mar Utility
obtains from the operation of the treatment
plant of the Palmas de Mar facilities is the
use of sludge for the manufacture of compost.
The digested sludge is drained into the
drying beds first and then mixed with the
grounds/garden waste that is collected within
the complex. This mixture is left in the drying
beds so that dewatering continues and
then it is taken to the yard, placed in piles
and classified by month, monitoring its temperature.
At the end of 90 days, it is screened
and ready for sale. The obtained results of
this compost certify how useful for Palmas
del Mar landscapers and general public this
resultant material is. (See Fig. 4)
The 40 plus years that Palmas de Mar Utility
has been managing a potable water distribution
system, using treated wastewater for
the irrigation of golf courses and generating
compost as a by-product from the treated water
sludge, are a clear example that the reuse
of treated waters is viable and reliable for domestic
use as it is for agro-industrial projects.
Efficient potable water management, re-use
of water, recycling vegetative material and
MIOX disinfection proves that PDMU is aware
of their role on this community. That’s why
we can say that PDMU is more than a Water
company. We are a community member and
an integral part of the Palmas del Mar actual
status and future development.
¹ Daniel Torrellas Cruz is the Executive Director
of PDM Utility Corp. He has a Civil Engineering
degree from UPR -Mayaguez and has been
part of the Palmas del Mar Working Environment
since 1999, being in PDMU since 2010.

when ART meets
ARCHITECTURE &
INTERIOR DESIGN
By Raúl Zurinaga, Architect
Societies tend to identify a certain portion of the objects
they produce qualifying it as invaluable and it is in
this selection that we can find works of art. These privileged
objects, plastic products, are likely to be extracted
from the world of forms to enter the world of the concrete
and be exhibited both in a public space (museum
or gallery) and in the privacy of the home.
Many people spend a significant amount of time and
resources building a private art collection that they only
display at home. It would seem that by owning a certain
piece, they become the owners of the aesthetic experience
that it provokes. Of course, this happens internally
and is of a subjective nature, since each person
perceives different things in works of art and
it is that people can develop such a rapport
with the pieces of art that they end up experiencing
them in a very intimate way.
Another reason why people acquire pieces
of art is because of the status they confer. Although
this is a less spiritual reason, investing in art is
Raúl Zurinaga, Architect
& William Quetzalcóal, invited artist
Painting - Suavecito from Quetzalcóal

“When I create I don’t do it
with a space in mind, I truly
don’t care if it matches the
color of the sofa. For me
it’s about the process of
discovery and a message
that I want to express. I
think art is a spark to start a
conversation; that’s why its
so important to get to know
the owners of the artwork
and to have the opportunity
to interact and let them
know the story behind their
acquisition.”
EDUARDO CABRER
generally considered as a gesture of good taste that
speaks of a superior cultural category. In any case, when
the work of art is contextualized in a home, as opposed
to an exhibition area, such as a museum, where every aspect
of the space has been controlled and subordinated
to the presence of the piece, it is related to the rest of
the things that are found there and if some kind of logical
order is not established between the decorative set,
the results can be inconvenient.
Art always stands out
The evolution of societies, by itself, a plastic process
in which each everyday object contains an aesthetic
meaning. To each change in ideology or the value of
humanity corresponds a transformation of tastes and
the definition of beauty. This phenomenon is perfectly
clear in fashions, architectural styles and, in general, in
any object produced by design.
Better indicators of aesthetic processes are works of
art in which beauty is accompanied by knowledge to
acquire much more complex meanings than those contained
in any other object. The multiple dimensions in
the art piece make it a definitive coordinate in space.
To explain why any piece of art becomes a point of
interest wherever it is placed, we must discover some of
the effects it has.
We could start with the emotional reaction that the
Art is a source of entertainment, thanks
to its ability to communicate and its
presence, which produce a cascade
of enjoyable emotions in one way or
another. To this extent, art works as
a spatial diversion, since it creates a
network of sensations that would not be
formed otherwise. Considered in this way,
it is understandable that art always stands
out within any group of objects..
work of art has in those who contemplate it; this provokes
a state of mind, a series of valuable emotions that
enriches the environment or atmosphere of the place
where it is located.
That is why it is said that art, unlike any other object,
allows the creation of a situation of emotional discharge
developed from those who experience the idea it contains,
since art generates phenomena in the lives of
those who are in contact with it.
From another point of view, the different forms of art
can function as a kind of abstract language since it is a
system of signs that complies with the communication
scheme, because it has a transmitter, a code and a receiver.
Even during times of materialistic ideas, in which
all human activity has to have a practical justification, art
is recognized as a language that communicates with the
spirit in an intangible way.
In addition to all this, art is a source of entertainment,
thanks to its ability to communicate and its presence,
which produce a cascade of enjoyable emotions in one
way or another. To this extent, art works as a spatial di-
version, since it creates a network of sensations that
would not be formed otherwise. Considered in this way,
it is understandable that art always stands out within
any group of objects.
Art and Decoration
Perhaps you see aesthetic theorists agree with this as
mundane application of art as its decorative function.
Many academics maintain that pure art does not pursue
any particular purpose but is free. On the contrary, other
connoisseurs of the matter maintain that art has very
clear functions.
In any case, although the work of art is not an artifact,
it may have a purpose, that is, an end beyond the
work itself. When a piece of this nature is placed within
a decorative ensemble, it is related to its surroundings,
acquiring functions that it did not have before.
“For me living is art. Every corner
of my home has to inspire me. The
colors, the shape of every object,
the stairs that take me to another
level. The doors that I open to
let the air and its good energy to
come in. Art is very personal, so
is every home. Happiness is very
personal, so is every smile we
give. Design is everywhere there
is an open mind and creativity is
the ability to live with it.”
An Object embodies the space, whether or not it is made of a refined plastic, since this is something
intangible that is made perceptible by the things that exist within it, this is the first function of
art within interior design. Furthermore, the work of art with its mere presence can suggest or impose,
as the case may be, a certain arrangement of space.
“My art pretends to
capture in mud all the
emotions that objects or
animals produce around
us.There is an emotion
that is provoked when
looking at an image
of a horse, a bunch of
bananas or a little bottle.
Art is emotion!
LUIS IVORRA
“Art stimulates
us. Through
colors, forms
and images it
inspires, calms
and center us.
It’s company in
our environments
unwon places
DIANA DÁVILA

White creates space! White walls make a room feel more
spacious by reflecting more light. It also gives a clean, fresh
and sophisticated feeling. And... If you have a large piece of
art white is the perfect canvas! Furniture by Ambiente Moderno.
By standing out, due to its superior character, from the
object context in which it is found, a piece of art generates
space within space. This means that it becomes an
important reference that dimensions, sections and can
even, if the piece is large enough, alter the scale of the
place.
For this reason, when placing a work of art, it is desirable
to find the exact place so that it can complement the
space by interacting with it in the manner of a coherent
dialogue. When art is placed in such a way that it competes
with the rest of the objects that occupy the space
(furniture or decorations in the case of being exhibited
in the home), a stridency is generated that affects the
atmosphere of the room and downplays the piece of art.
Knowing how to handle decoration lies in locating the
piece of art in a privileged area where it shines by itself,
but also contributes and enhances the things with which
it shares the site, since harmony is a successful decoration.
the parts and the whole are fundamental.
Talking about Art Planning and Installation, Carlos
Faure from Biaggi & Faure Gallery stated they offer
professional art planning consultation and installation
services: “We provide the tools, techniques, and strategies
you will need to design unique, stylish and vibrant
spaces”.
They also offer on-site presentations such as private
art presentations at a flexible schedule. “We can visit
your home or office with a customized selection of our
extensive inventory of artwork for a complimentary onsite
private viewing and art planning consultation”, he
stated. They also offer delivery, moving and worldwide
shipping. They have had the privilege and joy of living
surrounded by art. ”We have had the privilege and joy
of living, for the last 30 years, surrounded by art and of
gaining profound knowledge and understanding of one
of life’s most important vehicles of human expression.
Our work has been strictly guided by our deep passion
and commitment for art collecting.” Faure emphasized.

Art and Architecture
So important is the atmosphere generated by a place
that currently architecture and interior design consider
creating environments as one of their highest goals. For
an architect, the environment implies everything that
happens within the space. Where the sun rises or sets,
how heat and cold are distributed, how the horizon line
is perceived or what relationship a certain space has
with the urban context, these are just a few samples of
the aspects that the interior design to create an environment.
The work of the architect is not only to design the
projects but also to suggest how they will be inhabited.
And this includes sharing the space with art.
Within the spatial spectacle that is architecture, art occupies
a leading role, so when an architect knows that
a piece of art is going to be in a certain place, he tries
to make the most of its characteristics with the intention
of achieving a flattering atmosphere for the piece.
In fact, when it is intended to exhibit a piece of art in the
home, it is advisable to request the advice of an interior
designer who establishes a control in the architectural
aspects of the place. The secret to having a work of art
at home lies in considering it more than an aesthetic
object as another inhabitant of the place.
Art coexists with people within the space and, just
like them, it needs dynamic considerations in its habitat.
And it is that we must remember that any group of
objects contains in itself, a series of values that arise as
a result of the bond with the people who own them and
not even the pieces of art are the exception.
.
Art by Nestor Paoli
“The idea of integration between art and architecture dates to the
very origin of the disciplines. Art meets Architecture, takes a new
meaning with a cultural and social purpose during the Avant-Garde
Movement early in the 20th century, becoming one of the most
defining characteristics of Modernism. Architects and artists need to
have the experience and creativity to precisely know how art and
architecture blends to create a synthesis, much more than a sum of
its parts. Places and built spaces can be both, physically efficient and
aesthetically pleasing but it requires projection and a good planning.
It’s important that the context be taken into account; as much
as in terms of the individual space, the local geography, climate,
culture and what the client wants to express. History shows that
built architectural environments can become extraordinary
by a well thought out art; creating visually stunning
environments to delight and stimulate our senses
and well-being”.
NÉSTOR PAOLI

They have always been in the market but now the track lights
are back in fashion but with new LED technology. These are
from the SATCO line, available at IMPEC.
The Interior Designer and the Architect
As an interior designer I always recommend to work
directly with an architect on a project.
The architect will design taking into account the
needs of the client...take into consideration the building
codes and other rules and regulation during construction.
On the other hand an interior designer brings
creativity to the job in addition to technical knowledge
once a building is constructed. The designer is called on
to furnish and accessorize the empty interiors, keeping
in mind the needs, lifestyle, preferences and budget of
the client. Details like selecting materials, furniture, wall
design, color scheme, accessories and more fall within
the scope of the designer.
For an architect, its an asset to work with an interior
designer because they will work with space planning
and furniture layout, deciding the location of doors, windows,
electricity and plumbing.
• Architects design and deliver the complete building.
A designer tries to create the desired look/mood/feel
within the building.
• An architect is trained to build a structure that abides
by certain codes, rules and measurements, while making
sure the building is functional. Whereas, an interior designer
takes care of creating appealing interiors that are
suited for its inhabitant.
• Architects focus on more technical aspects like form
of a building, direction, materials, etc. An interior designer
focuses on aspects like human wants and needs,
functionality of the space and aesthetics.
• If you have a structure ready and need to decorate
the interior, then you hire an interior designer.
• If you have an empty plot and need to construct a
building from scratch, or need to renovate, then you
should hire an architect.
For a new home, you will need both professionals…
one in the beginning, and one after construction is
complete. s
“A designer tries to create the desired look/mood/feel within the building.
An interior designer focuses more on aspects like human wants and needs,
functionality of the space and aesthetics".
Steve Santiago, Kathy Burleson, Esteban Santiago, Cecilia Virsida,
Rafael Nigaglioni your local Insurance brokers
Conditions and particularities of the
personal property coverage
A homeowner’s policy or personal package usually includes coverage
for your structure (if it’s not an apartment), your personal
property, and public liability (damages to third parties). The personal
property coverage covers your personal items that are not
attached to the structure, such as: furniture, clothing, appliances
(fridge, stove, washer and dryer), electronics (televisions, stereos,
computers), decorations (carpets and curtains), dishes, among
others.
Now, one would think that setting a high limit on personal property
policy would cover all of your contents. This is not necessarily
the case. Insurance companies typically place a limit on personal
property coverage. For example, your company may place a
limit per item on securities, jewelry, watches, etc. from $1,500 to
$2,000; $2,500 to $3,000 for firearms; $2,500 to $3,000 for silver
items, among others. These amounts, you can see, may vary by
insurance company. Some companies even limit fine arts. If your
company limits works of art, it is important that you get valuations
from professional appraisers or certified experts.
In any case, if you have in your residence any high-value item
that exceeds $1,500, your best alternative is to buy an additional
coverage that allows you to make a schedule to make sure those
items are properly insured. That schedule should contain the value
of the unit, along with evidence of its cost. Evidence can be in the
form of an appraisal, valuation, certificate of authenticity, etc. In
this way, you will be entering into an agreement with the insurance
company so that at the time of a loss the company will not be
able to argue the value of those items. Among the items that insurance
companies provide for you to include in a schedule are the
following: jewelry, furs, cameras, musical instruments, silverware,
golf equipment, works of art, stamps, rare coins and wines. There
is even a miscellaneous category where you can include some
high value item not mentioned above.
In addition to listing your high value property on schedule, it is
also important to maintain evidence (receipts) of the cost of that
personal property that has an above-average value. That is, if you
own a sofa valued at $10,000, your best way to establish with the
company that they should not compare that furniture with one say
valued at $1,000, is to demonstrate your purchase receipt.
Another important aspect when insuring your personal property is
to add replacement cost coverage. Personal property coverages
are usually made at actual cash value. This means that the company
will apply depreciation to your personal property at the time
of a loss. The replacement cost coverage prevents the company
from applying depreciation to your property.
For more information about this and other coverages
you can stop by our office at Palmanova Plaza Suite 119-C, call us at
YIA
NEW CHEF AT WYNDHAM
By Lissette Rosado, Editor
Her real name is Gymara Medina
but due to problems with
pronunciation they call her Yia-- it
was easier. Originally from Isabela,
and from a big family, she was
forced to leave after Hurricane
Maria. She was chef at the Ritz
Carlton Reserve, but the hotel
was destroyed by Maria, thus she
became unemployed. After two
months, they decided to send
their three kids with her family to
Texas so that she could finish her
academic year. During this time
they were sleeping in their car,
on the hotel premises. “The hotel,
in exchange for our work of picking
up debris, allowed us use the
showers, prepared food for us and
provide us with wifi,” Chef Medina
tells us. The hotel then relocated
her to the Dallas Ritz Carlton.
SURPRISE
YOUR PALATE!
Her career as a chef...
Yia didn’t study culinary arts; it
was life who took her there. She
just listened to the signs. “Never
in my life had I thought I was
going to end up as a chef! I came
from a musical family, so I thought
I was going to be a singer but then
decided to study Education at the
UPR to be an English as a Second
Language teacher, which I did for
five years. But again, I realized
that I hadn’t found my place in
the world. I realized that I hadn’t
found what would wake me up every
morning enthusiastically,” Yia
says. So, she decided to pursue
her passion. Or so she thought.
At this point she decided to study
criminology and law! But, as a student,
she worked as a waitress in a
restaurant. “Until this point, I had
never cooked anything, not even
a Chef Boyardee spaghetti can,”
she said and laughed. But life had
other plans for Yia. One day, one
of the chefs got mad in the kitchen
and left. Yia thought to herself, “I
have been observing how they do
this for years, it should not be that
hard!” And she did it!!! She went
to the kitchen and by imitation
and years of observations started
doing it. When she put on that
apron for the first time... it was
a revelation. She understood, at
that moment, that this is what she
wanted to do in her life!
This time, she didn’t go back
to school; she became an autodidact.
She started from zero but her
passion for the kitchen gave her
numerous opportunities—things
she never dreamt of. “I learned
a lot at the Ritz Carlton. I worked
with a chef that not only taught
me a lot of cooking, but he always
told me: ‘Anybody could follow a
recipe. The hard part is the administrative
part of the kitchen—it is
what many chefs don’t learn, and
it is what makes them fail.’ He
made me look at the numbers,
analyze the food cost, employees,
“When I wore
that apron for the
first time...it was
like a revelation I
understood...this
is what I want to
do in my life!"

FOOD NETWORK
KITCHEN
expenses etc. That’s given me an
advantage many chefs don’t have.
I am thankful for that.”
She became an observer, she
traveled to learn, and she even
worked backstage at the Food
Channel. “It’s a very competitive
world, and you have to be always
learning and creating.”
Another aspect of her development
as chef was the experience
of being forced to leave Puerto
Rico. “I was so sad. Being separated
from my kids, from all my family…we
lost everything. I arrived
in Texas with a backpack and the
shoes I was wearing, nothing else.
The rest is history.” Yia worked
as an Executive Chef at Le Cirque
and at El Bellagio both ranked
among the best restaurants in the
world.
“That nostalgia made me cling
more to what Puerto Rico is. This
sparked my creativity and made
me look for inspiration in the
things I saw. The colors…I learned
to see the colors of my island and
to create dishes. I discovered that
creativity is what makes you different.
I learned to play with food,
(contrary to what they teach us at
home). I learned about French,
Italian cuisine, etc. and made my
own dishes. I have a saying that
goes: If you tell me I can’t do it I’m
going to do it twice and I’m going
to take pictures.”
The role of the female chef
In this industry, women are underestimated.
It is a male dominated
industry. One would think that
women own the kitchen but ironically
this is not the case. There are
many additional pressures that
men do not have. “Many times, I
went to job interviews that asked
me if I was married and if I had
children, something that they
wouldn’t even think to ask men.
Instead of getting frustrated, I
turned it into something positive
and a teaching moment for my
daughters and my son (15, 11
and 7 years old) -- you can have
it all! You can be a mother and a
professional.
The come back
“I was in another interview for a
hotel in Miami when they called
me from the Wyndham Palmas,
Puerto Rico. When they told me
it was to work in Palmas del Mar
and they showed me pictures, I
immediately said yes!” The rest
is history. Within three weeks, Yia
was back in her adored Puerto
Rico and in Palmas.
Yia’s plans for us
She began with re-imagining
everything about the hotels’
restaurants, starting with the
transformation of the Lobby Café
that will be based on the history of
coffee in PR.
Every space has its story, every
space has a story to tell. The main
restaurant is called Trova because
the trova is an improvisation,
like the food, which arises from
inspiration. “I want to use local
products as much as possible,
and thanks to the Farmers Market
I have been able to contact
many local producers and support
them, putting them on the
menu.” At night, Trova becomes -
T - a fine dining restaurant, based
on dishes to share. Everything is
designed to be shared. “After all,
the most important decisions in
history have been made around
a table, that’s how important food
is,” she stated.
Food affects the spirit...
Food, as we know, is essential, it
can change a person’s mood. “I experienced
it when Hurricane Maria.
When I was there with José Andrés
who started the World Center Kitchen,
I saw how a sandwich changes a person’s
life. I joined them. I’ve been with
World Center Kitchen for 5 years—travelling
with them to wherever we are
needed. I spent two weeks with them
during the earthquakes in southern PR
working under a tent providing food to
12,000 people every day because one
day they did it for me. Food, apart from
the stomach, affects the spirit. When
I was in the US they made me some
pickled guineitos (green bananas)…I
burst into tears. It reminded me of
my grandmother’s guineitos. Food
transports you, brings back memories,
experiences from the past.”
Sushi in sight
“We are going to have a Sushi
restaurant where the Wine Cellar is.
Something small, exclusive, where
our customers can witness how the
chef prepares dishes, all fresh in
front of them.”
The oven returns...
The pool oven is returning with
new things besides pizza.
We keep inventing. We are open
to new ideas and projects. The sky is
the limit and Yia doesn’t believe in
impossibilities. s

A WELL ORQUESTRATED
PLAN TO CELEBRATE
Madame Valerie’s
Birthday!..
A few months ago, Isabel Álamo shared with a group of very close
friends the idea of celebrating Valerie’s Birthday. It was time to serve
who served us for years!!! Valerie has dedicated her life to serve the
community in a very special way at one of the most beloved restaurants
in Palmas Del Mar, Chez Daniel. Immediately, all agreed. And then...the
secret plan began!
LA CASA DEL FUTÓN
SOFÁ CAMA
The challenge
How to take her to the venue without her finding out that it was her
birthday celebration? It was a difficult job organized by her husband,
Frank Arnould, that came up with the excuse of a delivery
order to Ivette & Cucho’s home and took her there.
But... then how to make her get out of the car and enter
the house? This required Ivette’s communication
skills to convince her to get out of the car and enter
her house “just 10 minutes” to have a glass of champagne
that Cucho had already opened. Surprise!! All of
her friends were waiting for her, including her dearest
daughter, who was also having
her birthday and whom they were
supposed to visit in San Juan.
The queen of the night was Valerie accompanied
by her husband Frank Arnould
and their beautiful daughter Aurelie. What a
special night! it was full of love, friendship,
fun, good food and great wine! s
With greatest concerns I address our Palmas del Mar Homeowners Association,
involving safety concerns related to operational guidelines expected
from Golf Cart users, specifically referencing a signed Agreement
((PHA/Golf Cart Owner)) that outlines their usage at PHA common areas
and paths.
As witnessed with enclosed video, gross negligent operations of golf
carts at Palmas del Mar constitutes an inherit danger to occupants, causing
injuries beyond first aid, and many times broken limbs and head traumas.
Last weekend (26/27MAR22) our security staff, and local emergency
response units, were called to manage two (2) different golf cart injuries
involving minors, and adults., as operators. Both cases resulted in Golf
Carts overturned sideways at uncontrollable speeds. A total of seven (7)
passengers suffered injuries, described by attending paramedics as broken
limbs, head traumas and minor injuries.
Our community can’t remain silent, nor without action, while these injuries
are taking place. A collective and appropriate response is needed.
I will not impose bias stricter guidelines, nor will our PHA security staff
arbitrarily be able to prevent unsafe operation of Golf Carts. Our collective
goal shall center in preserving the integrity of our kids, families and visitors
that enjoy Palmas del Mar. Golf carts, when employed correctly, in a
safe manner, and with appropriate precautionary measures, constitute an
amenable family event at Palmas del Mar.
As a result, PHA Staff will spearhead a special committee, involving
key members of our community, insurance agents, security staff and TPA
representatives. The committee’s principal tasking will be to evaluate
Golf Cart accident data, in order to allocate and/or modify Golf Cart usage
guidelines, with recommended actions to be implemented.
Regardless of future actions, as I move forward with engaging a more
aggressive method geared towards preventing golf cart accidents, I must
recommend to each family that owns, operates and/or rents golf carts, to
conduct a “SELF-OPERATIONAL SAFETY CHECK.” Recommended “safety
check” shall include full familiarization with Golf Cart Operational functionalities,
limited operability, driving parameters, speeds, weather conditions,
etc., as an immediate means to avoid potential injuries. Golf Cart
engine/speed modifications are prohibited.
These matters will remain pending as our community awaits the recommendation
of designated committee. Any potential changes to our
current Golf Cart Use Agreement will be notified to our community. Comments
pertaining this communication can be forwarded to “palmaspha@
gmail.com”.

Palmas’ twins launch
bilingual children’s book
The book “Haciendo Olas-Making Waves” is their first
publication and consists of a bilingual illustrated book
that seeks to empower and motivate children of all ages.
Joanne López Ponzio y Caroll Lopez are two Puerto Rican
twin sisters, who in their literary works are behind the
pseudonyms of Nana and Nina respectively. Joanne is
a Mechanical Engineer based in the diaspora and Caroll
studied International Business with a master’s degree in
Maritime Logistics who currently lives in Palmas del Mar.
Both have been working in their professional fields for
several years, Nana in Philadelphia, and Nina between
Miami and Puerto Rico. They decided to take time away
from work to raise their children, and this is where the
idea of creating a world of bilingual stories was born. The
importance of reading was always something that their
parents instilled in them since they were little, and that
is why they decided to share the stories created for their
sons and daughters with the rest of the bilingual families.
Although they live far from each other, Nana in Tennessee,
and Nina in Puerto Rico, they talk every day and enjoy
creating new stories for everyone to enjoy.
They decided to create this
project in the wake of the
pandemic when they became
mothers. “We find ourselves
living in different places. Joanne
is in the state of Tennessee,
and I reside here in Puerto
Rico. With this we already know
that our children need to start
learning a second language because
they will need it to be able
to communicate with their cousins
in the diaspora and so on,”
explained Caroll López, who uses
the pseudonym, Nina.
Both agree that for some time
they had been writing stories
and always had the desire to
capture them in a book, but
they did not have the time
to do so because they
worked full time. “When
we became pregnant
and because of the
pandemic, we chose
to be full-time moms,
we saw an opportunity
to start working on this
long-awaited dream. We
decided to submit our first manuscript and from here the
publication of our first book was born,” explained Joanne
Lopez
“Haciendo Olas- Making Waves” is a bilingual illustrated
book that seeks to empower and motivate children
to pursue their dreams despite the challenges that may
arise on their way. A life lesson represented in a story that
seeks to inspire them to believe in their potential, grow
their values and pave the way for other children who may
have similar dreams.
“When we started writing the book, it was initially targeted
for young girls. But as we developed and refined
the details of the story, we realized that it is important
that both genres can be identified in the story since we
must all be encouraged at a young age to have confidence
ourselves and believe in our potential,” said Caroll
López, “However, we decided that the main character
would continue to be represented by a girl so that the
essence of what was the initial idea of our book prevails
and in turn to break a little the stereotype of thinking that
if the cover has a girl as its main character,
it is a story for girls.”
This book helps to stimulate the development
of Emotional Intelligence
from an early age by transmitting the
values of self-love, trust, confidence,
responsibility, freedom, humility, solidarity,
and tolerance. “Haciendo
Olas-Making Waves” is a book of simple
rhymes, perfect for all ages. The
book also promotes the assurance
that their loved ones will be there to
guide them and give them that impulse
they need to believe in them.
Currently, Nana & Nina are working
on the publication of what will be
their second book with a Puerto Rican
publisher. The book is currently
available on their website www.mundonananina.com.
The magic
behind our cover...
by Lissette Rosado, Editor
When the universe aligns, magic abounds. When I was looking for an
artist for our new cover, I suddenly came across one of the wonderful
paintings by William Quetzalcoatl, who is also a friend and a Palmeño. I
loved the painting and the place where it was installed, since the lines of
the stairs and the art conspired to graphically unite these two worlds that
complement each other so well...art & architecture. Immediately I called
William to explore the possibility of getting permission to take the cover
photo in that house. It was love at first sight. William referred me to Carlos
Faure from Galeria Biaggi Faure so that he asks for their permission, since
they were clients of the gallery. The universe continued to conspire as the
owners of the house turned out to be friends of mine and when Carlos told
him that the photo was for Lissette Rosado from Live &
Life in Palmas, they immediately agreed. But not only
did they accept but they welcomed us with open arms
and trays of delicious sandwiches, coffee, and pastries.
We already told them that we were coming back for
another shooting! LOL. Thank you Vimarie González
Torres and Harry Negrón for opening your home to us
and for the love received. Magic works when energies
align. For your information, Biaggi & Faure Fine Art is
currently open to the public Monday to Saturday by
appointment only. You can call them at 787.450.8132
to make an appointment for a private tour of the gallery
and/or more information on how they can assist you to
discover the magical world of art. s
LOVE 4 WINES....
PALMAS WINE TASTING GROUP
Whether you’re wine curious, a wine lover or a seasoned
aficionado, the Palmas del Mar chapter of the Love4wine
tasting group is for you!
We are everything wine! We meet monthly to explore
wines from around the world. Learning about the regions
& learning HOW to taste and speak the language
of wine!
Wine is unique, just like you and your taste. Get to know
your own palate and great wine will find you!
Anthony Freveletti, founder of Love4wine
Anthony Freveletti’s
wife and partner in
the Love4wines life
adventure.
Do you wish you knew how to pair great wine with great
cuisine?
We all know food from around the world but still are lost
on how to pair the right wine with our dinner!
Throw away everything you’ve heard: “Red wine with red
meat” or “white wine with white meat.”
Is Sparkling wine good for cuisine or just a celebration?
Together we will examine the “HOW & WHY” of the unbreakable
relationship between food & wine, while picking
up some tricks along the way.
Together a s a community we will unravel the mystery of
wine! How can I tell a good wine from a bad wine?
How to read & understand the labels. Does the glass
matter?
How should I serve and store my wine? And much much
more!
About Anthony
Anthony Freveletti, the founder of Love4wine, is a wine
expert with over 32 years’ experience in the business
of wine. Anthony’s father was a wine grape farmer and
winemaker so “playing in the dirt” was a completely different
experience for him as a child. For Anthony, wine
and food represent family togetherness, those feelings
and memories are a driving force in his passion.
“Sharing my passion for food & wine with everyone
and anyone, keeps memories of my family alive and constant.”
My journey to understand soil, wine and tasting has
allowed me to work with small family farmers and winemakers
from ancient estates to giants of the industry. I’ve
helped in educating future sommeliers and tomorrow’s
wine drinkers and developed collections for the rich &
famous-- I loved every minute of it. However, due to the
recent global situation, I have left my home in Tuscany

with my wife, who is from Gurabo here in Puerto Rico, to
be closer to our family. They say you are born to a family
but pick up more family along your way through life and
that’s been exactly my experience here in moving to this
awesome community in Palmas del Mar. I have brought
Love4wine with me and sharing it with you is just another
part of my passion.
I hope you will all join us on the love4wine whatsapp
group chat at 787-463-9116 or send me an email at anthony@love4wine.net
to keep up with the event calendar.
WINE TIP OF THE MONTH
Never try to taste wine as it passes over your tongue, the taste is not
there. You must “swish” around your mouth & then swallow to saturate
your palate. Then you must wait 15 to 45 seconds or more for the TRUE
flavors to emerge from the back of your throat and nasal passage. The
initial impact to your tongue is to alert you to the balance between
natural sugar vs. acidity.Remember, the mark of a great wine is the
balance combined with the flavors & tastes that will emerge!

other sponsors such as Club Cala, Pennock Farm, and numerous homeowners.
The students and staff had a lot of fun and created many memories
under the rain and breeze, at the beachfront. Nonetheless, approximately
400 pounds of debris, wood, plastic, and more were cleaned up from our
beaches. The Palmas Academy students and staff are greatly appreciated
for taking the time to improve the Palmas del Mar environment.

The Wild Grapes
a solid brotherhood
Without a doubt, the pandemic has been a time of
transformation and discovery. In our community, for example,
we have seen how people have adopted sports as
part of their lives with positive results in their physical as
well as their social health.
The Wild Grapes are a product of this. This team, made
up of 13 men of various ethnicities, ages and interests,
came together as a team to participate in this season’s
PRTA tournament.
In a short time, they have made themselves felt in our
community by delighting us with their performances.
They managed to stand out with their logo, sponsors,
and aggressive advertising campaign.
However, the most significant thing about this team
goes beyond this, seeing them in their practices, meetings
and sharing; it is evident that the Wild Grapes have
become more than a sports team—they have become a
brotherhood. To experience the support, respect, and
admiration between each other is fascinating and not
to mention, the sense of solidarity, family support and
friends that is undoubtedly contagious!
Many times, as a community, we wonder how to achieve
this unity and this desire for the common good. It seems
to me that these men show us the way day by day. s
LETTER
As we all
know, Palmas
is going
through one
of the most
progressive moments in many years. Property values
are up, and there is new construction as well as exciting
projects in the pipeline. Our school, The Palmas
Academy, that suffered greatly from Hurricane Maria,
(as well as our community in general) is recovering by
leaps and bounds. The Palmas Athletic Club (known
as PAC) is at its best; the tennis center is always full of
enthusiastic tennis and pickleball players. On the other
hand, our golf courses are in optimal condition and
important tournaments have already been held this
year and more are scheduled to be held. But all progress
is accompanied by small problems or situations
inherent to the human condition. In Palmas, as in other
regions of PR, many families have settled, both local and
from different regions of the United States and abroad.
We are human beings born and raised with different traditions,
customs, environments, cultures, languages, and
often different religions—this can cause conflicts. But we
must always remember that at the end of the day, we are
all the same; our blood is red (although some believe
theirs is blue) and our skeleton is the same (some larger
than others), our skin is lighter or darker, eventually it
gets old and wrinkled just the same. However, sometimes
we fight over little things because we think that
our way of thinking and doing things is correct and the
only way. We do not realize that the way we think is a
product of how and where we were raised and not that
we are sole keepers of the truth. Let’s learn from each
other without trying to impose our ‘truth’ because at the
end of the day we win when we learn that ‘my way’ is not
always ‘the way’.
For those who don't know
Robert Lowry, here with my
sister Lynnette and me
before the pandemic, when
he has already learned to
hug and kiss.
I will always remember when the pandemic began
that our friend Robert Lowry told me: “Now that I have
learned to touch and kiss people when greeting them,
they forbid me to do so!” I found it funny but also very
revealing because it is true. North Americans, for the
most part, are brought up and learn to keep a distance
as a sign of respect and privacy. We Latinos are kissers,
and we touch people all the time. Like this example,
there are many, which only shows that we can learn from
each other. I think that students should have the opportunity
to do a year of ‘study abroad’ outside of their
native country, to help them understand that there is
more than one way to see the world, and to help to see
and understand someone else’s point of view.
Well... I hope we can put this into practice because
we will all win when we are tolerant and embrace our
differences! s
SATURDAY, JUNE 4...6PM
Palmanova Plaza
Palmas Homeowners Association is excited to announce
the return of jazz to Palmanova Plaza with the
kick-off concert of the William Cepeda Puerto
Rican Big Band Orchestra tour, Saturday,
June 4 at 6:00pm.
Cepeda -- the first Puerto Rican musician
to receive the coveted grant.
Thanks to the South Arts award, the four-time
Grammy nominee will bring to life one of his most
ambitious music endeavors, the creation of the first
will establish precedents of great
importance for the local jazz scene,
