Charity Cup and Start of Season Lunch
Sunday morning April 29th saw more than
thirty players gather for the Tennis Society’s
Charity Cup. Donations from the tournament
participants and the greater membership
combined to raise $10,000 for the Hong Kong
Guide Dogs Association.
Play stretched across five courts and saw a total
of 50 no-let, no-deuce matches played. Befitting
the nature of the event (not to mention the early
Sunday morning) the competition was social.
Although Garreth Anwar was made to sweat
when his team was reduced to one racquet and
Warwick Foy decided to play pin the tail on the
donkey!
Thanks goes out to Jamaica Ang and Eddie
Ng and their team at the Club Sports Desk for
their invaluable assistance in arranging court
bookings and equipment for the day. Special
thanks to Allen Belobrajdic for his work as
tournament director, and Karen and Jeremy
Thorne for their work behind the scenes. Last
but not least, thank you to the players, your
generosity of spirit made for a fantastic day.
