The Village of Central Lake is situated in the
heart of northern Michigan’s Chain of Lakes.
As of the 2010 census, there were 952 people
residing in the village.
Besides scenic waterways and friendly businesses,
Central Lake offers an array of recreational activities. As
a year-round vacation destination, it welcomes boaters,
kayakers, skiers, campers, snowmobilers, hunting and
fishing enthusiasts, and all who seek a peaceful getaway.
Central Lake features a picturesque modern campground
at Thurston Park, which includes 47 campsites, a playground,
a boat launch and docks.
The area’s Chain of Lakes ecosystem is divided into the
Upper and Lower Chains with six lakes each, providing an
abundance of water for all lake enthusiasts. In and outside
of the village, there are abundant biking and hiking
opportunities. Torch Lake, said to be one of the world’s
most beautiful lakes, is only three miles away.
Those wondering about air travel, Torchport and Antrim
County airports are both less than 10 miles from the village,
and Traverse City’s Cherry Capital Airport is just 45
minutes away.
Summer events in Central Lake include the Chamber’s annual
Car Show, craft fairs and the area’s largest Fourth of
