a cool bike! Nippy, powerful, comfortable
and quick-shifter, rider modes etc all
standard. Seems like a winner… we need to

As with most BMWs, especially the GS
series, this little 750 Sport adventure
bike is very comfortable and easy to ride.
Classic adventure bike riding position
with mid pegs and raised bars. All the
creature comforts that you can get on the
1250 are available on this model as well
and you get the same intuitive interface
and computer controls. The engine is so
powerful it feels like a much bigger bike.
Torque for days and it can take you well
over the speed limit. I managed a 196 kph
top speed with a pillion. You can tell it is
the more road-focused version of the bike,
as the seat is low enough for me to put my
feet flat on the floor and the suspension is
not quite soft enough to cruise over rocks
comfortable. It has a quick shifter that
works very well but does feel a bit spongy
when shifting down. You also get some
grab rails for your pillion, which is a must
with the power that this bike delivers, and
a nice big and comfortable rear seat that is
pillion approved. Out of all the bikes in this
lot, I think this makes the most sense as a
versatile daily commuter that you can take
touring, canyon carving and even adventure
riding.
In final summary…
There is really great value for money to
be had in this class of bikes and a bike
to suit every budget. The best priced
bikes sacrifice a couple of gadgets and
luxuries and possibly a bit of performance.
The best spec’d bikes on the other hand
sacrifice frugal pricing and fuel efficiency.
But none of them sacrifice on quality, back
up service or bang for your buck. You need
to decide what you want from a motorcycle
and what you are prepared to or can pay
for it. Apart from the BMW and the Triumph
765 the other bikes are all fairly evenly
matched on gadget, spec, pricing and fuel
economy.
Every one of these bikes are available to
demo ride at the relevant franchised dealer,
so take a day off work and book a bunch
of test rides and then decide for yourself.
