Racing series Round 1.
“For riders, by riders”. That’s the message
passed across at the start of this new series
for 2022. We were invited along by the folks
from King Price and BMW Motorrad to come
and have a mooch around and watch the
action.
Raceday at Redstar raceway was a perfect
sunny Saturday - and it has to be said that it’s
been a long time since we’ve seen such a great
turnout of both teams and spectators.
Redstar is such a cool venue - everything is
central with easy access to the pits and it was
literally rocking with happy, smiling faces all
ready to hit the track.
It was so cool to wander around the pits, meet
and greet old - and new friends and just soak
in the fumes of competition.
Sure, the new bikes are always impressive
- and there was no shortage of those, with
guys like BMW Motorrad and The King Price
Extreme teams putting up great displays -
but wander along to the pits out back - and all
the older 80’s bikes are lurking about being
tuned and warmed up for the racing. And to
watch those guys scrap is something to see.
Clint Sellar on his Fireblade really was a class
act on the day - he opened up Fridays first
session with a mind-blowing lap of 1:50. 7
which is the first sub 1:51 lap ever for a inline
4 cylinder motor motorcycle ever recorded at
Redstar.
