Jason van Breda did extremely well in this
class as well as in the 150 class, which would
have made his Grandad very proud.
Speaking of the 150 class, it is something
else to see our national superbike champ
Mr Clinton Seller on track. He’s usually
preoccupied helping a junior member of the
class on track. The 150’s are truly quick little
machines and the kids ride them with knees on
the ground and I am dead sure there are some
future “Brad Binder-esque” MotoGP rider
amongst them.
An interesting class is the Clubman’s. There is
always a mish mash of bikes. From Motards
to two strokes. This is the class where you will
see a kid on a 150 kick an adults ass on a big
bike.
Neil Harran and his NSF 100 ‘s always put on
a great show. The racing almost always gets
intense. Many a good rider on superbikes and
bigger class bikes have come through the NSF
mill. Neil does a fantastic job. Kudos to all the
people that donate kit and their time to this
class.
Super Motards, Ou Ballie class, SM2 those
riders that haven’t become loonies yet and
then SM1 and SM1X ... The loonies.... I have
never ever watched a SM race that didn’t scare
me just a little. The SM1 and SM-X class don’t
actually start a race, they simply explode down
the start straight and get sideways going into
a maul in the first corner before getting up
on the back wheel out the other side of the
corners…
And then, they somehow go around the
track for many laps without destroying life
or property. I have told many people that
they have never seen bike racing if they have
never watched super Motards racing… really
spectacular stuff to watch and a must see if
you get the chance.
My mind fails to understand how riders
achieve what they do. Truly magnificent and
breath taking.
And that is all from me… I think I am going to
go have a little lie down until the next race…
Phew – exciting stuff.
See you at the next one!
