Notes for Cornelius Fulton Bump:
C.F. BUMP, farmer, sec. 14; P.O., Civer. Mr. B was born in the Empire State in 1829. His parents, Herman and
Zilphia (Fuller) Bump, were natives of the same State, where they died, Mr. B came to this State in 1848, and
since 1850 has resided in Fulton Co. He was united in marriage in New York State with Anna Maria Foote, a
native of that State and born in 1832. Mr. B. has led a quiet, peaceable life, and in his business has been
moderately successful. His residence is on sec. 14; post office, Civer.

Mr. B. settled in Illinois in 1848, locating in Fulton County, of which he was always a farmer and most respected
citizen. In politics he is a supporter of the Democratic party. Mr. B's second wife was Mary L. Powell, by whom
he had two children, who are living namely: Herman C., A farmer near Canton, Ill., and Zylphia, who resides on
the homestead farm, in the vicinity of that city. The mother of these children died in 1863. The third wife of
Cornelius was Elizabeth Powell, a sister of the second wife, and this union resulted in five children, as follows:
Rosa E., wife of Douglas Saunders, a farmer living near Canton, Ill.; M. Lilly, wife of Martin Saunders, who is
engaged in farming in Putman Township, Fulton County; Cornelius, who is on the old home farm; Ulton Oliver, a
Farmer in Putman Township, Fulton County, Illinois. The mother of this family now makes her home at the old
homestead with Cornelius and Zylphia.

Williamsport, NY d. near Canton, IL. They lived near Canton, IL (P.O. Civer), Fulton, Co., IL Joshua Twp. He
was a farmer. Cornelius must have moved from Windham, NY to Fulton co. IL between 1858 and 1860. See
census 1860 of Joshua Twp., Fulton Co., IL and birth records of Children. Cornelius was living in 1850 census
with Nelson [Bump] and his family at Windham. C(B)R says he came to IL. in 1848 and to Fulton co., IL in
1850., m. in NYS.
