Home Away
By Madison Cuoco, 11
The blades of grass were sitting and soaking up the sun,
slowing drifting side to side, following the pattern of the wind.
The wind blows the dandelions,
puffs scattering through the lawn,
planting themselves gently in new pastures.
The house doesn’t move.
Sitting sturdy since 1985
through several families and several storms.
The house sits sturdy in the place I call home.
Until yesterday
when the storm came.
The heavy winds surged through my hometown
ripping up the blades of grass
and taking my house away.
