The field of migrant organisations in
North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) is
highly fragmented due to various waves
of migration, origin groups, intergenerational
changes and the reproduction
of ideological, political and religious
diversity in the countries of origin.
This study is the first to provide an overview
of migration-related associational
organisations in NRW.
VID-19 crisis transformed Austrian
society? In this book, more than 20
empirical social researchers seek answers
to this question, engaging in discussions
on multifaceted topics such
as trust in politics and society and
changes in well-being, value orientations
and expectations for the future
during times of crisis.
The studies collected in this book illustrate a basic theory and
methodology of cultural techniques research using concrete historical
case studies. Accordingly, this book aims to analyse situations
of elementary symbolisation processes in which the distinctions
between the real and the symbolic, medium and content, and
what is human and non-human are suspended and thus appear
to be in the process of becoming. These situations range from the
separation or fusion of a message and a channel to the delicate
act of eating, from the crisscrossed distinction between going inside
and outside through doors to the fusion of ground and figure
through textile media, and from the beginning of counting to the
collapse of antropological differences.
In the face of seemingly unsolvable
problems, like climate change, species
extinction and social inequality, Yannik
Gehlen ventures a fundamental change
of perspective by reconceptualising the
manifold crises of modernity as a disruption
to our relationship with the
world.
