Vidyaranaya, Bangalore, Karnataka : In a glittering
ceremony in the Bangalore palace grounds on
27th February 2010, Smt. Vatsala Prabhu, Vice
President received the prestigious 'Namma Bengaluru'
award at the hands of the Honourable Governor
of Karnataka Sh. H.R. Bhardwaj and
Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka Sh. B.S.
Yediurappa. The award committee headed by a
member of Rajya Sabha Sh. Rajiv Chandrasekhar
with dignitaries like Justice Rama Jois and
Lokayuktha Sh. Santosh Hegde among others as
members, examined as many as 4000 applications
proposed by citizens and shortlisted 28 persons of
whom 14 (including Smt. Vatsala Prabhu) were finally
selected for the award. Smt. Prabhu an entrepreneur
herself, has deeply involved herself in
seva activities in the field of underprivilged
women's education and employment, training and
rehabilitation of mentally challenged children, environmental
awareness, revival of interest and
pride in all round development of Kannada etc. besides
being actively associated with the day to day
affairs of BVP in the capacity of Vice President of
Shakha.
B-Block Janakpuri, Delhi South : Organized
Samuhak Saral Vivah of ten eligible couples in a
very impressive manner, strictly as per BVP guidelines
on 13.04.2010, the Baisakhi day by spending
about Rs. two and half lakhs. The attendance of
about 300 relatives of ten couples, various senior
functionaries of BVP, S/Sh. R.K. Thakur, M.L. Gaur
and R.N. Chowdhary, distinguished residents of
Janak Puri including all the three Municipal Councillors
representing different parts of Janakpuri,
namely Sh. Prithviraj Sahni, Sh. Shyam Sharma
and Smt. Promila Ghai and large number of members
of the Branch made it a very impressive function.
The performance of various rituals of marriage
by organizing Var Malas, ten separate VEDIS etc.
was very impressive and well appreciated. A
sumptuous lunch was served to all the relatives of
ten couples and others who graced the occasion.
As required under the norms of BVP, all the essential
items to start the new household such as
double bed, Steel almirahs, Utensils and clothes
etc. were gifted to each couple for which members
of branch and other distinguished residents contributed
liberally.
Belgaum, Karnataka Uttar : Dayeetwa Grahana
Samarambha of Belgaum Shakha was organized
on 4th April, 2010 at Gymkhana Hall of Gogte College
of Commerce to hand over the dayeetwa of
the Shakha to the newly elected team. Bharat
Vikas Parishad was introduced to the gathering by
the Vice President Smt. Sukhad Deshpande. Sh.
V.R. Gudi introduced the Chief Guest Sh. Avinash
Potdar, a leading businessman. Smt. Ghodekar introduced
the Guest of honor Sh. Jagadeesh Kunte,
a well known cartoonsit while Sh. Pandurang
Nayak introduced the Prant Secretary Sh. Jagadeesh
Maligi. President Sh. Kumar Patil presented
the flowers to the guests. The new team -
President Sh. Anand Kulkarni, Secretary Sh. Namaji
Deshpande & the Treasurer Sh. Pradeep
Kulkarni were given the BVP oath by the Zonal
Chariman Prin. V.N. Joshi, who also presided over
the function. Sh. Anand Kulkarni, the new President,
while accepting his dayeetwa, assured that,
all the projects of the Parishad will be well organized
in his tenure. He also announced the names of
his executive committee and presented them the
flowers as a mark of welcome. Later, the outgoing
team was felicitated by the new office bearers as a
mark of gratitude and congratulations for their successful
tenure.
On this occasion, 20 new members were introduced,
welcomed and inducted by the President
Sh. Anand Kulkarni. The Prant secretary Sh. Jagadish
Maligi gave them the oath of BVP membership.
The invited guests Sh. Jagdeesh Kunte & Sh.
Avinash Potdar wished the new team all the best in
their tenure and expressed their appreciation of the
