SOMETIMES, WHEN THINGS GO AGAINST YOU, YOU ARE FACED WITH
TWO OPTION: ONE, YOU CURL UP INTO A BALL AND FEEL SORRY FOR
YOURSELF, OR, TWO, YOU STAND UP, DUST YOURSELF DOWN, ROLL
YOUR SLEEVES UP AND APPROACH THINGS HEAD ON.
​Last Saturday, at Vale Park, things
certainly went against us. Having
to play against an extra player for
more than half the game in that
searing heat would have seen
many teams wilt. But not us. I was
super proud of how we went about
things. I’m more proud of that point
against Port Vale than I was of the
Salford or Wycombe wins. If this
side starts fighting like then the
rest of the league will be watching
over their shoulders.
​I was baffled by Rico’s sending off
if I’m honest. But I’ve already said
what I need to say on that. It won’t
do any good dwelling on it.
​It was a shame because I know
that if it was 11 v 11 for the full game
then we would have blown our
opponents away.
​But in the end we had to make
sure we got that point - and that
we certainly did. I thought our
defending was determined right
down to the last minute but we
also created chances to come
away with a win.
​Like I said, that performance told
me a lot about the players we have
and the pride and passion they
play with when wearing the Bolton
Wanderers shirt.
​Again, we were backed superbly
by more than 3,000 of you. The
atmosphere you generated was

COME AWAY WITH A WIN.
stirring throughout and I am sure
you will be as proud of the lads as
I was.
​Games are coming thick and
fast and tonight we welcome
Morecambe who will be looking
to establish themselves in League
One after getting promoted with us
two seasons ago.
​It will be another test for us and I
know that we will have to dig deep
and show that fighting spirit if we
are to come away with a result.
​I am delighted that our reward for
beating Salford City in the Carabao
Cup is a home tie against Aston
Villa in the next round.
​Villa are one of the giants of the
game and a night under the lights
at a packed University of Bolton
Stadium later this month will be
something special for us all.
​I want to make it clear that we
want to go as far as we can in
this competition and this will be
an opportunity to test ourselves
against a top flight side.
​But first we’ve got some league
games that we must endeavor to
take maximum points from.
​And that is what we will be aiming
to do tonight.
