Positive Ageing Month - October 2022

Welcome to Positive Ageing Month As Head of Health Improvement, Equality and Involvement for the Western Health & Social Care Trust, I am delighted once again to support the annual Positive Ageing Campaign. This is a great example of how working together can achieve great results. I would like to thank all our partners for providing a wide range of activities and events for older people. Positive Ageing month puts a focus on the 5 steps to wellbeing - Be Active, Connect, Take Notice, Give and Keep Learning. This year there are many opportunities to participate in programmes that will allow you to achieve all these steps. The varied programme offers dancing, swimming, poetry and opportunities to meet new or old friends, reading the newspapers over tea. What is not to like? RIPE Exhibition –Closing date for Expressions of Interest<br />

Part of the ‘Here and Now’ Older peoples Arts, Health and Wellbeing Festival Arts<br />

Care will be hosting the ‘RIPE’ exhibition in Belfast in 2023. Your artwork should<br />

be created and inspired by the theme ‘A Tale to Tell’ – We believe that every<br />

Energy Efficiency in the Home – (Online via Zoom)<br />

Hear about energy efficient heating, lighting, and appliances, keeping the heat<br />

where it is needed, comparing and switching energy suppliers, advice and<br />

support from National Energy Action (NEA) NI. Limited places. Register by email<br />

Wellbeing in your Care Home through Verbal Arts Centre<br />

The Verbal team will visit your Care Home and deliver a 1hour session to<br />

residents between 24th-28th <strong>October</strong>. Contact Verbal on 028 7126 6946 or<br />

Explore Your Family History in the Whittaker Suite, Guildhall<br />

Researching your family or local history? Come along to an informal session<br />

for tips on researching your ancestors with the Archivist & Genealogist from the<br />

Tower Museum. Places limited and booking essential.<br />

Walking for fun on Castlerock Beach with Older People North West<br />

Come along and join in for a short walk on Castlerock Beach. Meet at Waterside<br />

Railway Station at 1.20 pm and let the train take the strain. Bring your bus pass<br />
