Leinster Rugby At Home
The RDS Arena
[ Established: 1731 | First Leinster Game: 2005 | Capacity: 18,300 ]
The RDS Arena has been home
to Leinster Rugby since 2007
when the senior team’s games
were relocated from Donnybrook
stadium.
The RDS is situated in the heart of Dublin,
in Ballsbridge, and is located on a 42-
acre site between the Intercontinental
Dublin and the Herbert Park Hotel on
Merrion Road.
It has previously hosted high-profile
concerts such as Justin Bieber, Bruce
Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac, Pink and
Bon Jovi. It has also hosted other sporting
events such as FAI Cup Finals, the Special
Olympics, Davis Cup Tennis and, of
course, the annual Dublin Horse Show.
The Arena holds a capacity of 18,300
which can be increased by a further
1,500 if required via temporary seating.
Leinster Rugby’s first home game after
the official move was a win against
Edinburgh Rugby in the then Magners
League in September 2007, though
the first game played at the RDS by the
province was a 34-15 win over Cardiff
Blues in September 2005.
Since then, the RDS Arena hosts the
majority of Leinster Rugby home games
and has witnessed some brilliant highs
but also some agonising lows! As well as
hosting the Bank of Ireland Leinster Rugby
Schools Senior Final each year, the RDS
Arena has also hosted the finals of other
tournaments.
Most recently, it hosted the 2014 PRO12
Final where Leinster defeated Glasgow
Warriors 34-12 with Zane Kirchner (2),
Shane Jennings and Gordon D’Arcy all
touching down for the home side.
The season before that, the RDS
witnessed Leinster success across both
domestic and European competition as
the province claimed the PRO12 and
