Memorable Moments 

Our new school term is now in full swing and everyone is overjoyed to return to the school campus where 

we can interact with friends and colleagues in person. We are, after all, a social species and the support we 

receive from others in our community is a source of help and happiness. The strong sense of belonging we 

all share at CKY creates meaningful and lasting bonds of friendship. We are all keenly aware that what can 

be achieved individually will always pale in significance to what we can achieve together; united! 

In 2022, we celebrated the 20th Anniversary since the school’s founding, a major milestone for everyone at 

CKY. The last academic year was packed full of Memorable Moments, which commemorated twenty years 

of joyful and successful education. This edition of the Newsletter features some of the memorable moments 

that made our commemorative celebrations so special and inspiring. After a two-year absence from campus, 

our postponed 20th Anniversary Open Day brought back the wonder and awe of former times as an array of 

game booths, student performances and interactive classrooms showed wide-eyed visitors the best of a 

holistic CKY education. The commemorative Annual Concerts and Musical Play were very special indeed, 

where our students and alumni from various graduating classes left audiences thrilled. The graduates 

reprised their roles in a medley of songs from various plays performed over the years. The auditorium went 

on a trip down memory lane, and the audience couldn’t resist tapping their toes, swaying their heads or 

singing along. These special moments, featured in this edition alongside others, were uniquely precious and 

left an indelible mark on the memories of everyone involved.

Our new school year launched with the inspiring theme of ‘Focus on the Good’. This short but effective tagline 

reminds everyone within our school community to stay optimistic and hopeful despite the inevitable uncertainties and 

obstacles we are dealt with throughout life. Focusing on the good allows us to rise above our current challenges, to find 

a solution to every problem by remaining upbeat and resilient with a ‘glass half-full’ mindset. As usual, the Newsletter 

shines a spotlight on how different members of our community are focusing on goodness, through active participation 

in a broad range of activities such as STEM and reading competitions which build students’ skills and confidence. Odd 

Socks Day has become an annual highlight at CKY, where we celebrate the diversity of our school community and 

recognise each individual’s differences as a strength. Moreover, our New Teachers have introduced themselves by 

sharing their desert island discs as music can be a powerful means of reframing one’s mood and outlook towards 

goodness! As usual, some of our alumni, who have achieved marvellous things at university and beyond, have shared 

with the Newsletter their journey since graduating from CKY, and what an exciting future beckons for them now!

Po Leung Kuk IGCSE Scholarship Awardees 

In August 2022, we celebrated the achievements of our IGCSE students, 105 of whom were awarded a Po 

Leung Kuk scholarship for attaining 6 or more A-A* grades. Three of our students below, who achieved the 

exceptional record of 11 or 12 straight A* grades, reflect on their time as an IGCSE student and how this 

challenging experience has built the skills and attitudes they need for success in the IB Diploma 

Programme. 

The Journey of Overcoming the IGCSE Challenge 

IGCSE 的兩年間 , 我學到最珍貴的 

課題 , 叫「平衡」。 

平衡⽅⾯, 時間管理絕對是重 

要的⼀課。兼顧⼗⼆個學科以及其 

他的課外活動 , 令我在 IGCSE 初期 

時感到喘不過氣來。直到後來 , 我 

下定決⼼要痛改拖延症的問題 , 更 

要熟習⾃⼰的⼯作模式。⾯對眾多 

測驗、考試時 , 不要凡事留待最後 

⼀刻 , 要為⾃⼰預留額外的時間。 

平衡好玩樂、讀書、發展個⼈興 

趣 , 才是⻑遠之計。 

其次 , 身⼼也要達致平衡。不 

論多忙碌 , 也絕不能犧牲做運動的 

時間 , 畢竟做運動是釋放壓⼒的良 

法。另外 , 我最⼤的興趣莫過於辯 

論。即使是在考試期間 , 我也會盡 

量抽空 , 以辯論舒壓。⽽⼼理⽅ 

⾯, 因疫情反覆 , 課時縮短 , 甚⾄ 

開考前⼀個⽉, 也不知道考試能否 

如常進⾏。這讓我學會了 :⾯對外 

來因素 , 我們只可做好⾃⼰, 餘下 

的就順其⾃然。無需強求結果 , 畢 

竟謀事在⼈, 成事還是需要依靠上 

天。 

⽽在這艱⾟的過程中 , 我必須 

感謝幾個⼈。 

先是⽗⺟的照顧和栽培 , 還有 

妹妹的陪伴。特別要感謝的是奶 

奶 , 若⾮她的諄諄教誨 , 教導我求 

學須勤奮、積極、堅持 , 相信今天 

我亦難有此成績。 

家⼈以外 , 還有身邊的良師益 

友。我是相當幸運的 , 遇到的⽼師 

皆⼗分有耐⼼, 包容了我的遲鈍與 

無知。尤其感謝我經濟科的⽼師 , 

她是我的⼈⽣導師 , 在失意時 , 是 

她的扶持 , 令我能跨過障礙。還有 

我化學及數學的幾位⽼師 ,⼀開 

始 , 我這幾科的成績確實⼀般 , 是

穫。到考試前夕 , 我還收到幾位⽼ 

師為我打氣的電郵和短訊 , 更提醒 

我 , 盡⼒就好。若我們有半點成 

就 , 都是他們的功勞。我不但幸 

運 , 更⾮常幸福 , 只因我身邊有像 

天使般的好朋友。有些願意深夜為

珍貴的回憶。我尤其感激辯論隊的

你細看 , 沿途的⾵景總會告訴你 :

變得不重要 , 剩下的都是美好的。 

獲取這樣的成績 , 不僅是意料 

之外 , 更是不可思議。但不論今天 

是成或敗 , 是喜或悲 , 都會過去 

的。路還⻑。IB 是下⼀個挑戰 ,⽽ 

前⽅還有千千萬萬個挑戰。⽽我身 

⼼, 我們會抱緊信念 , 懷著希望與 

溫柔 , 帶著⼀點天真 ,⼀點認真 , 

⼀點傻氣 ,⼀點勇氣 , 征服⼀座⼜ 

⼀座⾼峰。

IGCSEs are a challenge not for the faint-hearted! One of the challenges I faced was the copious number of 

quizzes, tests, and homework we were assigned. Because of the great amount of work, I had to be extremely 

efficient, and time management was an essential skill. Due to the switch from face-to-face lessons to online lessons, it 

was also much harder to fully concentrate on every lesson as I would get tired easily from staring at the monitor. It 

took longer than usual to consolidate my notes and make sure I understood everything, and it required more effort 

and patience. Through slowly pushing myself and giving myself frequent but well-deserved breaks, I eventually made 

sure I had a strong foundation of knowledge and was well-prepared for the exams. 

On the good side, although we had to switch to online lessons due to the worsening of the pandemic, 

reduced commuting time also meant that we were able to have more time to revise and go through school material. 

My strong foundation in IGCSEs meant that I am now able to comprehend IB school material more fully, as much 

of the knowledge we were taught is reintroduced to us in IB but with more detail. Skills such as lab safety are also an 

important part of IB syllabus and learning it thoroughly in IGCSE aids my practical skills in IB. 

For current students studying for IGCSE, the most essential tip is to start early and avoid procrastination. 

If you don’t clear up misconceptions and let them accumulate, you will become overburdened with work and it will 

become extremely difficult to catch up with the progress. Another tip is to start doing past papers right from the start 

– doing topical questions at different websites after each unit is taught can help reinforce memory and reduce the 

revision burden during study breaks. 

Finally, thank you to all the teachers who taught me and guided me through this painstaking yet rewarding 

journey. Even though we had online lessons, our teachers still put in their best into their lessons, organising 

additional lessons, compiling past papers for us, and actively answering to our every need and helping us with our 

work. Thank you also to Po Leung Kuk for their scholarships and kind recognition. The IGCSE has been a truly 

memorable experience!

IGCSE is tough. Beginning in Y9, 

it’s a two year course culminating in over a 

month’s worth of exams. If I look back, it all 

felt like a blur of learning, studying and 

worrying. But that doesn’t sound very 

helpful. If you’re an upcoming IGCSE 

student, you probably want advice on how 

to approach them, and preferably advice on 

how to get good results. So, this is my 

experience. 

Like many other students can attest 

to, time management is hard. It can be 

difficult to juggle the content of ten subjects 

(eleven if you take English Literature!), and 

you’ll still want time for personal interests 

and socialising. To deal with this, it’s 

important to create schedules and set 

yourself time frames. If you have a 

Chemistry quiz tomorrow, you might want to 

remind yourself to revise for that from 8 to 

9pm. It’s also good to put your phone away 

to avoid getting distracted. Believe me, it 

really does help. 

Another thing that many struggle with 

is stress, particularly as exams approach. 

COVID restrictions and sporadic online 

lessons weren’t exactly helpful for me 

either. Therefore, don’t spend all your time 

on academics. Spend some time with 

friends, family, and on interests that you 

enjoy. Maybe it’s an instrument, a sport, a 

game, anything to help you relax when 

you’re feeling down. Just don’t try and pick 

up, say, League of Legends two weeks 

before exams start. 

In terms of studying, my best tip is to 

study with your friends. Having fun when 

revising really does help make time fly by, 

and you’ll generally be more comfortable 

asking questions. Hop on a voice call and 

look at powerpoints, go through past paper 

questions or just compare notes. It makes 

the process much more enjoyable. Also, 

fully utilise available online resources. 

Teachers will provide plenty of materials on 

Google Classroom, but you can look for 

past papers online, or study guides and 

summaries on unfamiliar topics. Moreover, 

getting into the habit of doing past papers is 

critical. You’ll want to familiarise yourself 

with question formats and know how to earn 

marks. Understand the difference between, 

for example, a 6-marker and 8-marker in 

Economics. Time yourself and mark it when 

you’re done, and learn from your mistakes. 

Of course, I have to thank my family, 

friends and teachers for supporting me 

through this journey. Many thanks also to 

Po Leung Kuk for their support and 

encouragement. I’ve gained some valuable 

skills, such as better time management, 

determining priorities and a better capability 

to cope under pressure, which will probably 

come in handy for IB. For those of you in Y9 

and 10, IGCSE isn’t easy, and there’s no 

guarantee for high marks, but just know that 

sometimes, all you can do is try your best.

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE

Volunteers 

Hello everyone, 

I am the mom of Sammi who studied in Y4 in 

the 2021-22 Academic Year. I was one of the 

parent volunteers during the school's open 

day last year and I would like to share my firsttime 

experience with you all. 

Last year's Open Day was an extraordinary one 

for the CKY community. Due to the pandemic, 

it was not open to the public but just to CKY 

students and their families, however, we had a 

very unique, joyful and memorable 

experience. From the initial progress of 

communication between class teachers, class 

parents and students, they had to vote on 

which brain games they were the most 

interested in. From the design of the game to 

the theme of the booth, and purchasing toys 

and gifts, putting it into practice was an 

absolutely busy but exciting experience. 

We put the learning themes 'Celebrity 

Stories' that our kids learned throughout 

the year into the game so it was educational 

and familiar to kids while it was full of fun. With 

all the help of teachers and coordination of 

parents and volunteers, we made it happen. I can 

see kids and their parents enjoyed the Open Day 

so much with their lovely waves of laughter on 

their faces. Although that day was very hot, it 

didn't affect the atmosphere at all. 

I was really grateful that I had the chance to be a 

part of the volunteer team on the school's 20th 

Anniversary Open day. It was an amazing 

experience and I was so glad to see how fun it 

was that our CKY community gathered again after 

two years of the pandemic. I wish in the coming 

years that I will have other chances to do different 

volunteering jobs!

另⼀個「家」。回憶中 , 兒⼦倆總是開⼼上學 , 愉快學習。更感恩能遇上很多良師益友 , 畢業⾄今 

仍不時保持聯繫 , 同⾏成⾧, 感欣慰。 

作為家⾧, 這些年透過不同的參與 , 加上在 PTA 的體驗 , 既增添寶貴親⼦時光 , 也豐富了我們 

家庭的⽣活 , 累積不少美好共同話題和回憶。再者 , 意想不到能結識到亦師亦友的⽼師家⾧們 …… 

適逢今年是 CKY 20 週年校慶 , 這⼤⽇⼦, 被期待已久。疫情下 ,6‧25 校慶當⽇, 處處熱熱鬧 

鬧 , 熟悉的地⽅, 回家的感覺 : 喜⾒⼀張張熱切的⾯孔 ,⼤家雖戴著⼜罩 , 在嚴守⼀切防疫措施 

下 , 似有阻隔 , 然⽽透過眼神和交流 , 仍深深感受到不⼀樣的喜悅親切和思念之情 —— 愉快和 

諧、友愛聯繫、學⽣為本、家校同⼼! 這就是 CKY❣

Most Improved Award 

At the end of every academic year, CKY 

celebrates Primary students who demonstrate 

excellent improvement and success in their 

studies and personal development. Read what 

they have to say about their achievement! 

I got the Most Improved Student Award when I 

was in Year 2. I was super surprised to get the 

award because I didn’t think I was doing very well, 

but it turned out I still got the award! 

I’m grateful to my parents for helping and guiding 

me, they also provided me with more exercises to 

practise with. I learned that it’s okay to ask people 

for help and anything is possible if you keep 

trying! 

When I went on stage, I was incredibly nervous 

since everyone was looking at me, but I was also 

very proud to receive the award. The certificate is 

now displayed at home and it reminds me to keep 

doing my best.

I received the Most Improved Student Award when 

I was in Year 1. I cannot believe this is the truth, but 

I really enjoyed being on stage and being 

presented with the award from all the Principals. 

I think I had this chance to receive this award 

because I love to ask so many questions when I am 

in doubt, and create so many questions if I am not 

sure. I also love sharing my feelings and I love to 

find answers! Sometimes I feel some difficulty 

when trying to do my school work, but with the 

help of my parents and teachers, anything is 

possible!

真沒想到我在三年級時可以獲得這個「最佳進步奬」奬項 , 還記得當吳 

老師宣佈我獲得這個奬時 , 我感到既驚喜⼜興奮。在開學時 , 我還是個 

很害羞的⼩女孩 , 不敢舉⼿回答問題 , 也不敢主動提問 , 做匯報時更害 

怕得全⾝發抖。但在吳老師和 Mr. Dooley 的耐⼼及⿎勵下 , 下學期的我 

勇敢多了 , 我嘗試放開懷抱回答問題 , 做匯報時同學都稱讚我聲⾳響亮 

了 , 漸漸地 , 我有了⾃信 , 能夠不斷地進步 , 真的要感謝老師及同學的

我終於得獎了 … 

每次看到別⼈得進步獎的時候 , 我都不覺得我會有 

份兒。直⾄今年得到了這個「最佳進步奬」, 才明 

⽩了原來只要努⼒, 就會進步。我真的很感恩老師 

和爸媽給我的⿎勵 ! 

周主任告訴我這是要嘉許我在學習態度和責任感上 

的進步 ,⽽我也在品格⽅⾯進步了不少 , 每次我⾒ 

到老師和同學都會主動打招呼。 

我想了⼜想 , 為什麼我會進步 ? 我想是因為今年的 

課堂都很有趣 ! 老師的授課、功課和設計的活動都 

引起我的學習興趣 , 所以就算下學期多數都是網 

課 , 我也很留⼼和積極地參與討論 , 尤其是 STEM

五年級的中⽂和英⽂都要做畢業論⽂, 媽媽總是擔⼼ 

我 , 怕我跟不上進度 ,⼜跟不到老師的要求。當結業 

禮時老師宣佈我獲得了「最佳進步獎」的⼀刻 , 我真 

是⼜興奮、⼜感動、⼜疑惑。原來 , 老師說最欣賞我 

的學習態度。 

做論⽂其實很容易的 , 您只要專⼼上課 , 聽老師的指 

示 , 並找很多關於論⽂題⽬的書和資料 , 那做論⽂就 

會輕鬆多了。過程中 , 老師會⼀步⼀步教你 , 我也很 

認真聽老師的指示 , 所以當最後能夠完成時是多麼的 

滿⾜。 

疫情期間上網課 , 我變得勇敢 , 積極發問 , 也嘗試了 

⾃⼰做功課 , 更試過課後約同學⼀起視像做功課 , 互 

相幫忙 , 學習⾃⼰⽤Google Classroom 交功課 , 不⽤ 

媽媽檢查。如果我能⾃動⾃覺完成功課 , 爸爸媽媽也 

會給我⾃由時間玩樂。 

回想起來 , 五年級是我成長的⼀年 , 對⾃⼰的事負責 

任 , 也懂得樂觀⾯對困難。當你盡全⼒去做 , 老師和 

家長⼀定會看到的 , 我的努⼒都是值得的 !

Bilingual 

20th Anniversary Bilingual Scholarship Awardees 

CKY’s 20th Anniversary saw a number of students recognised for 

their excellence in English and Chinese bilingualism. Two of the 

fortunate scholarship recipients reflects on the importance of bilingualism 

below, and shares her appreciation for winning this significant award. 

I am really grateful and honoured to have received the 

Bilingual Scholarship. 

I definitely relate to the struggles that many of us face, 

such as having to switch “channels” in our brains and 

blanking out when having to translate certain words in 

your head. 

However, I think that being bilingual has countless 

benefits and could mean a lot more than just an extra 

ability to list on a resume. When you think beyond 

studying the language in a classroom, it is something 

that will accompany you throughout life. Other than 

being able to communicate with people that speak 

either language, you can immerse yourself in both 

cultures, whether it be in the form of books, poems, or 

songs. I also read that it helps you become a better 

multitasker and has cognitive benefits. 

I still remember the ECECE competitions from 

primary. Being brought up in a bilingual environment 

at school, I love reading, appreciating literature, and 

writing in both languages. 

Again, I am extremely thankful for this award and will 

continue to work harder. 

我覺得學習語⾔的過程是⾮常漫⻑的 , 因為要反覆 

地練習中英⽂的聽說讀寫之所有範疇 , 才能徹底掌 

握⼀種語⾔。在閱讀⽅⾯, 我會把握⻑假期 ( 例如 

暑假 ) 的時間看⻑篇⼩說 ,⽽平時也會多閱讀散 

⽂、詩歌等篇幅較短的⽂體 , 持續積累新詞彙。在 

寫作⽅⾯, 我會積極參與不同中英⽂寫作⽐賽 ; 這 

能讓我學習更多寫作技巧 , 提升即場構思⽂章的能 

⼒。「⼭外有⼭,⼈外有⼈」, 參與校外⽐賽的活 

動 , 亦令我能⾒識到其他寫作「⾼⼿」, 與他們互 

相交流和學習令我獲益良多。除此之外 , 我會在空 

餘時間多寫簡短的⽂章 , 不但能記載我平時的⽣ 

活 , 更可以鍛練⽂筆。 

在學習語⾔的過程中 , 我慢慢發現語⾔並不只 

是⽤來回答考試題⽬的「⼯具」; 對我來說 , 它最 

有趣的地⽅是實際⽣活中的應⽤。語⾔與我們的⽇ 

常⽣活息息相關 , 倘若它不再存在 , 我們就會無法 

分享⾃⼰的觀點 , 無法與他⼈溝通。精準的語⾔, 

運⽤在⽇常⽣活之中尤其重要 ; 很多近義詞雖然字 

⾯意思相近 , 但有截然不同的⾔下之意與⽤法。由 

此可⾒, 語⾔的藝術能幫助我們準確地表達⾃⼰的 

觀點 , 避免引起誤會。

奇妙的體驗

⼤家好 ! 我是 9E 班的⾼睿捷 , 今天跟⼤ 

家分享⼀下今年在⾳樂劇的體驗 ! 我們學校的⾳ 

樂劇多年來都是我⼀整年最期待的活動之⼀。今 

年為了慶祝學校⼆⼗週年慶典 , 我們的⾳樂劇節 

⽬排練的是往年⾳樂劇的⾼光精華⽚段合成的⼀ 

個表演。藉此機會 , 我在此⾒到了⼀些已經畢業 

了的師兄師姐們 , 真的⾮常感謝學校 , 讓我們有 

機會再次跟他們同台表演。在今年的表演中 , 我 

有幸飾演⾳樂劇《貓》中 Jemima⼀⻆。對我⽽ 

⾔, 在學校禮堂的舞台上唱歌跳舞 , 每⼀次都是 

⼀場奇妙的體驗。 

疫情把我們的⽣活停滯了三年之多。⾮ 

常感謝校⻑、⽼師和導演 , 讓我們⾳樂劇團隊在 

兩年的沉寂後有機會再次登上舞台。雖然只有短 

短⼀個⽉的排練時間 ,⽽從早到晚的排練有時候 

是真的很⾟苦 , 但每⼀個與⾳樂劇⼤家庭在⼀起 

的瞬間都是愉快且充實的。我也想在此感謝我們 

貓貓團隊的各位 , 我真的很愛很愛你們 ! 我也在 

這次的過程中認識了很多新的朋友 , 也在整個⾳ 

樂劇的過程中獲益良多 , 希望在來年的⾳樂劇中 

再次在舞台上跟⼤家⾒⾯吧 !

Masters of 

Miriam Ho (10A) & Alex Tam (10E) 

The Preparation 

Just before the summer of 2022, we were invited 

to perform as the Masters of Ceremony of the 

school’s Annual Concert on 29 th June 2022. With 

the school year being the school’s 20th 

anniversary, being the Master of Ceremony is 

certainly an honour and challenge. 

And so the rigorous preparation begins… 

We began by drafting our scripts, trying to make 

our performance as creative and entertaining as 

possible. We then met frequently with our MC 

supervisors, who helped us get a foothold in 

emceeing. Together, we improved and revised our 

scripts meticulously, word by word even, in 

hopes to create an outstanding performance. 

Finally, the day has come. The butterflies in our stomachs danced around as we wrapped up our final revisions 

and final rehearsals. It was time for the show to begin. 

The Experience 

Three. Two. One…I was hustled up onto the stage, and the brightness of the fluorescent lights blinded me 

temporarily. So this is it, I thought. This is what I have been training for. Upright posture? Check. Inviting 

gestures? Check. Smile through the eyes on my face? Check. 

With everything prepared, I drew a deep, shaky breath. A torrent of last minute doubts flooded into my mind. 

What if I accidentally mispronounce a name? Or if I, God forbid, skip the performer’s list for the musical play? 

With a shake of my head, I swatted my worries away. Now is not the time to fret, I said to myself, you are already 

past the point of no return! 

Oh, how it went by like a blur—an exuberant mix of applause accompanied by my voice that did not feel like 

mine. 

Exit stage right. One, two, three, down the flights of stairs, one, two, three, around the music stands…And that 

was it. I breathed a sigh of relief, thankful that I did not commit a dreadful mistake along the way. 

Our Comments 

Being an MC for the annual concert was certainly a very memorable and rewarding experience for us. We are 

extremely grateful to have participated as a Master of Ceremony. 

We would like to thank Ms Christine Wong, Ms Cherry Cheng, and Mr Baha Ghomrassi for supervising us. We 

would also like to thank the school for this opportunity. We encourage all schoolmates to actively participate in all 

MC activities as well.

時光荏苒 , 轉眼間保良局蔡繼有學校已經創校⼆⼗周年。適逢這個⼤⽇⼦, 學校特意舉辦了⼀連兩⽇的籌款⾳樂晚 

會。⾳樂會因疫情停辦了兩年之後 ,⼤家都顯得尤為期待 , 我也非常榮幸能夠參與管樂團表演之外 , 更能成為⾳樂 

會的司儀之⼀。 

由於當時疫情仍然不穏定 , 半天的上課時間非常緊張 ; 同學們拿到司儀稿後 , 可以在校練習的時間已經少之⼜少 , 

但⼤家都盡⼒做好本分 , 爭分奪表地練習。還記得⾳樂會舉⾏前數天 , 負責的老師通知我們 ──── 司儀稿有重⼤ 

更改。時間緊迫 , 表演⽇⼦臨近 , 我和天允在爸媽的幫忙下 , 破天荒改以在家中⽤視像形式⼀起練習 , 讓我深深感 

受到 CKY 的團隊精神。 

這次⾳樂會的籌備時間較以往緊迫 , 老師和同學們都為了成功演出⽽拼盡全⼒, 我們就好像⼀家⼈為着達成家庭的 

共同⽬標⽽努⼒, 為學校的⼆⼗周年慶典畫上完美的句號。 

⼆零⼆⼆年六⽉⼆⼗九、三⼗⽇是我校每年⼀度的盛事 ── 週年籌款⾳樂會。作為蔡繼有學校的⼀份⼦, 我能為週 

年籌款⾳樂會出⼀份⼒, 是應該的 , 也是榮幸的。 

在準備期間 , 我突然收到老師消息 , 說週年⾳樂會流程有所修訂 , 因此 , 原定的司儀稿也需作修改。由於「時間 

緊 , 任務重」! 為了演出成功 , 我和拍擋透過網絡⼀起練習 , 以達致更佳效果。 

⾳樂會開始了 ! 禮堂座無虛席 , 非常熱鬧 !⼀會兒 

後 , 我該上台了 , 我既興奮⼜緊張。當「聚光燈」 

照射在我的時候 , 我什麼都看不到 , 彷彿站在⼀個 

沒有觀眾的舞台上 ; 加上我⾝負重任 , 不能怯場 , 

這⼀場精彩的表演⼀定要繼續下去。 

在這⼀次擔任主持⼈的經驗中 , 我獲益良多。我學 

會了臨危不亂 , 明⽩「辦法總比困難多」。「變 

數」在所難免 , 就好似⾳樂會流程改變了 , 只要我 

們⼀起努⼒, 問題總可解決 ── 我和拍擋透過網上 

系統練習、綵排 , 可說是⼀次很好的學習機會呢 ! 

在此 , 我要感謝老師給予我擔任司儀的機會 , 我希 

望我可以繼續為學校不同的活動出⼀份⼒, 貢獻學 

校。

Textile Outstanding Designs 

MY STAGE 中學⽣時裝設計我校同學勇奪亞軍 

本屆⽐賽以⾹港回歸為主題 , 亦是慶賀⾹港回歸 25 周年的認可活動之⼀。參賽同學 

需設計兩套同⼀系列具「可持續發展時裝」元素的秋冬服裝 ,⼊選最後⼗強的參加者獲 

「製⾐業訓練局」協助 , 將概念實踐製作成品展示出來。其中共有 96 間學校參加、超過 

500 份作品參賽 , 競爭激烈。我校楊敏羚同學獲得亞軍及最切合主題獎 ( 瑰麗海洋 ─ 共同 

推動可持續發展 ), 李以蓁同學獲得優異獎及最具創意獎。 

相信參賽同學都獲得了寶貴的經驗 , 也激勵我們所有⼈⼀起實踐海洋保育 ! 以下是對 

亞軍楊敏羚同學的採訪節錄 : 

「與時並進 , 與時俱進」是我為兩個作品起的名字 , 

他們象徵著⾹港的國際地位以及⾼速發展。整套服裝 

靈感是來源於⼈⼯智能、霓虹燈、麻將以及⼿繪陶瓷 

花紋 , 我希望透過這些元素能夠展現⾹港本⼟⽂化以 

及特⾊, 也藉著這次機會來宣傳⼀下。 

很榮幸 , 今年能夠進⼊MY STAGE 服裝設計⽐ 

賽的最後⼗強 , 對於我來說 , 這次⽐賽是⼀次終身難 

忘的經歷 , 更是⼀次來之不易的學習機會。 

最為特別的「經歷」就是親⼿製作設計上的麻 

將刺繡。在機械刺繡上 , 我是⼀位新⼿⼩⽩, 在短時 

間內從零開始學絕⾮易事。還記得最容易的步驟 —— 

上傳⼿繪圖案到軟件 , 我已經經歷了無數次失敗。

「格式錯誤」是我經常遇到的問題 , 所以我嘗試 

上網查找 , 但都以失敗告終。我開始陷⼊⾃我懷疑 : 互 

聯網這麼⼤, 怎麼會沒有相關答案呢 ? 直到最終 , 我才 

明⽩, 解決問題最好的⽅法就是靠⾃⼰, 我開始各種各 

樣的嘗試 , 最終找到了問題的根源 ——⽂件格式不適⽤ 

於某品牌縫紉機。 

看似棘⼿的問題就這樣給解決了 , 我本以為後⾯ 

會⼀路暢通無阻 , 但挑戰才剛剛開始。如何在⼀個花紋 

裡呈現兩種不同的顏⾊, 讓我頭痛不已。我不斷調整⽂ 

件裡圖案的顏⾊, 努⼒讓縫紉機能夠識別。經過無數次 

嘗試 , 在縫紉機完成第⼀種顏⾊之後停機換線 , 最終雙 

⾊圖案呈現的效果超了出我的預想 , 不同⾊彩的搭配讓 

⾹港本⼟⽂化代表 —— 麻將 , 這⼀圖案看起來更加亮 

眼。 

雖然整個製作過程都在兜兜轉轉地尋 

找問題和解決問題 , 但在經歷的這些磕磕碰 

碰後 , 我明⽩了「繩鋸⽊斷 ,⽔滴⽯穿」的 

道理。在看到成品的那⼀刻 , 我覺得所有的 

努⼒都是值得的。 

這次「經歷」也讓我深刻明⽩了在成功 

的路上必然會有絆腳⽯, 但我們要懂得在跌 

倒的地⽅爬起來繼續向前 ,⼤家⼀起前進 

吧 !

PLKCKY School 

Odd Socks Day 

Monday, 29 August 2022 

Our second annual Odd Socks Day was held on 26th August. While 

everyone at school couldn’t help glancing at each other’s ankles, 

eyebrows and smiles were raised at the sheer diversity of socks on 

display. The meaning of this fun event was not lost on anyone... Each 

and every one of us is different, special and unique in our own way; 

this is something we can all celebrate and take pride in! 

It’s OKAY to be different!

A Hackathon is a competition where students do not 

actually hack (and potentially unlock secrets in the deep 

dark web) -- instead, it is a place for participants to work 

in groups and design a software application related to a 

theme, before pitching their business model to a panel of 

judges. Keynote speeches and workshops are also 

included to inspire competitors, with content ranging from 

digital transformation, technical coding skills and 

marketing. 

Our CKY Hackathon was organised due to the positive 

feedback from last year. With the help of Mr Louis Wong 

and Miss Season Ho, our executive team of 8 Y11 (now 

Y12) students and a Y9 (now Y10) student was formed in 

January 2022 with hopes of being able to organise a 

face-to-face hackathon when the pandemic ceased. 

However the pandemic continued and on 3rd-4th June 

2022, the CKY Hackathon happened at Zoom and 

Discord. 

The turnout for our event reached a total of 32 students 

split into 10 teams, and we had many CKY parent 

volunteers helping out with the keynote speech, 

workshops, mentoring and judging. Students were able 

to learn more about prototyping, branding, marketing, 

and presentations thanks to this hackathon. They learned 

how to apply new information and ideas to address 

difficulties in our day-to-day lives, and they also learned 

how crucial it is to take the demands of the intended 

market into account while producing goods. They 

concurrently learned the value of working as a team, how 

to play to their strengths, and how to cover for 

colleagues' limitations. In the future, we plan to pass on 

the tradition of hosting the CKY Hackathon by inviting 

younger students to join our executive team, and 

hopefully one day when we come back to visit as alumni, 

we will see the CKY Hackathon still standing strong, 

expanded to welcome all Hong Kong highschool 

students.

Hour of Code Workshop 

Coding is the act of instructing a computer in a language that, with a little translation, it can 

comprehend. Similar to how you could have a recipe on how to cook something, you offer 

computer instructions in what is referred to as "code". Many people might think that coding is 

really difficult as we have to control what the computer does, but after joining the CKY Hour of 

Code Workshop I can design and create my own games. 

The original goal of The Hour of Code was to demystify "code," demonstrate that anyone can 

learn the fundamentals, and increase interest in computer science through a one-hour introduction 

to the subject. Moreover, my favourite part of the workshop was I could move the blocks around 

and make the character move around in different directions, it was fantastic! 

To conclude, the CKY Hour of Code workshop was incredibly amazing! It was a great way to 

increase our curiosity about computer science. I am definitely looking forward to some more 

wonderful workshops so I could code my own unique video games to share with my friends and 

family.

The CKY Hour of Code workshop was brilliant! I feel like I know much more than I used to know 

about Scratch as I usually use Micro:bit to code. I knew that we could customise costumes on the 

character, but I never knew how to change the character’s costumes inside the game. We learnt about 

how to make the code tidier, which was to use the “My Blocks” function! We just needed to type the 

name of the thing you want to define. Like how we had to make a code on how to control our sprite. We 

just had to make a code on defining what control (name of the sprite) is. In this lesson, we learned how 

much each arrow button has to move in either x or y position. We also learned how to use “Variables”, 

which was used for countdown and points. We also learned how to make new sprites and backdrops. I 

will definitely join next time there is a lesson. I hope that it will be how to make an obby which levels up 

whenever you win, or Minecraft as it costs money if you want to download it or perhaps a ping-pong ball 

game, which you could play against a computer or another player. Overall, I really enjoyed this Hour of 

Code workshop.

CKY Hackathon Participants' reflection 

Through this Hackathon, we were able to gain more knowledge 

about prototyping, branding, marketing and presentations. The 

workshops inspired us to consider more features we may add 

to our user interface. If we had more time or planned to 

continue working on our product, the secret to winning is 

teamwork and playing to our strengths, like pieces of a puzzle 

joined together. 

Team 1: Health Ninja (Freeman Lo, Cedric Hung, 

Michael Yung, Elliot Sun) 

One thing we can say is that the product is not the heart of the 

project, the people are. We learned the importance of considering 

the target audience when developing products and their needs. Time 

management is also very important. We were lagging behind at first 

since we did not plan out a schedule. But later, we realised that this 

was a serious issue and decided to plan out a timetable, following it 

strictly. 

Team 6: Cot Care (Terry Wong, Thomas Wong, Kyle Lee, 

Mike Lau) 

This competition was something new for 

me. Although some of us are already 

versed in technical skills taught, we got to 

make a new friend which I think is a much 

better payoff than anything we could have 

received. The Hackathon is a great 

competition experience for me. Not only did 

we learn to work as a team, but also 

practised our presentation skills 

We learned a lot about STEM perspectives and applications 

regarding Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths. We 

have the knowledge of how to apply these concepts in our 

daily lives and solve problems. We felt thrilled during the event 

as we got to work with our friends and can make a prototype of 

our own. When we knew that we won an award, we were 

excited because it meant that our idea was approved and 

validated. We look forward to participating in next year's 

competition again and hope we can get a better result next 

time and be the champions.

Project Alpha 

A Programme to Explore the World of Science 

At CKY, every child will learn a lot of Science knowledge during the Science Fair projects and science 

lessons. They are so curious to know what will happen next. Therefore, we are always looking for 

opportunities to learn Science, in order to enrich Emily’s scientific knowledge and train her skills of 

leadership, creativity, critical thinking, problem solving and communication for the future. 

One day, we found a website named “Big Bang 

Academy”, which offered a hybrid learning platform to 

turn science concepts into interactive lessons. We 

participated in the free online lessons and Emily really 

loved it after several trial sessions. Later, the academy 

introduced a 6-month science program named 

“Project Alpha” for children who are interested in 

Science and STEAM. In this programme, it covered 

topics such as biology, chemistry, astrology, forensic 

science and other useful life science. Each lesson 

introduces different science topics through videos, 

minigames and quizzes. At the end of each lesson, 

there is a unique experiment video to guide the child 

to complete a hands-on experiment that reinforces 

their learning. This curriculum matched our 

requirement to inspire Emily’s self-driven learning

through hands-on experience. She was able to build something real with her own hands to spark 

her interest. Therefore, we enrolled on the program and Emily really enjoyed this learning journey. 

Emily eagerly awaited the delivery of the experiment box each month. When it arrived, she was very 

excited to start the lesson immediately. 

“My favourite moment in the program is doing the hands-on science experiment with Agent 

Sam and Scientist Cody. I completed each experiment step by step with their guidance. 

Finally I wrote a conclusion to prove my hypothesis is correct and learned a lot of new things.” 

The Project Alpha programme helped Emily to learn a lot of science vocabulary, fundamental 

science concepts and scientific knowledge in different areas of science. It enriched her mindset of 

discovery and left a deep impression through hands-on science experiments. A list of keywords and 

lesson summary were also explained in the games and videos to reinforce her knowledge before 

each experiment. This helped her more easily memorize new science vocabulary, and she 

completed a workbook to assess her knowledge after each experiment. I believe that this 

programme can enhance her skills of asking questions, searching information for knowledge and 

analyse the results of each experiment. It is a useful programme to equip her for the future, as well 

as complement the school learning at CKY. 

To ignite a child's passion in learning, doing science is the best 

medium to enable and motivate them. Therefore, we can highly 

recommend CKY students to join Project Alpha themselves! 

Through the interactive lessons and hands-on experiments, 

learning Science is FUN!

At the start of the new academic year 2022-23, we welcomed a number of new Primary and 

Secondary teachers. By way of introduction to the school community, we asked them to share with 

us their desert island discs; special songs that they would take with them if stranded on a desert 

island! Why not get to know our new teachers better, by listening to their recommended tracks that 

help them to ‘focus on the good’!

nature. It might give us a positive mindset especially

HK Secondary School 

The cosmetic competition held by The City University of Hong Kong this summer involves elements of both 

Chemistry and Enterprise. The competition's goal was to arouse the interest of secondary school students in 

cosmetic science and to engage them in applying chemistry knowledge and experimental skills in developing 

new cosmetic formulations. Our school had three teams of students who joined the competition. They 

designed new formulae for face creams, lipsticks, and face cleansers. Here are their reflections on the 

competition. 

Face Moisturiser Team 

The competition was difficult, none of us had prior experience with cosmetic products. We 

got quite chaotic and directionless when designing our formulation and decided to opt for 

certain qualities we deemed useful (and then add everything arbitrarily afterwards). The 

exploration of these different formulations were fun, and we got to see how by minutely 

altering some substances, we got to improve or worsen our product drastically. Eventually, 

we gauged a list of qualities we wanted and emulated it after less than eight tries. This was 

the best quality product we would ever have. To then repeat the process to once again 

generate this product proved to be impossible for the rest of the competition, as we either 

forgot the composition or have done something wrong initially that led to a successful 

mistake. Ironically, a competition that was niche and exploratory in our minds led to one of 

the most eye-opening experiences for most of our group mates, as most of us did not take 

biology as an elective subject. The experience allowed us to experiment with microbiological 

tests, less rigorous testing, and a chance to write a report using latex, something new for 

some of us. 

Furthermore, the video production process was entertaining as it thoroughly challenged our creativity and 

uniqueness by creating an attractive and fulfilling video. By assessing our strengths and weaknesses, we 

decided that a more “speedy” approach by focusing on video-speech matching and information 

compressing would both be more professional and efficient, given our extremely limited video length 

requirements. The addition of Chinese rhyming and parallelism also effectively emphasised the selling points 

our product offers, accompanied by our excellent choice of footage to suitably echo the speech enabled us 

to stand out from all other fellow competitors. Unfortunately, difficulties formulating a condensed script plan 

resulted in very short footage and post-processing timespan. Luckily, under our continuous determination 

over multiple nights, we could utilise general footage for specific topics of the speech without hindering the 

quality of our final video.

Cosmetic Formulation Competition 

Lipstick Team 

Overall, this competition was a fun and eye-opening experience as it was the first time 

we created our own cosmetic product. However, our lack of experience in using 

cosmetics made us particularly clueless as to the proper formulation we should be 

using to create our product, as our goal was to create a product most desired by the 

market, yet we ourselves had no idea what these supposed qualities were. Hence, in 

the initial lipstick formation, we experienced a myriad of problems with the lipstick 

properties - it was too dry, then too oily, then too soft, so we had to do numerous trials 

in order to create a product that satisfied our group’s standards. This honed our 

problem-solving skills, which really made us appreciate and realise the hard work and 

effort that comes into making a cosmetic product - what we experienced was just the 

tip of the iceberg. 

Though this was a chemistry 

competition, we also gained valuable insight regarding 

market research and its relevance to product design, 

especially how we should be more aware of our target 

audience to create a product that most caters to them, in 

addition to developing technical skills of video shooting and 

editing which is the key in promoting the product. We would 

also like to thank our teachers for the guidance and support 

they gave us throughout the process of this competition. 

Skin Cleanser Team 

Our group also struggled to formulate cleanser formulas due to our lack of knowledge in cosmetic chemistry. It 

took a lot of patience to run through the long and tedious trial-and-error process. At some point, we even 

thought it was impossible to fabricate a formula that aligns with our marketing claim. It was a challenging 

process which required high tolerance, as we will never know the properties of our trial product until we test it 

at the end of the making process. However, we decided to trust the process instead of letting all our previous 

effort be in vain. As a result of our perseverance, we were very honoured to be rewarded with the merit award 

for our overall performance in all 3 aspects of the competition (We did not expect this outcome, too!). 

Of course, the competition experience was filled not only with challenges and hardships. We 

also enjoyed some aspects of it, especially the video-making process. We had fun planning 

and editing the scenes to emphasise the strengths of our product in a creative manner. The 

process of allowing other students to try out our product, even if only on the hands, is also 

memorable, as we see the product work its magic on their skin. Furthermore, this competition 

provided a great opportunity for us to develop various skills, from collaborative communication, 

to lab and research skills and even creativity in marketing design. Despite all our shortcomings 

in this experiment and our imperfect formula, we were satisfied with our results as we put our 

best efforts into this. We are glad we took the opportunity to participate in the competition and 

grateful for the help of our supportive teachers, who sacrificed a lot of time to oversee the 

entire process.

當初踏出第⼀步 , 是因為它是⼀份功課 , 按照⽼師的 

吩咐 , 完成學⽣的責任。 

因為每天都要做 ,⽇復⼀⽇, 慢慢地便成了習慣 , 就像 

刷⽛洗澡吃飯睡覺⼀樣 , 像是例⾏公事 , 卻堅持了下來。每 

天晚飯後 , 我就會登⼊網站 , 閱讀⽂章 , 完成選擇題 , 再來 

⼀篇延伸閱讀 , 整個過程不需花多於⼗五分鐘。 

奇妙的是 : 這⼗五分鐘 , 除了令⾃⼰懂得了許多本來看 

不懂解不通的中國漢字 , 還令我經歷了各式各樣新奇的閱讀 

體驗。如坐上時光機 , 穿越到過去 , 看看「國王的新⾐」; 

遊⾛地圖 ,⾛遍⼤江南北 , 歷盡名⼭⼤川 , 嚐盡美酒佳餚。 

偶爾 , 會覺得累了 , 想休息 , 想躲懶嗎 ? 當然會 ! 不 

過 , 當我有藉⼝讓⾃⼰偷懶⼀次 , 便會⼀⽽再 , 再⽽三 , 這 

意味著我選擇了放棄。放棄容易 , 堅持很難 ! 這時候 , 我要 

當⾃⼰的啦啦隊 , 不可讓⾃⼰有第⼀次。如果我今天放下 

了 , 明天也什麼都沒做 , 那麼我⼀年過後必然停滯不前 , 沒 

有任何進步。每天閱讀⼗五分鐘 ,⼀年就多讀⼗五本書了。 

我想⾃⼰有意義地渡過每⼀天 ,⽽不是到了年底才會細數⼀ 

年的缺失。⼼靈富裕 , 於願⾜矣。

說實話 , 剛開始做「篇篇流螢」練習的時候 , 我也有些不適 

應。⼀來課業繁重 , 時間緊迫 ,⼆來略有些悶。但做着做着就漸漸覺 

得有趣起來 ,⼀旦發現有趣 , 堅持就不是問題。「篇篇流螢」的⽂章 

包含許多課本以外的知識 ,⽽這些知識恰恰與我們的課程相聯繫。譬 

如 , 之前我只聽說過唐三彩是唐代陶器 , 但在閱讀並做完⽂章和題⽬ 

之後 , 我才瞭解到所謂「三彩」指的是⿈、綠、⽩三種給陶瓷釉彩的 

顏⾊。⽽那段時間 , 我們的中史課剛好在學習唐朝的歷史。唐代貞觀 

之治以後 , 國⼒強盛 , 唐三彩是當時的⼀種器⽫, 反映了⼤唐的興盛 

和⽂化的多樣。「篇篇流螢」的知識令我更深⼊地理解課堂所學 , 讓 

我頗有「無⼼插柳柳成蔭」的感覺。從此以後 , 我對「篇篇流螢」的 

練習更有積極性了。 

我對同學們的建議 , 概括爲五個字 :「堅持」和「不拖 

延」。第⼀, 就像以上所述 , 如果你想在課堂上成爲⼩⼩「百事 

通」, 那麼「篇篇流螢」的練習保證可以幫到你。第⼆, 如果你想克 

服⼼理疾病「拖延症」, 就從「篇篇流螢」開始踏出第⼀步吧 ! 由於 

此平台每天都會發表⼀個新的練習 ( 除了週末 ), 所以如果其中⼀天 

不做練習 , 第⼆天便要做兩倍的練習 , 甚⾄不得不在週末⼀次做完 , 

實在是有點疲勞。所以 , 強烈建議⼤家每天堅持做⼀篇 , 如果你能在 

此電⼦閱讀計劃中收穫不拖延的快樂 , 那麼做功課也不會拖延了。

提起中⽂辯論隊 ,⼤家也許會聯想起邏輯嚴謹的思維 , 咄咄逼⼈的反駁 , 和得⼼應⼿的論據。 

殊不知 , 正所謂「寶劍鋒從磨礪出」, 刺激的⽐賽背後 , 是⽇⽇夜夜的練習、會議和資料搜集。 

我們剛獲得了「⾹港辯 

論超級聯賽」⼄組冠 

軍 , 新學年進⼊了甲 

組 , 挑戰新的⾼度。 

2021-2022 的辯論歷程 : 

今年 , 我校中⽂辯論隊在各項⽐賽中收獲不少佳績 , 也同時積累了不少實戰的經驗。 

21 年九⽉到⼗⽉份期間 , 在「⻘年新城」辯論⽐賽中 , 我們每場⽐賽都奪得了最佳辯員的榮 

譽。我們先與德望學校辯論「港府應將過渡性房屋納⼊房策階梯」, 並以 3:0 的⽐數獲勝。在第⼆ 

輪⽐賽中 , 我們對上前星島⽐賽冠軍 — 陳瑞芝紀念中學 , 討論「港府應容許提早提取強積⾦供款以 

供市⺠購買居所」, 賽況異常激烈 , 我們各獲得⼀票 , 第三位評判給出同分。最後⽐賽⽅以整體分 

數計算 , 陳瑞芝紀念中學最終勝出 , 我校學⻑們⾮常有⾵度地恭喜對⽅, 獲得了主辦⽅⼀致的稱 

讚。 

其後⼗⼀⽉份在「第三⼗七屆星島全港校際辯論⽐賽」中 , 我們與匯基書院辯論「港府應改 

以『與病毒共存』取代『清零』為防疫策略」, 雖以 1:2 的⽐分遺憾落敗 , 但勝敗乃兵家常事 , 我 

們並不因此⽽氣餒 , 每次都會⼀起做戰後檢討 , 期望能改善不⾜。

不同年級的辯論隊員互相搭配 , 以舊帶新。 

我們也在 22 年四五⽉加了以普通話為主 

要語⾔的 ESF 英基盃。在⾸輪⽐賽中 , 我們對 

上南島中學 , 並以 3:0 獲勝。在接下來的兩場 

預賽中 , 我們以相近的分數都遺憾落敗。不 

過 , 我們仍然獲得了衝進季軍賽的資格。最 

終 , 我們在「全球暖化已無法挽回 , 放棄努⼒ 

是明智之舉」的辯論賽中落敗 , 獲得殿軍。 

當然 , 這個學年 , 最精彩也是最值得慶 

祝的⽐賽便是貫穿全年的「⾹港辯論超級聯 

賽」。我們⼀路過關斬將 , 其中我們以 3:0 的 

⽐數贏了前聯中冠軍 —— 瑪利諾修院學校和聖 

⼠提反書院。我們更是以 2:1 的⽐數贏了上屆 

聯賽⼄組冠軍 —— 崇真書院 , 並與前基杯冠軍 

——⾹港華仁書院同分。最終 , 我們不僅獲得 

了此組別冠軍 , 還在 7 場⽐賽中 , 獲得了 7 次 

「最佳辯論員」的榮譽。 

我們和即將畢業的學⻑學姐們合照 , 即便畢業了 , 學 

⻑學姐們也經常回隊幫忙準備⽐賽。 

感想 : 

身為⼀位新成員 , 我⾮常感謝中⽂辯論 

隊給予我的機會 , 讓我能夠在這個學年中參與 

各種⽐賽。在辯論隊中 , 我不僅發掘了⾃⼰對 

辯論的興趣和熱愛 , 還在其中學會了許多邏輯 

性、語⾔、表達⽅⾯的技巧。我也認識了⼀班 

團結有愛的隊友和⽼師們 , 讓我體會到辯論的 

樂趣。 

最後 , 祝我們中⽂辯論隊再接再厲 , 不

Hello everyone, I am Sophia Yeung from CKY’s 

Class of 2020, studying Bachelor of Business 

Administration in International Business and Global 

Management (BBA (IBGM)) from HKU. The 

pandemic has reshaped our personal relationships 

in unprecedented ways, which is certainly a hurdle 

to achieving academic fulfilment and success in 

university throughout these challenging times. “You 

will never know your limits until you push yourself to 

them.” is the only piece of advice I could give. In 

terms of academics, it is unfortunate that ¾ of my 

semesters are held virtually through zoom. Yet, 

despite the uncertainties, rather than limiting myself, 

I have joined different programmes offered by HKU, 

for instance, a virtual cross-cultural research 

programme, to network with ASEAN and Japanese 

University 

students in teams to deliver proposals to corporate 

professionals in solving real-world business 

challenges. Not only have I learnt eye-opening 

business corporate branding ideas from different 

stakeholders’ perspectives, but I also developed lifelong 

friendships with students from diverse cultures 

and backgrounds. Socially, I am extremely fortunate 

to have exclusive internship opportunities during the 

pandemic, such as The Hong Kong General 

Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC). This internship 

offers me valuable business opportunities, activities 

and talented people I have met and networked with. 

I have pushed myself through all these experiences 

during the pandemic, which helped to develop my 

strong enthusiasm for working with NGOs to make a 

social impact on society. All in all, don’t be afraid to 

try something new; who you were when you 

graduated from CKY might be vastly different from 

who you’re going to be when you graduate from 

university.

My main mantra is to “try everything”. Although 

stepping outside your comfort zone can be scary, 

it can also be fun. The time when I became a 

freshman at HKU was unfortunately when the 

pandemic first began. Understandably, the 

pandemic has caught most universities off-guard 

which resulted in many orientation programmes 

being cancelled. For this reason, my learning 

process was one that lacked guidance and I 

struggled during the transition from being a high 

school student to a freshman. Fortunately, I soon 

met my close-knit circle of friends by actively 

reaching out in lectures and tutorials. From 

supporting each other academically to hanging out 

and playing board games, we navigate through 

the uncertainties and rise to the challenges 

together. To my fellow cohorts— do not worry too 

much about university and enjoy your high school 

life while you can! 

Hello CKY! I am Lucia Yeung from Class of 2020 and am 

studying for a Bachelor of Laws in HKU. It is no doubt 

that the pandemic has affected every community across 

the planet. The difficulties and frustrations that have 

been felt at times over the switch to online have 

reminded us of the value and pleasure of face-to-face 

teaching and learning, which we used to take for granted. 

Although university lectures and tutorials were conducted 

virtually, I find it to be fruitful as I had the opportunity to 

engage with professors and tutors on different legal 

topics. For example, in studying criminal law, we often 

debated whether alcohol-induced hallucinosis due to the 

sudden cession of drugs should be treated on par with 

intoxication in Hong Kong. Besides law, I have also 

found my course about entrepreneurship to be 

rewarding. I had the opportunity to interact with small 

businesses discussing the problems they face amid the 

pandemic. Participating in a case competition with my 

teammates was also an eye-opening experience as they 

frequently offered innovative arguments and new ways to 

approach the business problem.

正在閱讀這篇⽂章的同學、⽼師、家⻑、校友和朋友們 , 你們好 , 我是 2018 年畢業的 Natalie 意 

婷。從 CKY 畢業后 , 我感覺⾃⼰從未離開過這個地⽅。每次返回學校 , 我的家⼈、朋友和⽼師就會問 : 

「你為什麼⼜在學校 ?」、「你還沒有畢業嗎 ?」、「你⼜在扮學⽣啊 !」說實話 , 我真的很喜歡和享 

受我在 CKY 的時光 , 直到今天 , 我仍然不時打開⼿機裡的相冊 , 試圖回憶學校的點點滴滴 , 懷念以前⼗ 

⼀年級的平常⽇⼦: 早上跟同學聊天準備上課、在⼩息與⽼師開會討論活動、在語⽂課上緊張地記筆 

記、有時會在在地理課上打個盹 , 還會在放學后和週六練習⾳樂劇 ⋯⋯ 在學校的每⼀天 , 我過得好充 

實 ,⽽現在⻑⼤後的我 , 總是尋找機會重溫我在⺟校裏的時光。 

幸運的是 , 今年是 CKY⼆⼗周年校慶 , 劉總校⻑和湛副校⻑邀請了⼀群校友回校 , 再次表演學 

校歷屆的經典⾳樂劇。起初 , 我以為回⺟校表演可能會很奇怪。現在的我 , 已經踏⼊社會⼯作第⼆年的 

年⻘⼈。我⼼裡忐忑不安地想 :「表演戲劇時 , 會不會很笨拙連舞都跳不了呢 ?」、「我是不是太⽼ 

了 ?」、「這會浪費我的時間嗎 ?」、「我能從中得到什麼嗎 ?」等等。但考慮兩天後 , 有⼀個原因讓 

我肯定要回去的 , 那就是我想再次成為⼀名中學⽣, 重溫我的中學時光。 

在我開始排練的第⼀天 , 我們就像 2017 年⼀樣上學去。排練前 , 我和朋友們聚集在深⽔埗吃了茶 

餐廳的午餐 , 然後乘坐計程⾞回學校。進⼊禮堂時 , 我們的導師湛副校、Mr. Tsui、冼⽼師、Ms. 

Chau、Ms. Wong、Mr. Alz 都以笑容迎接着我們。⽽他們都在緊守各⾃的崗位 :Mr. Tsui 和 Mr. Alz 坐在禮 

堂的第⼀排拿著⿆克⾵指導著 Be Our Guest 舞台台上的中學⽣、Ms. Wong 在和獨唱的學⽣練習、Ms. 

Chau 在跟樂隊學⽣發樂譜、⽽湛副校和 Ms. Sin 在準備《⻄城故事》⼥孩們的裙⼦。這就好像韓劇裡時 

間倒流⼀樣 , 我坐着時光機回到了過去 , 每個⼈在擔任不變的⻆⾊,⽽這些⼩細節砌成⼀幅拼圖 , 重現 

了我回憶中 CKY⾳樂劇的模樣。

2017 年和 2022 年的學校⾳樂劇有什麼分別呢 ? 這次回來 , 我是以校友的身分表演的 , 和以前 

有⼀點點分別 , 例如 : 我們多提供經驗的分享和意⾒,⽽且因疫情所致 , 學⽣們失去了兩年向師兄師 

姐們學習的機會 , 更需要我們營造⼀個輕鬆的氣氛 , 以令同學可以在舞台上⾃如地表演。我也注意到 

⼤多數的學⽣也會在休息的時候拿出⼿機 , 似乎都在看 Instagram 或者發短信。另⼀⽅⾯, 我帶了⼀ 

幅 UNO Flip 跟學⽣和校友們⼀起玩 , 甚⾄乎我們拿起禮堂的⿆克⾵舉辦了⼀場說唱⼤戰 Rap 

Battle。我想說 : 每⼀年的⾳樂劇 , 創造最美好的回憶都不只是在台上的那⼀刻 ,⽽是製作背後練習 

的時候與朋友們嘻嘻哈哈的時光 : 在後台的牆上⽤粉筆寫上⾃⼰的名字、與⼀⼤群⼈玩節奏遊戲、聽 

著後輩們可愛地分享在學校談戀愛的故 

事。最美好的回憶 , 從來都不是在⼿機 

上能尋找到的 ,⽽是當我們專注於與周 

圍的⼈互動時所製造的 ! 

能否創造美好的回憶發⾃⾃身的 

內⼼。我想分享的是 : 形成⼀段美好的 

回憶有兩個基本的因素 : 身邊的⼈和⾃ 

⼰的⼼態。我肯定不是在學校唱歌或跳 

舞的最佳⼈選 , 但我在 CKY 的 12 年內 

努⼒地參與了六部⾳樂劇 , 並在每⼀場 

中都盡全⼒表演 , 認識更多朋友 , 和更 

多同學融⼊其中。當⽼師和學⽣們在共 

同⽤⼼創造⼀個⾳樂劇時 , 許多⼩細節 

成為了我們點點滴滴的回憶。這些回憶 

得來不易 , 凡是⾃然⽽然的事情都不會 

留在你的腦海裡 , 但那些你盡⼒⽽為的 

事情將永遠留在你的⼼中。
