It also stunts their verbal andsocial skills.According to the American Academy ofPediatrics the set recommendations fora child’s screen time depending on agego as follows:• 18 months and younger: No screentime at all, except for video chatting.• 18-24 months: Parents who chooseto introduce digital media shouldchoose high-quality programming.You should also watch it with yourchildren to help them understandwhat they’re seeing.• 2 to 5 years: Limit screen use to1 hour per day of high-qualityprogrammes. Parents should co-viewmedia with children to help themunderstand what they are seeing andapply it to the world around them.• 6 and older: Place consistent limitson the time spent using media, andthe types of media, and make suremedia does not take the place ofadequate sleep, physical activity andother behaviors essential to health.• They also ask that you designatemedia-free times together. This canbe things such as dinner or driving,as well as media-free locations athome, such as bedrooms.2.
