WHY DO WE PRAY?

I know a guy who said he didn’t want to bother God with prayers for small things. He was
afraid that when he needed something big, God would turn him down because he had asked
for too many other things. Maybe that sounds strange to you, but people have all kinds of
beliefs. Confusion about prayer is one of those with lots of differing opinions.
In my experience, I pray because I know there is much that I can’t do – only God can do it.
Most things are out of my control, but nothing is sever out of His control. A cancer diagnosis
for your loved one; a looming bankruptcy for your business; surviving your terrible car
accident; finding a new job after you’ve lost this one; or knowing whether to stay in your
marriage or walk away. All those get out of our control fast, but we know Someone who
can.
My advice is to talk to your Father everyday and tell him anything that’s bothering you, or
someone you care for. Then listen quietly for a few minutes and see if He tells you
something that you need to know. Make it a habit, and you’ll be glad you did.

SAVE THE DATE! Some of you may have attended our National Day of Prayer online event
back in May – it was a beautiful time in God's presence. We are planning a similar event on
Veterans Day, November 11 at 8:00 pm Eastern time. Representatives from the various
branches of the armed forces will be leading in prayer for our military. I hope you'll put it on
your calendar and plan to attend.
