WHEN GOD DOESN'T ANSWER OUR PRAYERS

by Tim Heidenriech | June 18, 2022

We all know that we go to God and ask for many things, but they don’t always come to pass. Whether we need relief from

crushing financial problems, wisdom about a failing relationship, or healing for a loved one, we know we can ask God and

He will hear us.

However, He won’t always do things our way. His ways are higher than our ways, and His plan for us is better for us than

our own plans. I want to recommend a three step approach that I’ve used in those situations.

1. Tell God what you want. Pray to Him as if He were standing there and you are just talking. Adam and Eve used to

walk in the cool evenings and talk with God. That was the beginning of prayer as we know it.

2. Watch what He does. Don’t stew about it and worry yourself sick. That won’t change anything so don’t waste your

effort on it. It also shows that you aren’t fully trusting in Him.

3. Be content with the outcome. Even if your loved one dies, or you file bankruptcy, or your friend never speaks to you

again, be content. God heard your prayer, made a decision, and it’s the perfect decision. Such is life – simply trust that

the best will come – eventually – maybe even after you are dead – but it will come.

Remember who God is. He is the one and only, true, living God of all creation. And He cannot be wrong about anything.

However, we can. Trust in Him and the power of prayer.

IDEALS OF SELF–GOVERNANCE

ALLOCATION OF CIVIL AUTHORITY

Mortals are entitled to liberty; they should create their systems of government; they should adopt their constitutions or other

charters of civil authority and administrative procedure. And having done this, they should select their most competent and

worthy fellows as chief executives. For representatives in the legislative branch they should elect only those who are

qualified intellectually and morally to fulfill such sacred responsibilities. As judges of their high and supreme tribunals only

qualified intellectually and morally to fulfill such sacred responsibilities. As judges of their high and supreme tribunals only

those who are endowed with natural ability and who have been made wise by replete experience should be chosen.

If men would maintain their freedom, they must, after having chosen their charter of liberty, provide for its wise, intelligent,

and fearless interpretation to the end that there may be prevented:

1. Usurpation of unwarranted power by either the executive or legislative branches.

2. Machinations of ignorant and superstitious agitators.

3. Retardation of scientific progress.

4. Stalemate of the dominance of mediocrity.

5. Domination by vicious minorities.

6. Control by ambitious and clever would-be dictators.

7. Disastrous disruption of panics.

8. Exploitation by the unscrupulous.

9. Taxation enslavement of the citizenry by the state.

10. Failure of social and economic fairness.

11. Union of church and state.

12. Loss of personal liberty.

These are the purposes and aims of constitutional and representative government. ~ The Urantia Book

WILL THE U.S. FALL JUST AS ROME DID?

By Spencer Klavan | July 12, 2022 | The Federalist

When will we — or did we — pass the point of no return? Should we expect our own Julius Caesar? Rome’s example can

furnish some guidance.

When exactly was Rome’s republic doomed? That ancient question has a special urgency now, as our American republic

seems to be flirting with its own downfall. When will we — or did we — pass the point of no return? Maybe Rome’s

example can furnish some guidance.

By the time Julius Caesar rose to prominence in Rome, the republic was so warped that few informed observers expected

it to last the century. Rome’s borders had exploded outward during the 200s and 100s B.C. Legislators had devised a plan to

distribute newly acquired land more or less equally among the citizenry, making room for an expanding population and a

healthy middle class. But wealthy patricians, exploiting loopholes in the system, sucked up vast tracts and cultivated

them with imported slave labor. Soldiers who fought to capture new territory found themselves dispossessed of it upon

their return home.

THE ART OF SPEAKING AND LIVING FREE

By An Ordinary American Citizen | Sunday, July 10, 2022

In Montgomery, Alabama, a woman climbed on the Cleveland Avenue bus and sat down. She was tired from working all

day, so she took the first seat available. In the front of the bus. She wasn't supposed to sit there, but in that simple action

she was making a statement.

It was neither spoken out loud nor painted in graffiti. It was neither violent nor aggressive. It was a simple, silent act that

spoke volumes and helped to change the course of history in this country.

Rosa Parks exercised her right to freedom in America when she sat down on that bus. And she taught us all a lesson in

the process.

She had options. She could have just gone to the back of the bus, and sat down. That’s what the people in the front of the

bus expected her to do. Instead, she took a risk. She did the unexpected…and probably made a few people uncomfortable

at the same time.

Rather than doing the expected, Rosa took action. And most important, showed us that if freedom is to survive, it requires

the actions of the free. Conversely, by not openly living our freedoms, we allow them – however unintentionally – to

erode away.

Freedom of Speech

When applied to the freedom of speech, the situation is this: By not speaking our minds or supporting the right of others

to do the same, we contribute to the dilution and ultimate erosion of the right to free speech. How does this happen?

We shut up because responding invites criticism and challenge. We allow ourselves to be shouted down because shouting

back could invite violence. We allow our beliefs to be laughed at without defending them because we don’t know how.

Fear of reprisal is in control.

The good news is that this can change. We can learn to defend our beliefs, analyze and discuss concepts, and find

common ground among areas of disagreement. We can help to create a marketplace of thought that becomes a path

forward for our country. But first, we have to find the “Why.”

The “Why” Comes First

Before we can talk the talk, we have to walk the walk. And the walk must stand on solid ground. We have to know what

we believe, individually, before we can talk convincingly about it.

One good “why” may be that freedom is in short supply. Freedom House is an organization that has been documenting

freedom around the world since 1947. As of May 2021, Freedom House reported that fewer than 20% of the world’s

population lived in a free country. Put another way, we have what more than 80% of the rest of the world does not.

But is there something more? Is there something special about freedom in America that speaks to the human spirit? Why

do so many people uproot their lives, and even risk them, in order to come here?

Fifteen years ago I was seated at dinner, next to a Nigerian woman. A university professor, she was working here on a

green card, but hoped to become a citizen. I asked her “why?” Why here? Why not Nigeria? Her answer was simple.

“Choice. In Nigeria I could be a teacher or a nurse. In America I can be whatever I want to be. I can be me.” That was her

“why”. I’ve asked immigrants the same question many times, and gotten basically the same answer. Staying in America

was motivated by the freedom of choice. The freedom to be. And we must protect it.

Find Your Why – and Share It

Before we open our mouths to speak, there’s a bottom line. We have to know what we really believe…not about politics,

but about the country.

but about the country.

Remember when the Democrats were known as the party of the working class? Now that title seems to be shifting to the

Republicans, maybe even to the Libertarians. No matter where we land on any issue, hanging our beliefs about the

country on a political ideology is iffy at best. At worst, we could find ourselves on a constantly evolving landscape and not

know what we believe.

Each of us needs to define our own beliefs and must be able to state them in just one or two sentences. What we need is

an elevator speech. A good elevator speech has 3 elements: the grabber, the solution, and the hook. The grabber gets their

interest, the solution presents an option, and the hook makes them think. So here’s an example – a bit oversimplified, I’ll

admit.

Grabber: I understand that freedom isn’t free.

Solution: To stay free I have to exercise my freedoms, and that sometimes has a price.

Hook: And, though it’s a little scary to say this, staying free is worth the price I might have to pay.

Why is something like this effective? Like the elevator floor, the statement is flat. It’s non-emotional, non-political, and

personal. It doesn’t draw lines, blame, or ridicule. It makes room for other opinions, without asking what those opinions

might be. Giving our own version of the elevator speech also strengthens us, individually. It’s like a mantra, and if

repeated often enough helps us remain calm and focused while others may not.

But the best thing about the elevator speech is that it can open the door to discussion. And this brings us right back to free

speech. We have to do it to keep it. We have to speak up. But how? Particularly when we are speaking to people we love,

who we know believe differently than we do.

How to Speak So that Others Will Listen

It’s absolutely true. There are a few people on the far ends of any issue who won’t listen, no matter what. Don’t waste

your time on them. Here are some tips for speaking to the rest of us.

Pick your battles carefully. Some people have a reputation for being argumentative about any subject at any time,

so others just tune them out. Don’t be that guy!

Choose a good time. Drawing a line in the cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving is not a good plan. But there may be a

time when family is just sitting around, when people are calm and everyone is able to listen. And actually discuss.

Get your facts straight. Don’t speak from emotion, speak from fact and be able to document it.

Look for common ground. Realize that areas of agreement exist even when issues and people seem most divided.

Be willing to concede. In any discussion, no one gets everything they want. But if everyone can get something, then

we are inching forward as a country.

Don’t go on the attack, even when others do. Build a reputation as a voice of fact-based calm.

Realize that you are planting seeds. You won’t necessarily know who your words influence. Plant them anyway.

Don’t Stop Speaking Out

The price of any freedom is the willingness of a free people to exercise it. So it is with speech. It is only with words and

actions that we remain free. Inaction and silence send the wrong message and give tacit approval to the actions of those

who would control us. And as evidenced by the attempt to silence voices on social media, on college campuses, in

corporations, and school board meetings, the desire to control is pervasive.

So let’s honor the actions of Rosa Parks by our own. Because, in the words of the author, William Faulkner, “We must be

free not because we claim freedom, but because we practice it.”

An Ordinary American Citizen, aka Linda Malcak, has been writing since she got her first fat black pencil in kindergarten.

She is passionate about free speech, self-governance, and respecting the sacrifices others have made so that we can live free.

"AMERICA MUST WIN THIS WAR.

THEREFORE, I WILL WORK, I WILL SAVE,

I WILL SACRIFICE, I WILL ENDURE,

I WILL FIGHT CHEERFULLY AND DO MY UTMOST,

AS IF THE ISSUE OF THE WHOLE STRUGGLE DEPENDS

ON ME ALONE." – Private Martin Treptow

REP. GOHMERT: 'VIOLATIONS OF RIGHTS OF JAN. 6 PRISONERS MIND BLOWING'

BY: PATRICIA TOLSON | JULY 8, 2022

Jan. 6 prisoner's fiancé recalls: 'We were covered head to toe from all directions with red laser dots from their assault rifles.'

At a June 15 press conference in Washington, three GOP representatives joined forces with the Patriot Freedom Project and

family members of Jan. 6 prisoners to call out the injustice and denial of due process rights for those incarcerated.

According to Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), the “violations of American rights” is “mind-blowing.”

“We are extremely concerned to see a Department of Justice, not about justice,” Gohmert said at the press conference. “It’s

about vengeance. It’s about intimidation and the tactics that we’ve been seeing from this DOJ and the disregard for rights

coming out of investigations showing the FBI lied, intel lied. The DOJ lies. It ought to concern every single American.”

JAN. 6 COMMITTEE – ASSERTION OF CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS PROOF OF GUILT

BY: MARGOT CLEVELAND | JULY 12, 2022

Implying guilt based on a witness asserting his rights ‘is a McCarthy-esque tactic that offends the Constitution and is

unworthy of the United States Congress.’

The Jan. 6 Committee is abusing its power by asking inappropriate questions about their fellow Americans’ beliefs and

associates, and publicly portraying witnesses who exercise their Fifth Amendment rights as guilty — all to put on a show

trial. Later on Tuesday, the Jan. 6 Committee will hold yet another public hearing, this one purportedly to focus “on the

role of extremists” in the attack on the Capitol.

While the precise script for the afternoon’s proceedings remains unknown, last week Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin

previewed the committee’s plans, telling The New York Times that when public hearings resumed in July, “he intends to

lead a presentation that will focus on the roles far-right groups like the Proud Boys, the Oath Keepers and 1st Amendment

Praetorian played in the Capitol attack.” According to the Times, “Mr. Raskin has also promised to explore the connections

between those groups and the people in Mr. Trump’s orbit.”

WHAT'S YOUR PROMISE

By Warrior Heart | 28 June 2022

COS had two information tables during last October’s, 2021 Indianapolis Gun and Knife Show, which was proclaimed to be

the largest show East of the Mississippi. These types of events are fun to volunteer for, to help man the table and present the

COS message. We often find ourselves in the middle of a sea of like-minded, Patriotic, Second Amendment Lovers. Most

were veterans; many were public servants of some sort. There is always open and spicy discussion at our tables; people are

not afraid to express their own thoughts and feelings about the state of this nation.

Outside of my volunteer work with COS, I spend probably too much time sitting, contemplating things that interest me;

infinity, the universe, Einstein’s thought process, a future life with my new girlfriend. I wonder what I will do when I am asked if I

believe in Jesus with the threat of losing my head if I do. I wonder what I will do when a Sheriff and a couple National Guardsmen

bang on my door and report they are here to take my gun. Words are cheap. It’s easy to sound brave. But the question stands and

we all must honestly consider what we will do when that time comes. We will be standing alone, facing a dominating

authoritative force. They are here to violate my rights to possess and bear arms. My family is in the living room, my son watching

me intensely. I wonder what I will do. I wonder what kind of man I really am. I wonder if this love of freedom and liberty can

stand against the fear that stands at my door. We should all seriously contemplate these wonderments. What will I do when....?

We need to be honest in our answer. It’s just self-talk; no one is judging us or our thoughts. It’s safe to be honest in our answer.

During a break from manning our table, I was walking around other areas of the show and thinking again, what would I do if

they came to take my gun? Looking around, many with rifles slung across their shoulder, I wondered if any others had these

same concerns, so, I started asking.

“Uh, Sir? Hi. My name is George. I’m with COS and I have a question for you.”

“Ya, what’s that?”

At this point, I knock hard three times on a nearby table. I rap the table hard trying to simulate someone banging on a door. I also

say, “This is the Sheriff. We’re here to seize your guns, as ordered by the courts.”

Whatever the phrasing would be, my point is made. I ask the gentleman, “Sir, what would you do at this point? Would you let them

Whatever the phrasing would be, my point is made. I ask the gentleman, “Sir, what would you do at this point? Would you let them

in? Would you not open the door and make them have to break in? Would you fight, physically fight a sheriff, a local

law enforcement officer and a couple national Guardsmen; a fight you will lose, to stand as best you could for you freedoms?

Would you fire upon them if it came to that? Even with your family in the next room?”

Many thought for several seconds before they responded to my questions. All said they would stand up for their rights. Again,

I thought to myself how words are cheap. But I didn’t push the matter any further with people I asked. I wasn’t there to argue with

them or break down their beliefs in themselves. I was there to make them think and to ponder such a scenario in their minds as I

have in my own. There was one man that I asked whose response I will never forget.

He was peering down the sites of a handgun he was considering when I walked up to him. He was a large man...no, this guy

was huge! Not fat huge, beast huge. I had to tilt my head back to look him in the face. He had a good head-and-a-half on me.

I said, “Sir...?” He didn’t look at me, he just kept examining the handgun.

“What?”

“Sir.” I knocked on the table again as I had been doing. “What would you do if they came to your door for your guns? Would

you fight them? With your family in the next room? Could you shoot an officer to protect your home and your rights?”

It wasn’t his answer that impressed me. It was the immediacy of his response. There was zero hesitation in his answer.

“Yes. I took an oath and I live by that oath and my word.”

Ah yes...the Oath. I’ve taken it probably a dozen times on different occasions. It’s the Oath where we swear to protect and defend

the Constitution of these United States against all enemies both foreign and domestic. Presidents take the same Oath as do all

personnel entering the military service. I believed him.

I know what my answer would be to the Jesus question. My answer will be a true, sincere, resounding, no-doubt-I-mean-it, YES.

Jesus promises me a home in his Kingdom if I always trust him and believe in him.

But what do I gain by standing by my Oath? There is no promise of any riches or raves from family and friends. In fact, no one

will probably ever know what my response was... except me.

There is much to be said about a Noble heart and mind. I will keep my Oath because I learned a long time ago, that sometimes all

we have to give is our word; our promise. Personally, I place the highest value on my promises, sometimes it’s much to the

chagrin of my girlfriend, Kathy, but I think she realizes that this rule applies to promises made to her as well.

Well, when the time comes and you are given the opportunity to Stand-Up, remember you have two choices, and you have

to decide how much value you place on your own word.

Choice #1, yield to the authority. You will live with that for the rest of your life, even if you are able to justify it.

Your second choice is to honor your Oath, honor your word, and honor all those who came before... and made a similar choice

of sacrifice.

For me...I’ll fight and die on my feet before I live on my knees with shame in my heart.

States Indiana.

Report from Larry Hutson on our activities at CARMEL FEST on the 3rd and 4th of July:

"I had 15 volunteers besides myself to help with manning the booth from Noon to 10:00 P.M. over the two day period. Of those 15,

seven were strangers, i.e., newcomers that I found and called in the DD as volunteers. The other eight were known COS

supporters or office holders. Susan Peery came all the way from Richmond, IN to help on Monday, the 4th and John Holmes

worked two shifts, one on each day. Larry Hartmann came to my rescue with paper petitions after I found out that Wi-Fi was

not available as it was advertised to be. The people traffic was about the same both days and we logged 46 petition signers

(entered into the system), and we did hand out a lot of material to individuals who seemed excited about what we were about,

but wanted more time to study it a bit." ~ Congratulations to Larry and all of the volunteers on a job well done!
