When Joseph and Mary made the long journey toward Bethlehem, they no doubt 

experienced fear and disappointment when the innkeeper said, “We have no 

room.” 

“While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her 

firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there 

was no room for them in the inn.” Luke 2:6-7 (NIV) 

The inn was full. But this obviously did not take our heavenly Father by surprise. Nor 

stop God’s eternal plan for our salvation and redemption. It is the greatest story ever 

told. Jesus entered his own creation to love and serve humanity and show us “the way.” 

“Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through 

Him.” John 14:6 (NIV) 

PARALLELS TO THE PERSECUTED 

When new disciples, particularly in areas hostile to Christianity, put their faith in Jesus, 

they are often told by radicals, “We have no room for you,” and “You are not welcome 

here.” 

Metaphorically, “there is no place at the inn.” 

They are often ostracized from their families and communities. Some are beaten, 

tortured, raped, and murdered because of their newfound faith. 

At International Christian Concern (ICC), we strive for Christians worldwide to have a 

place where they are welcomed into the family of Jesus with open arms and where 

they have a safe home, are loved, and are cared for. Our hearts break when families and 

children are shunned. 

Of course, we could not embark on this journey without your faithful support. You share 

the same ideals. Your heart breaks, too.

The inn may have been closed to Mary and Joseph, but God supplied a manger, which 

was a trough for feeding animals. His grace, timing, and provision are perfect. He always 

supplies just what we need.

WHERE MOST NEEDED FUND 

Lifelong Scars and Recovery 



A radical Islamic terrorist detonated his 

explosive device outside a church in 

Samarinda, Indonesia. Four toddlers—Alvaro 

(age 4), Anita (2), Intan (2), and Trinity (3) 

were playing nearby and took the lion’s 

share of the blast. Intan tragically lost her 

young life the next day. The others suffered 

lifelong scars. ICC covered medical and travel 

expenses for the survivors’ families over the 

past six years. For us, serving Trinity and the 

other young victims is the very picture of 

serving the persecuted.

quickly to help our persecuted 

brothers and sisters worldwide. 

Cruise ships cannot turn quickly. 

Speed boats, however, can turn on 

a dime. Our Where Most Needed 

Fund helps us act like a speed 

boat and supports all ministry 

areas – assistance, advocacy, and 

awareness. We must be quick and 

flexible as we navigate our ministry 

waters, while making changes and 

adjusting things. We refer to ICC 

as the Special Ops of persecution 

ministry.

Holy Spirit guides and directs our

Families Coming to 

Christ in North Korea 

ICC RADIO BROADCASTS ARE HITTING HOMES INSIDE THE HERMIT KINGDOM 

When North Korean defector and Christian Illyong Ju told his story at ICC’s 2022 Persecutor of 

the Year Awards press event in Washington, D.C., it reinforced the need to evangelize to the 

Hermit Kingdom. Illyong shared how his family came to Christ by listening – discreetly – to 

Bible broadcasts on their contraband radio. While his immediate family escaped North Korea, 

relatives continue to endure brutal conditions in prison labor camps. 

Because radio is a powerful tool for reaching North Koreans, ICC 

broadcasts the gospel twice daily inside North Korea. Please 

help us continue and expand this successful gospel outreach.

Learning Center 

in Indonesia 

A couple has been evangelizing in Indonesia for 

seven years and work tirelessly to preach the gospel 

to their community. More than 40 children regularly 

attend their learning center, but the students do 

not have Bibles. ICC provided the center with Bibles 

to distribute to the next generation of believers. 

Help us continue to support the learning center 

through our Gospel: Bibles and Broadcasts fund.

ICC PROVIDES AID TO A DRC 

ORPHANAGE 

More than 200 little ones pack a children’s 

refugee shelter in the Democratic Republic 

of Congo (DRC). All are orphans after 

their parents were killed by terrorists of 

the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). ICC 

recently visited the shelter and orphanage 

run by Pastor Immanuel and wife Dorcas. 

ICC bought mattresses and food for the kids 

and will install a fishpond to supply longterm 

sustenance. 

We cannot bring back the children’s 

parents. We can only relieve their 

suffering and make their lives better— 

with your grateful support. These 

orphans and other survivors are 

aided through the Restore: Lives and 

Communities fund.

Heartbreaking, necessary work. 

“We are thankful to God for giving us this burden of receiving children from 

all over Congo to give them a chance to live. All of them were rescued from 

the villages after their parents were killed by the rebels that kill Christians. 

Some were picked from their mother’s corpses as they suckled, not knowing 

they were dead. Others were rescued from the forest after their parents were 

kidnapped and later killed. The sad part is that millions of children in Congo 

die after their parents are killed or out of hunger when they are kidnapped. 

Others turn out to be rebels and child soldiers after being radicalized by the 

ADF and return to kill people in the villages where they were born. 

“Our work here has been fantastic. We have seen babies grow into teenagers 

and get absorbed back into the community. We have seen others getting 

educated and coming back to assist us. But we also have faced challenges 

that almost make us give up. We have lost children who came in sick or who 

got sick while here and died. We also depend on well-wishers to feed, clothe 

and educate all these children. Sometimes we go without food and medicine. 

But all in all, we have seen the hand of God in all this work, and we are 

determined to continue rescuing orphans of war. Thank you [ICC] for coming 

to see what we are doing and for the assistance you have given us. You won’t 

believe how many kids shall sleep on the twelve mattresses tonight; 48 of 

them shall sleep on them. The rice shall take us for two days, and the children 

here love rice.”

STUDENTS SERVED THROUGH ICC’S HOPE HOUSE AND GENERATION TRANSFORMATION 

An Incredible Journey 

A third grader attended church with 

his family one morning and left an 

orphan, alone in a land hostile to 

Christianity. Smith Sabir’s parents 

were among those killed in the All 

Saints Church terrorist attack in 

Pakistan in September 2013. His 

chance for survival and long-term 

success were bleak. No one was there 

to encourage him, discipline him, 

and support his dreams. Fortunately, 

donors stepped forward and ICC 

supported Sabir and other survivors 

while chronicling their inspirational 

stories over the past decade. 

In Egypt, schools are so bad that many Christian families 

pull their kids out at an early age. Children do menial 

work such as picking up garbage because that is a better 

alternative than public schools. 

In Nigeria, more than one million Christians are displaced 

because of violence in Benue State and living as incountry 

refugees. For the many children removed from 

schools, hope fades in the rubble. 

While ICC supplies immediate care to families, including 

food, shelter, medical expenses, and small business 

support, education is still the best long-term antidote 

for oppression. 

Hope for a Better Future 

ICC launched two successful education programs: Hope 

House and Generation Transformation. For security 

concerns, ICC does not divulge their specific locations. 

Hope House equips Christian children in Egypt to break 

out of this generational cycle of persecution. Through 

one-to-one sponsorships, kids receive better schooling, 

medical care, nutrition, and other benefits. We are 

working to expand and open Hope Houses in India and 

Nigeria—with your help! 

As students advance into their teens and college years, 

they transition to Generation Transformation where 

they receive vocational training, college scholarships, 

and grants to start small businesses.

Jump-Start at a 

Second Chance 

Youssef’s family has 

experienced grave 

hardship and persecution 

because of the ongoing 

war in the Middle East. 

His brother’s home 

was destroyed, and his 

niece was killed in a bus 

bombing. He lives near 

a mosque and faces 

harassment from radicals 

every day. Youssef 

decided to leave the area 

when they threatened to 

kidnap and kill his two 

young sons because they 

believed in Jesus. ICC 

provided him with the 

supplies to start a car 

shop at his new location.

A New Start in a 

Hostile Land 





Christians who are kicked out of their “inn”—their 

homes, families, or communities—by radicals must 

often start over elsewhere. Sometimes it is a wife who 

is kicked onto the street by her husband after she 

converts to Christianity. Other times it’s radical Fulani 

militants attacking entire Nigerian villages. ICC’s Nigeria 

Farms support thousands affected by these attacks by 

rebuilding their livelihoods. 

It is also dangerous for pastors and church planters to 

venture out in areas hostile to Christianity. So, it is 

important for them to ingratiate themselves 

in communities. ICC supports their efforts 

by setting them up with small businesses 

that serve as fronts for their important 

work—evangelism. The church planters 

can support their families while discipling 

new believers. Launching cover small 

businesses for survivors and church 

planters takes great resources. Thank you 

for coming alongside of them.

An Un- 

Neighborly Act 

Nancy has a smile that lights up the room. The 

13-year-old finds joy in the Lord and in life, despite 

immense tragedy. She lost both parents when a 

neighbor, a radical Muslim who had just returned 

from Somalia, blew himself up in their entryway. 

Nancy sustained serious injuries and lives in an 

orphanage-school. Through the Restore fund, we 

bought her necessities and continue to support her 

recovery. Nancy is representative of the work ICC 

does to restore people’s lives.

Christian Converts from 

Islam Face a Torrent of 

Threats 

If Muslim-background believers (MBBs) declare their allegiance to Jesus 

publicly, they face immediate violence and threats. The Muslim converts 

to Christianity stand to lose their families, communities, and very lives. 

ICC is caring for more than 100 MBBs in the Middle East (location 

withheld). Each new believer needs at least six months of base level 

care that includes several, or all, of the following: 

• A safe place to live 

• Medical care 

• Food 

• Job training 

• A small business to supply financial support in their new life 

We have moved and shepherded many MBBs in the Middle East and 

beyond, but many others desperately wait in hiding for their turn to 

embrace Jesus publicly. 

Thank you for partnering with us in rescuing these precious ones willing 

to risk everything for Jesus.

Rescue from 

Ruthless ADF 

Attacks 

Hundreds of displaced Christians 

in the Kisinga area in the DRC fled 

their homes following a spree of ADF 

terrorist attacks. A church in the area 

welcomed the persecuted refugees 

and ICC distributed food packages 

for them. 

The Islamic extremists bring misery 

and suffering for Christians wherever 

it goes. We will continue to bring 

joy and hope to these persecuted 

Christian refugees.

the Kandhamal District of India’s Odisha 

state. The violence left more than 120 

Christians dead, 8,000 Christian homes 

destroyed or looted, and 56,000 people 

displaced. Since then, ICC has supported 

a children’s home that serves orphans of 

the violence – recently covering tuition, 

fees, and books for students. 

Join us as we assist the school and 

persecuted Christian orphans with much 

needed school supplies. These are the 

types of projects supported through the 

Rescue: Wives and Kids fund.

From the 

Ashes 

John and three other men died when al- 

Shabaab members ambushed their village 

in Kenya. They were burned to death 

inside their home. John’s retail shop was 

torched and reduced to ashes. His wife 

was away with their children and returned 

to discover the ashes. ICC replaced John’s 

shop so the family could once again have a 

stable income. 

Help us rescue hundreds of persecuted 

Christians and their families in Africa and 

beyond so they can survive and thrive long 

term.

Bibles Make the 

Church Explode 

in Rural India 

Christians are not welcome in India by Prime Minister 

Narendra Modi or the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak 

Sangh), a Hindu Nationalist group. The RSS stops 

at nothing to ensure that India remains a Hindu 

nation, including persecuting Christians. 

To counter this, ICC trains and sends out church planters 

throughout the country. We give them bikes and Bibles to 

cover more ground and reach remote villages. More than 

100 evangelists were trained and sent in 2021-2022, and 

another 100 will be trained and sent by 2023. 

Join us as we continue to get God’s Word into the 

persecuted hands of those who desperately need it.

dangerous Islamic terrorists within the

ICC supplied one evangelist and field worker 

in Indonesia with funds to buy coffee beans 

from farmers. He then takes the coffee 

beans and sells them at his coffee shop. All 

along the way, he builds relationships and 

shares the gospel.
