Toddington Christmas Tree Festival<br />

10-11 December<br />

St George of England Church, Toddington<br />

The church will be filled with decorated trees, each with<br />

its own theme. There will be seasonal refreshments<br />

in Wilkinson Hall next to the church along with stalls<br />

and a tombola. The festival makes a great start to the<br />

Christmas celebrations so come along and get in the<br />

festive mood. On Friday 9 December, there will be a<br />

preview evening with wine and canapés. This will cost<br />

£10 per head. Tickets must be pre-booked and for<br />

This winter, bring the family together for a journey<br />

through the myth and magic of the ancient tree spirits,<br />

as they shine bright and illuminate the gardens at<br />

Stockwood Illuminated. Experience a journey through<br />

the age-old trees of Stockwood Discovery Centre.<br />

Centuries old, these giants have grown through the<br />

years, seen plenty, and have many stories to tell. This<br />

winter the centre will illuminate and shine a light on the<br />

gigantic scale of their beauty. Listen carefully and you<br />

may hear the whispers of their tales and the melody of<br />

their song, before enjoying the delights of a winter market<br />

and café. Running time: 60 mins, with slots available<br />

every 15 minutes.<br />

Christmas Gift Fair<br />

16-18 December<br />

Shuttleworth House, Old Warden Park, Old Warden,<br />

Biggleswade SG18 9EA<br />

Shuttleworth House hosts its first Christmas Gift Fair as<br />

they partner with an abundance of local independent<br />

businesses. Stalls will be positioned around all the<br />

grand rooms of Shuttleworth House for visitors to enjoy<br />

the stunning interiors as they shop from a variety of<br />

food, craft, and gift stalls. Entry is free of charge.<br />

Christmas Bird Walk<br />

The Christmas Town Market<br />

Town Centre, Bedford<br />

Over the weekend there will be local artists and makers<br />

selling artisan gifts and decorations accompanied by<br />

festive cheer provided by local bands and choirs. There<br />

will also be free train rides between Silver Street and<br />

Midland Road on the Love Bedford Express. Gumball’s<br />

amusements will once again be offering free rides<br />

for children and Santa’s Grotto will be in the Harpur<br />

Shopping Centre.<br />

Finches, ducks, winter thrushes and more… You will be<br />

on the lookout for robins, ducks and thrushes, but the<br />

eagle-eyed Volunteer Guides have been known to spot<br />

other wildlife along the way! Bring your own binoculars<br />

if you have them, but don’t worry if not as they have<br />

spares. No dogs are allowed on this walk, as you will<br />

be visiting the Wetlands Nature Reserve. Dress for the<br />

weather and make sure you wear sturdy footwear.<br />
