WORSHIP THIS WEEKEND
OUR CURRENT SERMON SERIES: COME HOME FOR CHRISTMAS : HOME TO HOPE
THIS WEEKEND’S SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 11:1-9
For the kingdom of Judah, things are really bleak. Assyria had all but destroyed
their country, and then came Babylonia and exile. But God is not finished with
his people. From what appears to be the dead stump of the Davidic dynasty will
come fresh growth. A new king that will change the entire world – hope is very
much alive, even when things seem dead. Advent comes every year to remind
us that king came first as a baby in a manger. Advent comes every year to call
us back to him as the source of hope for all of the places that seem to be dead
in our lives – new life is found in Jesus.
