You’ll study all aspects of how and<br />

where to participate in sport, look at<br />

can use your knowledge to best<br />

Three GCSEs at 4 or above.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

This course will prepare you for<br />

work in the health and fitness<br />

industry. You’ll study anatomy<br />

and physiology, how to maintain<br />

health, safety and welfare in a<br />

variety of fitness environments.<br />

In addition you'll explore how<br />

to communicate with and<br />

motivate clients, employment<br />

law, industry specific legislation,<br />

customer service, diet and lifestyle,<br />

how to plan group exercise<br />

sessions and how to instruct a<br />

variety of exercise sessions.<br />

We will also develop your English<br />

and maths skills and provide a<br />

work placement in industry.<br />

On completion you can<br />

progress onto one of our Level 3<br />

programmes or apply for fitness<br />

instructor roles in the industry.<br />

Personal Training for<br />

Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification<br />

and GCSE English grade 4.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

If you're already a qualified fitness<br />

instructor, this course will help you<br />

develop the skills, knowledge and<br />

competence required in order to<br />

work unsupervised as a personal<br />

trainer. This includes being able to<br />

offer one-to-one training, baseline<br />

assessment, nutritional advice and<br />

progressive programming.<br />

You'll study anatomy and<br />

physiology, sports conditioning, the<br />

principles of exercise and fitness<br />

and programming and nutrition.<br />

2 years<br />

Entry requirements<br />

English Language GCSE at 5 plus<br />

four more GCSEs at 4 including<br />

maths and science.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

This course gives you the<br />

knowledge and skills to be able<br />

to apply the principles of science<br />

to enhancing sport performance<br />

and develop the foundations for<br />

a career in sport. You’ll have the<br />

opportunity to study physiology,<br />

anatomy, biomechanics,<br />

psychology, fitness testing, nutrition,<br />

massage, technology in sport,<br />

coaching for performance, fitness<br />

training, research project and sport<br />

injuries. You’ll also complete a work<br />

placement.<br />

On completion you could go on to<br />

further study at university or into<br />

employment within the health and<br />

fitness industry.<br />

Five GCSEs grade 4 or above<br />

including English.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

If you have a passion for sport and<br />

want to build a career around the<br />

wide range of sport-based roles<br />

on offer in sports performance,<br />

participation health and fitness, this<br />

course is for you.<br />

This programme will prepare<br />

you for the next steps in your<br />

career whether this is a job, an<br />

apprenticeship or a university<br />

programme in sport.<br />

You’ll study a range of topics<br />

including health and wellbeing,<br />

sports development, anantomy and<br />

physiology in sport, sporting injuries,<br />

sports massage and fitness training.<br />

In the second year, you’ll undertake<br />

a sport related research project.<br />

You’ll also take part in work<br />

experience with one of our industry<br />

partners, helping you discover the<br />

type of role you are suited to.<br />

You'll study the same units as the<br />

Level 3 Diploma plus practical sports<br />

performance, development of sport<br />

and physical activity, coaching for<br />

performance, research methods in<br />

sport and four optional units.<br />

Academy<br />

Level 3<br />

An exclusive partnership with<br />

Duration<br />

1 year<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Entry onto this programme<br />

will be via an invite and trial to<br />

assess whether your footballing<br />

capabilities are at the required level.<br />

You'll also need GCSE grades at 4 or<br />

above including English and maths.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

We've teamed up with Gateshead<br />

Football Club to offer a fantastic<br />

student athlete football<br />

development programme,<br />

which combines education<br />

with football excellence.<br />

This course if for third year students<br />

who are competing at U19 level<br />

and allows you to play and train at<br />

the full time professional club while<br />

continuing with your academic<br />

studies. You will train full time with<br />

Gateshead FC staff and represent<br />

the club in the U19 Northern<br />

Alliance League (Premier League).<br />

You'll study a Level 3 qualification<br />

including careers in sport, health<br />

and wellbeing and professional<br />
