Warrington & Vale Royal College hosts its annual
celebration of higher education students’ success
Warrington & Vale Royal College
was delighted to recently
host its Higher Education
Graduation Ceremony - a
charming celebration of student
success set in truly remarkable
surroundings. Students and
their guests gathered in St
Elphin’s Church, a location as
beautiful as it is historic.
As students arrived at the church,
they were transformed into
gleaming graduands ready to
walk the stage and claim their
achievements. The ceremony was
attended by a host of VIPs and
friends of the college, including
the Mayor of Warrington, Cllr
Jean Flaherty, and special guest
speaker Claire Lomas MBE.
The college was also honoured
to appoint its newest Fellow,
Steve Park, Director of Growth at
Warrington Local Authority.
All in attendance were deeply
moved and inspired by the
wonderful speech delivered by
Claire Lomas MBE who spoke
about the tragic accident that
left her paralysed and how she
overcame this. Claire talked about
how her previous life as an active
sportswoman completely changed
overnight and how she dug deep
to find the strength to restart
and rebuild. Claire’s speech was
captivating and thought-provoking;
a true inspiration to everyone there.
The college was once again
pleased to present a number of
esteemed students with special
awards. These select awards
recognise the hard work and
