A Contract of Colour, Function and
Sustainability
Blind specification within the contract
market continues to push the boundaries of
window shading. As ecological and financial
realisation continues to grow of the impact
that the optimum shade can have on the
contract environment, specifiers are refining
their needs for innovative window covering
solutions that balance specification, quality
and energy efficiency.
Decora has extended their selection of
wider width fabric contract fabric offering to
consist of 5 ranges. In addition to the 26
Unicolour and Unishade fabrics, Unilux, the
top selling contract PVC fabric has
extended its offering to 2.5m and 3m wide
fabrics. Available in 7 colours the wider
width options increases production
efficiencies and creates enhanced aesthetics
within a contract environment, reducing the
need for fabric joins. This popular 4 layered
PVC fabric (3 ply PVC, 1 ply fibreglass) is
perfect for contract environments, in
particular schools, nurseries or within the
health sector due to its easicare properties.
Arona, a FR fabric produced from 80%
recycled PET plastic has been introduced
offering 18 colours in 2.5m roll widths and
89mm vertical fabric. Sustainable fabrics
have been a growing trend in the fashion
industry for some time but demanded
within the contract sector is seeing an
noticeable increase. The ethos behind Arona
was to preserve our environment by
utilising recycled PET plastic bottles from
ocean pollution and reuse as secondary raw
materials. The eco-balance of such a process
is convincing: energy and above all water
consumption are much lower than
conventional fabric production, a
contribution to reduce our ecological
footprint.
Unicolour dimout and Unishade blockout
continue to prove popular fabrics in the
contract arena. Their versatility of being
available across 3 roller widths 2m, 2.5m
and 3m and 2 vertical widths 89mm and
127mm presents optimum production
efficiencies as well as the ability to produce
wide width roller blinds without the need
for a join.
With Unicolour and Unishade
contractors can avail of the dimout and
blockout properties in the same
complimenting colours enabling perfect light
control management where necessary.
Decora’s Uniview Collection is one of the
most comprehensive screen offerings in the
market. Openness ranges from a range of
3% openness through to 1% and blockout
with Univew Zero.
Both 1% and 3% options offer a selfcoloured
or white backed range enabling
contractors to vary internal blind colour
whilst maintain a uniform aesthetic to the
exterior. Each Uniview range is available in a
selection of roll widths, ranging from 1.83m
to 3m wide, with the addition of Uniview
3200 super fine presenting 89mm vertical
fabric option.
The colour palette for all contract fabrics
ranges has been meticulously selected to
ensure every tone is in line with the latest
market trends for the contract sector,
whether this be bold primary colours for a
school or cool grey for a modern office
environment.
