Summer seems to have arrived 

and I imagine it’s peak season 

for companies that are involved 

in the awnings and solar 

shading markets. 

There seems to a lot of 

choices out there and it will be 

interesting to see how the 

home improvement market 

copes with the increasing of 

interest rates over the last few 

months. 

Lots of fixed mortgage rates 

are coming to an end, from 

historically low levels, so it way 

create another shock to 

consumers. So fingers crossed 

that it’s not as bad as some 

economists would have us 

believe and hopefully the rest 

of the summer will be long and 

hot!

MX-4 from markilux receives 

Red Dot Design Award 

The “MX-4” is the latest designer model from markilux. 

Not long on the market, the attractive cassette awning is 

already the proud winner of the “Red Dot Design Award” 

2023. The award is one of the major international design 

competitions. The awning specialist has received this 

award, along with many other prizes, in the “Product 

Design” category a number of times. 

Products from markilux can be described 

as attractive, intelligent and smart. In recent 

years, the awning expert has been able to 

score points time and again, especially with 

its stylish MX family. Not just with end users, 

but also with a range of design award juries. 

This time it was the turn of the latest model, 

the cassette awning “MX-4”, to impress the 

high-calibre jury of the “Red Dot Design 

Award” in the category “Product Design”, 

earning it the coveted award. 

“We were absolutely delighted to receive 

this award, as the award, based in Essen, 

Germany, is one of the world’s largest and 

most famous competitions. It has a decadeslong 

tradition and only awards prizes for the 

very best designs,” says Michael Gerling, 

Director of R&D and Production. The 

company has already received the award 

several times for a number of its awnings. 

Every time they receive the award it is a 

great success for the entire development 

team and confirms the company’s creative 

concept. “Particularly when you think that 

around 20,000 design concepts are 

submitted to the competition every year,” 

says Mr Gerling. In 2023 alone, designers and 

companies from 60 countries took part in 

51 categories in the “Product Design” 

discipline. 

“Naturally we wanted to be at the front 

of the field with the 'MX-4',” says Mr Gerling. 

After all, they felt that the overall package of 

simple, elegant form, separate LED lights in 

the design of the awning and smart lighting 

technology with great colour effects had a 

winning quality – something which has been 

confirmed with the award. The product 

impressed the international jury of experts 

in the crucial criteria: functionality, 

attractiveness, practical value and 

responsibility towards people and the 

environment. Michael Gerling is convinced 

that good design is an essential expression of 

the brand’s value and intends to pursue this 

successful course. Now, they are looking 

forward to the award ceremony during 

“Designers Night” on 19 June. That is when 

Michael Gerling and Sven Kröner, Head of 

the Department of Development and 

Construction, will be receiving the award in 

the “Red Dot Design Museum”.

Continued partnership 

Bradford City AFC is pleased to confirm BlindsbyPost will 

continue as an official club partner, ahead of the 2023/24 

campaign. The continuation of the sponsorship has been

UPcycling is a 

major focus for 

Junkers & Müllers

recycled polyester as a fundamental material in

How long?

says there are long 

lead times on PFI 

products 

Everyone within the window blinds industry is 

aware of the seasonal nature of our industry, 

particularly for those of us who sell a lot of 

highly seasonal products, like awnings and 

conservatory roof blinds for example. As soon as 

the sun starts shining for a few days, everyone 

wants an awning or roof blinds, and they want 

them…. 

Yesterday! 

This makes things very difficult for the few small 

manufacturers of these products that exist in the 

UK. From the feedback I have received from fellow 

manufacturers it is pretty common to see lead 

times of up to 12 weeks or more for these 

products during busy periods. 

So, first, let’s define lead time. In general, the lead 

time definition is the amount of time from the start 

of a process till its end. Lead time meaning varies 

according to industry and context. What does lead 

time mean in manufacturing? In this case, lead time 

is how long it takes to make and deliver a product 

or set of products, to the customer. It includes 

sourcing, production, and delivery. 

Perfect Fit International Roof blinds are very 

time consuming to manufacture. A typical standard 

roller blind can be made from start to finish in 15 

mins or less, a single rectangular PFI Roof Blind can 

take 1-2 hours to manufacture depending on its 

configuration. This means a job of 10 rectangular 

PFI roof blinds can take 1 - 2.5 days to 

manufacture. But …. Until the blinds are made, 

there is no telling if they will take 1 or 2.5 days. 10 

jobs with 10 rectangles could take 10-25 days to 

manufacture. 

When we get shapes involved, things get more 

complicated, for example your typical Edwardian 

Conservatory will have 12-14 panels. Shaped PFI 

roof blinds consist of 7- 8 lengths of rail, each one 

a different size, so the saw has to be adjusted with 

every cut. Each corner has a 6mm aluminium

corner brace which is hand bent on a jig 

and checked with a digital angle finder to be 

the exact angle of the roof they are made 

for. The fabric is hand cut, twice, first cut to 

relieve the fabric tension second for final 

cut. An Edwardian roof can take 3-6 days to 

manufacture, again, depending on 

configuration. So, 10 jobs of Edwardian 

style roof orders could be 30-60 days lead 

time or anywhere in-between. 

Looking easy so far? 

The problem arises when the orders are 

not just 10 jobs of rectangles or 10 

Edwardian roofs, but a mixture of Lean-to, 

Edwardian, Victorian roofs, P-shaped roofs, 

all with different numbers of panels, all with 

different configurations and nuances, they 

are, after all, highly bespoke items. So, what 

do I mean by 

configuration? What could be so different 

as to extend the lead times by that amount? 

At Don Smith Blinds we developed a layflat 

system for all of our shaped roof blinds, 

this stops the fabric fanning, it also prevents 

the fabric from catching the filos whilst 

operating thus extending the life of the 

fabric, filos and the blind generally. This layflat 

system adds 30 mins per blind in extra 

manufacturing time. We mill out for tie bars, 

this involves fully assembling the frame, 

marking it, dismantling it, milling the cut out 

on a milling machine and reassembling. We 

also offer 3 different top finishes as well as 

infills. 

All these things add up, and are 

impossible to estimate how long they will all 

take, not with any realistic or accurate 

timeframe. This issue is compounded by the 

fact that demand for the product is 

primarily driven by the sun!! When the sun 

shines everyone wants to order them, when 

it doesn’t very few do. This makes it 

incredibly difficult to plan or predict when it 

comes to staffing, particularly when it takes 

months to teach someone the basics of 

manufacturing these products, and years to 

become competent at manufacturing them 

well, making temporary staff more of a 

hinderance than a help. 

So, I ask you this. Why are customers 

happy to wait 20 weeks for a sofa? Sofas 

can be mass produced and the templates 

for the fabric are standard. Yes, the fabric 

you chose may be different to the fabric I 

chose, but the frame is the same size, and 

the fabrics take the same amount of time to 

cut and upholster. Why are customers 

happy to wait for a car for 9-15 months 

even though they are produced by robots 

and all the parts are the same? Simply put, 

because of how it was sold. The sofa, you 

chose a custom fabric, the car, you chose 

some custom options it is bespoke, 

customised to your specification. How we 

sell roof blinds…… yeah, they will keep the 

sun off mate! 

How we should sell our roof blinds…. 

We will be providing you with a professional 

survey and installation of bespoke roof 

blinds. These roof blinds are hand made in 

the UK by a few small manufactures, I’m 

sure you can appreciate that during the 

summer, particularly if it’s a hot one, that the 

lead times can be very long, as this is the 

time when everyone orders these types of 

blinds. But don’t worry, if you miss this 

summer, you will find that they are just as 

efficient in the winter at keeping the warm 

air in your conservatory and the cold 

convection currents out.

Ihave worked within the shutter industry for 

nearly 5 years and have been the new Business 

Account Manager with C&C Trade Shutters 

since the beginning of the year. Personally, I love the 

variety of people I meet in this trade role, and I’ve 

seen some truly incredible builds and renovations 

already. 

Previously, my career was in retail, offering 

consultation to emerging designers and businesses, 

and worked as a Visual Merchandiser. The skills I

A typical week for me is split between the office 

and getting out and about on the road. I deal with 

all new trade account enquiries and help them to 

get up and running. Typical onboarding includes a 

site visit, bespoke training options and of course, a 

run through of the shutter options and pricing. I’m 

reaching out to prospective clients and checking in 

on our long-standing ones, offering extra support 

when and however required. 

I really enjoy building relationships with our 

trade companies and seeing their businesses grow

In 1998, Hamburg entrepreneur Götz A. Lewens 

founded LSS Lewens Sonnenschutz-Systeme 

GmbH & Co. KG in Ludwigslust. Working with a 

small team, Lewens built the company’s success on 

the back of his extensive industry experience and a 

keen instinct for what customers wanted. The 

Lewens modular back bar awning system, Family, 

with its high quality standard captured the spirit of 

the times and is still part of the product range 

today. Over the years, the product portfolio 

expanded and in 2004 the Toscana model, one of 

the first full cassette awnings produced by Lewens, 

received the Aluminium Design Award. Following 

on from this, the company developed and 

produced façade and glass roof awnings, pergolas 

and, since 2012, glass roof systems also. These have 

likewise been recognised with a number of 

accolades for design and technology. “The market 

has changed; it has become much more diverse 

and demanding,” says Philip Lewens, managing 

director and son of the founder. “What was once a 

purpose-built product, namely a crank-operated 

awning to provide shade from the sun during the 

warmer months of the year, is now frequently 

called upon to facilitate outdoor living at home all 

year round – for instance, with a glass roof and 

automated blinds, often also solar-operated and 

integrated into the home automation system.”

Positano pergola 

The new weatherproof pergola Positano, 

which comes onto the market this year, has 

also been designed with the latest trends and 

customer wishes in mind. The pergola awning 

received recognition back at the prototype 

stage in 2022 with the European Product 

Design Award (EPDA) for best product 

design. Available in sizes of up to six metres 

wide and five metres in depth, and with a 

waterproof cover, this awning affords variable 

weather protection for generously 

dimensioned patio areas. The maximum width 

is achieved here without the use of 

intermediate rafters. Two fabric grades of 

different texture with a waterproof coating 

are offered for the awning, while highprecision 

toothed belt technology is used to 

ensure smooth extension and retraction and 

for tensioning the fabric panels. As with the 

manufacturer’s Murano glass roofs, the roof 

pitch is infinitely adjustable. Rainwater is 

drained via the side rafters and rain gutter 

invisibly down the inside of the supports. The 

Positano is equipped as standard with a 

motor drive; radio remote control and the 

possibility of integration into the home 

automation system are optional features, 

while LED strips can also be integrated into 

the transoms. 

Proven components and construction 

technology from Lewens glass roofs in the 

Murano series were used in the 

development of the pergola awning. As a 

result, the Positano awning can be 

combined with additional products from 

this model range, such as Glissando sliding 

glass elements and Finestra fixed glazing. 

Furthermore, the vertical awnings of the 

Micro series form the perfect complement 

to it. 

New developments 

Another new development is a support 

frame that enables awnings, pergolas and 

glass roofs to be erected free-standing on 

both sides without a wall. The maximum 

width of the unit is up to 7 metres, 

depending on wind pressure and snow 

loads. 

The Murano Modulare glass roof, which 

features special configurations such as 

chimney openings and sections extending 

around corners of 90 to 135 degrees, is still in 

the development phase. The maximum depth 

of the glass roof in this case is 5 metres.

solar shading 

The earth’s climate is rapidly changing, with 

temperatures rising by an average of 0.08°C 

per decade since 1880. According to data 

collected by the National Oceanic and 

Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), 2022 was 

the sixth warmest year on record, with climate 

experts predicting that 2023 will be even hotter. 

According to the World Economic Forum, when 

heatwaves occur “without any shades or ventilation, 

you’ll quickly be in danger zone” – further proving 

that now is the time to take action through 

legislative measures to make buildings more climate 

resilient in preventing overheating. 

The solution: External 

shading 

As the sun is not static, a dynamic solution is 

required to adapt to the changing ambient 

conditions, preventing unwanted solar heat gain 

during the summer months and allowing free solar 

gain when required in the winter. 

New research shows that passive cooling 

techniques such as shading and natural ventilation 

can not only prevent homes and workplaces from 

overheating but also reduce the load on air 

conditioning – a proven contributor to CO2 

emissions and greenhouse gases – by as much as 

80%, delivering a number of economic and 

environmental benefits including reduced energy 

costs and safe, sustainable buildings that are 

comfortable and healthy for their occupants. 

Awnings 

Not a new concept to the UK, awnings were 

used on elaborate glass shop frontages in the 

1800’s before air conditioning was invented as a 

way to passively cool the interior of buildings whilst 

also protecting goods from the damaging effects of 

the sun. Today, awnings are growing in popularity 

because not only do they offer additional privacy – 

particularly in built-up areas – but they serve two 

main functions essential for a healthy living 

environment. 

Firstly, they provide instant shade from sunlight; 

both heat and glare (bright light), outstanding UV 

protection (typically 95% minimum UV block) and 

shelter from unexpected rain showers. Secondly, 

awnings provide a much-needed cooling effect to 

the indoor room adjacent to where they are 

positioned, both during the summer and winter 

months. As a result, they ensure a comfortable 

indoor living space, eliminating any bright light to 

prevent glare, all whilst filtering damaging UV rays 

to stop fixtures and furnishings from fading.

External blinds 

Automatic outdoor blinds ensure a 

thermally and visually comfortable indoor 

environment with minimum energy 

demand on any installed heating and 

cooling systems, reducing energy costs and 

CO2 emissions as a result. 

Unique perforated solar controlled 

fabrics can provide an evenly distributed 

natural light source whilst maintaining the 

view and connection to the outside. This 

quick solution can help override high levels 

of insulation and glazing, minimising any 

unwanted solar heat gain by averting the 

sun’s rays from reaching the glass and 

keeping buildings cool. 

Glazing vs shading 

Large expanses of glazing such as 

rooflights, panoramic windows and 

sliding/folding doors help blur the 

boundaries between inside and out by 

flooding a room with natural light and 

creating a feeling of endless space and 

openness – all whilst emitting free solar 

gain to passively warm a building in the 

colder months. 

However, despite these benefits, the 

combination of extensive glazing and high 

levels of insulation coupled with a warming 

climate is resulting in buildings severely 

overheating. Although this is primarily the 

case in the summer months, it also happens 

during the winter too, with indoor 

temperatures rising to uncomfortable and 

unsafe levels that put occupant health at 

risk. 

Adjustable solar shading in the form of 

awnings, external blinds and even 

bioclimatic pergolas have an important part 

to play in saving energy and helping our 

climate journey. Not only do they allow us 

to control the amount of sunlight in our 

inside spaces but also help to prevent glare. 

Additionally, smart solar shading can help 

intelligently manage heat and light for the 

highest levels of energy efficiency, improving 

comfort and ultimately cooling our planet. 

To conclude, whilst the solution to 

combat the issue of overheating buildings 

already exists to an extent, solar shading 

products need to be designed and 

incorporated from the outset. We need to 

begin to opt for alternatives to solar 

control glass (that doesn’t prevent solar 

heat gain) or air conditioning that is “energy 

hungry”. 

Every measure needs to be taken to 

address the importance of external shading 

during the design stage of any building in 

order to ensure its energy efficiency is at its 

highest and to prevent the growing number 

of eco and ultra-modern glass properties 

from turning into unhabitable 

‘greenhouses’.

Its shape is filigree with pleasant curves. Its 

technology sophisticated. With ten new colour 

combinations for the top cassette profile and 

the frame, markilux now wants to emphasise the 

modern design of its "MX-2“ even more in the 

"colour" version. 

As with a painting, which is given the finishing 

touch with a finely executed brushstroke, markilux 

knows how to emphasise the design of its awnings 

by making use of a specific effect. And that is also 

the case with the relatively new cassette awning 

"MX-2“. Because, from this year, it is now also 

available as the "MX-2 colour" in ten new colour 

combinations. 

Top cassette profile in a 

different colour 

The top cassette profile has a different colour 

from the awning frame. The combinations are made 

up of the seven standard awning colours and three 

additional special colours. In line with this, the 

manufacturer recommends two fabrics each per 

colour combination from the new "collection one". 

However, end consumers are also completely at 

liberty to choose their own fabric pattern and 

colour. “The top cassette profile in a different colour 

emphasises the rounded shape of the sides. It is a 

very subtle effect that catches the eye,” explains 

Michael Gerling, Director of R&D and Production, 

going on to say that they wanted to focus especially 

on the design. In addition, the various options were 

intended to make it easier for the end consumer to 

make a coherent colour choice. 

Design as a style element in 

its own right 

“We already had the idea for a two-colour 

awning body during the development phase. 

However, you can’t always realise everything 

straight away. Some things need a little more time 

to mature until they work the way we would like 

them to,” says Mr Gerling. This is often the case, 

especially with elaborate colour coatings. “As the 

technology we employed is very reliable and has 

already proven itself over a number of years in a 

different model, we were able to concentrate on 

the design when it came to the 'MX-2'. That’s why 

we continued to work on the colour details of the 

design components after the market launch,” the 

Director of R&D and Production adds. Because, 

with its clear, slightly rounded shape, the model is 

intended to be both an integral part of the 

architecture and a stylistic element in its own right. 

Everything about the awning expresses quality and 

is geared towards a lifestyle with high aesthetic 

standards. “We also want to meet this demand 

with the new colour concept in our product 

portfolio. Moreover, end consumers should have 

the option of giving their awning as individual a 

look as possible,” Michael Gerling sums up.

Appearance with vibrant 

contrasts 

“With this product, we once again wanted to 

combine shape and colour in an exciting way. The 

starting point for this is a conically shaped cassette 

that stands out conspicuously on the façade. We 

have emphasised this further with an allround 

styling panel,” says Mr Gerling. It closes the housing 

effectively at the front and continues round into 

the end caps. The styling panel and cassette can be 

combined in all seven of the manufacturer’s 

standard colours and also with individual nonstandard 

colours for the cassette. This creates a 

vibrant contrast and underlines the shape that is 

somewhere between round and angular. But as if 

that wasn’t enough, the subject of colour in the 

“MX-4” is played with using another creative 

instrument – the design of its lighting. 

Large selection of LED 

lighting options 

The first thing you notice in this respect is the 

wide range of LED lighting that is available for this 

model. The dimmable LED Line is a well-known 

product from the company. It is recessed in a 

multi-functional groove on the underside of the 

cassette. From May, there will be a further option 

available making it possible to mount up to six 

swivelling and rotating, newly developed spots on 

the inside of the front profile depending on the 

awning size. 

Coloured lighting scenario 

Michael Gerling explains that the special lighting 

technology is a genuine highlight. It can be used to 

change the colour of the LED elements to suit the

got to do with it? 

S:CRAFT says there 

are alternatives in 

the shutter market 

If you could have wood for the price of MDF, 

wouldn’t you? There are two answers to this 

question, and both of them are effectively “no” 

Firstly, nothing in our range is purely MDF. 

Antigua is more than an MDF, it is a composite 

product, and in all S:CRAFT materials, it is 

referred to as “Engineered Wood” – and this is 

not a fudge. Parts of Antigua are indeed made 

from the very best quality, most environmentally 

friendly MDF. 

It is among the most eco-friendly materials 

available, wood composite production involves 

very little waste, with up to 95% of every tree 

utilised. Made from the wood of rapid-growth

23 February 2024 in the Alfred Kärcher 

Halle (Hall 8) and the Paul Horn Halle (Hall 10). 

Numerous well-known companies will impress 

visitors to the world's leading trade fair for roller 

shutters, doors/gates and sun shading systems 

with their innovative products and services, with 

which the high requirements of the market can be 

met. There is a demand for sustainable solutions 

for the resource-friendly use of energy, in 

particular. 

"Our member companies can hardly wait to 

showcase their innovations at the upcoming R+T 

2024", reports Kai-Uwe Grögor, President of BVT 

– Verband Tore (National Federation of Door and 

Gate Manufacturers). "Due to the current 

situation in relation to climate change and the 

higher energy prices, the topic of energy saving 

also plays a decisive role for the door and gate

ultimately more and more on the costs of 

the day-to-day operation. 

"We compiled the calculation using the 

example of our GA203 door drive", reports 

Frank Kiefer, managing director of Berner 

Torantriebe. The sample calculation 

determined that a traditional door drive 

with transformer and power consumption of 

roughly 6 watts generated annual operating 

costs of at least 20 euros." The GA203 

energy-optimised system from the 

Rottenburg-based company gets by with less 

than two euros per year with the same 

number of movement cycles. 

The other door drives of the 

manufacturer are also now completely 

designed for economical energy 

consumption. "Swing and sliding door drives 

in our DA and C series work with powersaving 

switching power supplies, which 

consume less than 0.5 watts in standby 

mode. If light is required for the operation of 

the door or gate, we only use efficient LED 

technology", adds Frank Kiefer. The power 

requirement of a door or gate also greatly 

depends on the ease of operation. The 

materials used - like aluminium and PA6 

plastic for the rollers of the entrance gates 

of Berner - guarantee optimal functioning, 

durability and thus also sustainability. 

International know-how 

The ACMI (Assocostruttori Chiusure 

Meccanismi Italia) will also be at R+T 2024 

in Stuttgart. Nicola Fornarelli, President of 

the ACMI: "Thanks to the Italian commercial 

agency ITA, our association was able to start 

an export promotion project for small and 

medium-sized companies." The ACMI joint 

pavilion was at the world's leading trade fair 

for roller shutters, doors/gates and sun 

shading systems for the first time in 2015 

with eight companies on 100 square metres. 

In 2024 twenty of the member companies 

will welcome visitors on approximately 1100 

square metres. "Our partnership with 

Landesmesse Stuttgart is extremely relevant 

for us from a strategic perspective. For our 

member companies R+T is definitely the 

most important trade fair in our industry", 

adds Nicola Fornarelli. "All exhibitors of the 

ACMI pavilion are really looking forward to 

presenting their latest products in the area 

of doors and gates live to the expert public."

at the history of 

windows 

Windows - no not the screen-based one 

but the ones we look at and through 

every day, bringing light and fresh air in, 

keeping out the cold, wet and any draughts they are 

clearly a huge invention and heritage for us all. 

In medieval times here oiled parchment was used 

so that some dim light could be allowed into a 

home during the day or wooden shutters which 

could close off an open hole window during the 

night. The word window comes from the old Norse 

word Vindanga with Vin meaning wind and danga 

meaning eye The Romans were the first to have 

glass in them about 2000 years ago and all were 

fixed until the 15th century when the wealthy could 

have casement frames in iron or wood so that they 

could open them, at first only the bottom section 

and later sash window frames were invented for the 

Georgian and Victorian eras. The larger the windows 

and therefore the wealthier the occupants were, so 

during the 1700-1850 the infamous window tax was 

introduced or as it was put then 'laying a duty on 

windows or lights' This meant a large number of 

these windows being blocked up or in-filled with 

matching brickwork, many of which can still be seen 

today on the upper stories of older properties, but 

that was not all as the Government put an 

additional tax or duty on the glass itself, which was 

applied for around 100 years! from the mid 18th 

Century further making windows an expensive 

luxury. The effect of these unpopular decrees meant 

that some rooms and people were denied precious 

light and inlets of fresh air which was neither healthy 

or desirable. This is where the term 'daylight 

robbery' comes from although it does not appear in 

print until much later for someone being robbed in 

broad daylight rather than under cover of darkness. 

Other window types that were invented included 

casements that were hinged from the sides and 

opening outwards and seen on early half timbered 

properties, although in Europe many of these open 

inwards so can cause problems to fit blinds to. Look 

out too for the weavers windows in the upper sties 

of terraced houses distinctively wide to allow 

maximum light for the craftspeople. The 50mm 

wood slat venetian blinds were first invented in 

Persia and then the idea was taken up by the 

merchants in Venice. Here in the England in 1769 a 

gentleman by the name of Edward Bevan patented 

their design and how much have these changed over 

the years. 

The choices we have for window furnishing today 

is huge and have become a design focus to every 

room in our homes and business premises. The

come up with an effective option that solves all the 

needs of the customer and these can be many. From 

heat reduction and retention, light diffusion and 

complete darkening, the knowledge that we now 

have to retain to give confidence to the consumer

Senses and Mirage

options 

New additions to the Senses Roller and 

Mirage blinds, are the Crank and 

Coupling systems. The Senses Crank 

system is a child safe design with a removable or 

fixed option for the crank rod. The fixed option 

allows the crank rod to remain in place, while the 

removable option allows the same rod to be used 

to operate several blinds which is ideal in a contract 

environment. The metal crank handle comes with a 

folding design and up to 4m in length. 

The multi-directional drive joint allows for 15 

degrees of install tolerance in any direction 

between drive & tube. The blind remains secured in 

place once installed with the locking pin end. 

Its sturdy metal design is built for smooth and 

easy operation, even at max weight capacity of 

8.5kg. 

The Senses Coupling system brings the ability to 

drive two or more blinds together, at the same rate, 

using a single control method. It can be used with 

Chain-Op, Powershade Motors or Crank drive 

controls. 

The aligner has 45 adjustment teeth providing 

complete control over the level each blinds bottom 

bar sits. The 30mm fabric to gap distance between 

coupled blinds is smaller than using back to back 

brackets giving a better finish for the customer. 

Again, the multi-directional drive joint allows for 

15 degrees of install tolerance in any direction 

between aligner and tube. 

Coupled blinds of the same drop will operate at 

the same rate and you can couple as many blinds as 

necessary, up to the weight capacity of the selected 

control method. 

Both the Crank and Coupling systems work 

within the Fascia, Mounting Profile or a Standard Fit 

giving maximum flexibility. They are both compatible 

with 40 and 48mm tubes.
