Garage<br />
Treasures<br />
What might be junk to one individual<br />
may well be a treasure to another.<br />
That was the thinking of Beth Bowman,<br />
a former staff member at First Baptist<br />
Church Brandon, when she came up<br />
with the idea of a church-wide garage<br />
sale and was instrumental in getting it<br />
scheduled into the events of the church.<br />
This year’s organizers are Kay Baden,<br />
Kenny Carter, Davis Watts, Anita<br />
Fortenberry and Leslie Williamson.<br />
There’s a three-fold<br />
purpose for the sale...<br />
1. Those working the sale earn hourly<br />
wages which help pay for mission<br />
trips they would like to join.<br />
2. The community benefits by having<br />
access to inexpensive, quality items<br />
for sale. Families that have had their<br />
homes destroyed by fire or natural<br />
disasters can furnish their dwellings<br />
with affordable furnishings.<br />
3. With three services each Sunday,<br />
regular church members rarely meet<br />
with the entire congregation. The sale<br />
remedies that, with over 200 people<br />
involved in the sale each year.<br />
The fellowship is wonderful!<br />
