Wanderers secured a place in the Papa Johns Trophy
final and a trip to Wembley with victory against
Accrington Stanley at the Wham Stadium.
Backed by over half of the attendance on the night, Ian
Evatt’s men secured a return to the national stadium
after a 12-year absence, but they were made to work
hard for the result.
Stanley were reduced to ten-men when Sean
McConville was given his marching orders for a
rash challenge on Conor Bradley and even though
Wanderers were left frustrated by a combination of the
woodwork and Lukas Jensen, Elias Kachunga found the
breakthrough late on.
Two minutes later, Morley fired in an excellent strike
from 25 yards out that found the net via the inside
of the post to ensure a passage through to the final
against Plymouth Argyle in April.
