TAP
HOUSE
CHESTERFIELD is well known for attracting real ale fans
from near and far.
One gem of a place some may have missed is The
Tap House, a free house on Chatsworth Road, and a
key part of the famous Brampton Mile.
The Tap House has long been a public house and has
had a number of different identities over the years.
It remained closed for a while following the Covid
pandemic, but was given a fresh look and new lease of
life by landlady Kerry Glover who took over at the
beginning of 2022.
The pub offers a friendly welcome and an extensive
choice for drinkers with eight real cask ales and four
cask ciders.
Local breweries are regularly represented such as
Thornbridge, Peak, Welbeck and Eyam and customers
can not only see the make up of each beer via display
jars, but can sample before they buy.
The Tap House is also one of few local venues which
always has the old favourite Bass on tap.
For those who want a bite to eat with their drink, there
are bar snacks including locally-sourced pork pies.
The pub is a new venture for Kerry and she explains
that it already seems to have found its niche.
“People are still discovering that the pub has reopened
and are quite surprised and happy to find us here.
“We’re getting people coming in not only from the
local area but further afield like Lincolnshire and
Nottinghamshire.
“Everyone seems to like the choice we have at the bar
and the comfortable, quieter atmosphere where you
can have a chat.
“We’re also family and dog-friendly.”
A crackling open fire adds to the venue’s cosiness on
chillier days.
The Tap House is open Monday to Thursday, from
4pm, Friday, from 2pm, and Saturday and Sunday,
from noon.
