The Queen’s Fund
Alongside named
scholarships and bursaries, gifts
to the Student Support area of the Queen’s
Fund enhance the student at experience
Queen’s in numerous ways. Thanks to a
research travel grant, student Charlotte
Forrest (History, 2019) undertook an
archive project in Dublin that proved
invaluable for her undergraduate thesis,
which earned first class marks.
Cyril Vysove
Scholarship in
Modern Languages
The Cyril Vysove Scholarship in
Modern Languages was endowed in 2021,
thanks to a legacy gift in memory of Cyril
Vysove (Modern Languages, 1941) whose
life – and study at Queen’s – was cut short
by WWII (see p. 14).
“This generous scholarship has
enabled me to pursue my interest
in medieval French literature and
enriched my studies through the
countless opportunities on offer
at Oxford. Already during my first
year, I have enjoyed exploring
the Bodleian Libraries’ amazing
manuscript collections, attending
Latin palaeography classes,
and presenting my research at
international conferences.”
“My visit to the archives was of
endless value to me academically
and really ignited my love for
historical research. I was able to
access sources that turned out
to be hugely beneficial, such as a
pamphlet that I had never heard
of before, but was directly related
to my topic of research.
Without the funding I received
from Queen’s, this trip simply
would not have been possible.”
