Leicester striker Mark
Robins has masterminded
two promotions and reestablished
the Sky Blues as
a Championship club since
returning for a second stint in
the dugout six years ago.
Robins, who hung up his boots
in 2005 to become assistant
manager at Rotherham,
another of his previous clubs,
succeeded Alan Knill in the top
job two years later and moulded
the Millers into League One
promotion challengers.
Barnsley appointed him as
manager early in the 2009/10
campaign but, having lifted
the Tykes away from the
Championship danger zone,
he quit and spent more than a
year out of management.
Robins’ first spell as Coventry
boss, during the 2012/13
season, lasted just five months
before he joined Huddersfield
and repeated his achievement
with Barnsley by securing the
Terriers’ second–tier status.
An unsuccessful 15-month
spell with Scunthorpe
followed before the Sky Blues
reappointed Robins in 2017 and
he guided them to EFL Trophy
success, followed by victory in
the League Two play-off final a
year later and promotion back
to the Championship in 2020.
