Our final home fixture of the season is upon us<br />
and what an occasion we have for it. We’re back<br />
at Ashton Gate, which is always special and<br />
given the incredible number of tickets sales I’m sure<br />
BS3 will be at full volume.<br />
We welcome <strong>Charlton</strong> <strong>Athletic</strong> to the West Country<br />
this weekend and I’d like to extend our welcome Karen<br />
Hills, her squad, and staff as well as any travelling<br />
Addicks supporters. <strong>Charlton</strong> have been an incredibly<br />
tough opponent for us over my time at the club with<br />
both sets of players going toe-to-toe in every fixture so<br />
far, and I don’t expect any different this time round.<br />
Our group of players have shown their character and<br />
belief time and time again this campaign and none<br />
more so than last week’s long trip to the North East<br />
to take on Sunderland. After a couple of frustrating<br />
fixtures prior to the international break we asked the<br />
players to start fast, and that they did.<br />
A really pleasing element of the performance – bar<br />
the five goals of course – is that we took the game to<br />
Sunderland and pressed them hard out of possession<br />
to impose ourselves on the game. If we’re to come<br />
away with the desired result at Ashton Gate we will<br />
need to replicate that level of energy and performance.<br />
I’d also like to congratulate Ella Powell on her 50th<br />
appearance for the club and a first goal to go with it,<br />
as well as our very own Jazz Bull who also opened her<br />
<strong>City</strong> account.<br />
Just two games remain this season as we come<br />
within touching distance of the goal we have been<br />
working so incredibly hard towards over the last two<br />
years. There have been several challenges that we<br />
have had to tackle along the way, but I cannot fault<br />
the tenacity and desire of the group to keep battling<br />
throughout the rollercoaster journey we have been on.<br />
We face what could our final hurdle at Ashton Gate<br />
and I’ve asked for everything from the players and<br />
staff to ensure we get the job done. But we’ll also need<br />
the whole city of <strong>Bristol</strong> behind us, especially those<br />
who’ll be in the stands.<br />
Stand up, make your voices heard and give everything<br />
you’ve got to push the players over the line!<br />
