Darlington Friends of the Earth is a group
dedicated to protecting the natural world and the
wellbeing of everyone in it. Kendra Ullyart from
the group explains: “We lead campaigns, provide
resources and information and find solutions to the
environmental problems facing us all. Sometimes
it's difficult to know what to do about climate
change and the decline in wildlife.
“A recent venture is a Fix it Cafe every fourth
Saturday 2.30-4.30pm at the Quaker Community
Hub on Skinnergate. People bring items and learn
how to repair them. This saves people buying new
and stops the item going into landfill.
“In association with the Darlington Forest Project
we are growing trees from seed collected locally.
We are looking for volunteers to look after a pack
of trees when they are slightly bigger and water
them for two to three years until they are collected
and ready to plant out.”
The group meets on Zoom on the second
Monday of every month at 7.30pm. Email
darlingtonfriendsoftheearth@gmail.com or find
them on Facebook.
