Blairgowrie & Rattray Hub Magazine Summer 2023

MANTALK is a
local group based
in Blairgowrie,
offering support to
Men of ages 16 and
above, who
may be suffering
various forms of
Mental Health.
Another busy few months for the group, with
several varied activities undertaken including
the Hold Fast Challenge at Willowgate.
This was one of those activities which helps
with the team building between the men of the
group. The weather stayed fair, and everyone
managed to get through the series of tests as
part of the challenge.
We have also had a day at Willowgate doing
Paddle Boarding and Archery.
More recently, some of the men took part in the
Scottish Assault Course at Errol.
Another challenging event, due to the cooler
conditions – not to mention some of the
obstacles on the course, but again with a lot of
team building, all managed to get through the
course.
After much searching and fundraising, and also
with the help of grants from Perth and Kinross
Association of Voluntary Service Ltd (PKAVS),
the Community Investment Fund, and other
sources, the group have managed to purchase a
Minibus, to further help with taking the men of
the group out to activities and days out.
As we move into the summer months, we
are looking forward to our Annual Football
Tournament and Fundraiser, which will be
on the 24 th June at the JJ Coupar Recreation
Ground. Starting at 12 Noon.
There will be raffles, food, Bouncy Castles and
even the return of the ‘Strongman’ competition.
All are welcome to come along, as this is a
family event.
Further ahead, there will also be the Annual trip
to Ben Nevis, this year on the 19 th August.
Times will be confirmed nearer the time, but it
will be an early start.

limited, as again we prioritise the regulars first.
We are also planning out for other events over
the coming months, for the men of the group.
But as always, if we have spaces, will then open
this up to men who don’t regularly come along
to the group.

running of the group more challenging – so

If you are a man aged 16 years and older, and
find yourself needing a platform to talk to
other men, please come along to the group on
Tuesdays, or the Walk on Thursdays.
You don’t need to talk initially, but get a feel for
how the group works, and then when you are
ready, you can share.
Talking is Good, Sharing is Good. Don’t keep it
to yourself.
