June speaker news
The newly formed Bilgola
Plateau Probus Club
reports they have reached a
membership of 84-strong.
They meet at 10am on the
first Friday of every month
at Newport Bowling Club.
The speaker at their next
meeting on Friday 2 June will
be Chris Gotham, volunteer
ambassador from Australian
mental health and well-being
organisation Beyond Blue.
Chris will share his personal
experience of dealing with
depression and his road to

Probus Club meeting will be
Jon Simpson. He will speak
about The Sydney Heritage
Fleet, which he describes as
Sydney’s best kept secret.

Combined Probus Club of
Mona Vale meets the third
Tuesday of each month in the
auditorium at Pittwater RSL
Club (from 10am). On June
20 the guest speaker will be
author Warren Henry. Warren
says he was born curious –
small wonder then that he
includes 24 years as a Private
Investigator in a resume of
careers that have included
wine production, export, film
making, management training
and hospitality. Warren will
be discussing his book, ‘The
Ark in your Pocket’, in which
he addresses a dilemma
facing the modern family:

Ice Skating fun returns
Pittwater RSL’s hugely popular
Ice Skating Spectacular
is returning for a third successive
year, with the Club’s allweather
area to be converted
into a Winter Wonderland
from July 1-16.
Presenting an exciting
experience for the whole family
during the Winter school
holidays, the 225-square-metre
all-ice rink will be open daily,
with ice skating sessions running
for 45 minutes starting
on the hour every hour.
The pop-up rink is the
perfect activity for families,
sporting teams, and corporate
groups looking for a fun and
unique experience.
Children under four years
old must be accompanied by
an adult on the ice, and there
are penguin ice skating aids
available for hire for small
children who need extra assistance.
“We are excited to bring
back the Ice Skating Spectacular
to the Northern Beaches.
After the success of last year’s
event, we wanted to give the
community another chance
to enjoy Pittwater’s leading
services once again” said Club

their guest speaker. Deb’s
trail-blazing career and long
experience in commanding a
range of specialist crime
squads led to her hosting
‘Million Dollar Murders’
for Channel 9. Working
collaboratively with NSW and
Victorian Police and with
$1m reward on offer, the
show aimed to shine a light
on unsolved cases. Visitors

Narrabeen Lakes Sailing Club

local community to help them
write their history so they
