URANUS
BOULEVARD OF
BROKEN DREAMS
Uranus is a future boulevard, near the
center of Bucharest, already planned by
Ceaușescu. The City Hall, who decided
to build it now, is following the dictator’s
plans. Its place is supposed to be between
the Victoriei Square and the Palace of Parliament.
Many old buildings will be or are
have been already destroyed to make room
for the avenue.
The people living there were given money
or were moved at the periphery of Bucharest,
probably in Pantelimon, a not very
friendly neighborhood). In our journey to
discovering stories of the people who were
evacuated from their homes to making
room for a larger street, we have found no
one there.
