Tell us a little about your city
and country in general? Is it as
you imagined? What is/isn’t as
you thought?
One of the most beautiful cities
in the world, Rome is a living
museum with new things to
discover every day. It is rich in
culture and history, not to mention
delicious food. It is easy to travel
and explore Italy from Rome. Rome
is only 24 kilometers from the
seaside, which makes for wonderful
day trips.
What was your own favorite activity/event
last year and why?
A favorite membership activity is always
the annual opening event, the first of the
membership year, and one that enjoys the
highest attendance. It is a moment to reconnect
after the summer, discuss plans for the
upcoming year and enjoy the friendship and
sisterhood that AWAR offers.
What else would you like us to know about
your club? What have we forgotten to ask?
AWAR serves as a resource for its members.
It is a place where members offer each other
support, which can range from asking for a
plumbing reference to seeking career advice.
Our Resources Listserv is an excellent tool for
exchanging information.
Our membership is composed of women from
all different lifestyle, cultural and professional
backgrounds. It is truly a gift to have access to
such an abundance of resources from women
who want to support each other.
As Rome is a city, walking and
driving in the historic center
presents challenges. In addition,
it isn’t always easy to navigate
your way through the Italian
bureaucracy in everyday life. That’s
where AWAR comes in handy as a
support system to help members
face all of these challenges.
Are there any undiscovered gems in your city
and or country?
There are an abundance of undiscovered gems!
The wonderful thing about living in Italy is that
each city/village has its own story and charm.
The country's history is never-ending, and
even the simplest of towns has a significant
importance to the evolution of the country.
The most fascinating thing about Italy is that the
geographical landscape is very rich and varied.
You can spend a day in the beautiful Dolomite
mountains and be on one of the most beautiful
seasides the following day.
Are there any unusual/interesting traditions
or traits of the locals?
Italians are very family-oriented and attached to
their traditions. Their love for food and culture is
inspiring. They have been able to carry forward
traditions for generations. They are very proud
of their birthplace, hometown traditions and
sports teams.
