In addition to its long musical tradition, its fascinating architecture and its unsurpassed gastronomy, it's the remarkable vitality and joy of living that makes this country the perfect place for unforgettable musical projects. Along the lines of St. Francis' blessing that "the Lord may give you peace", we are pleased to welcome choirs from all over the world to Perugia and Assisi for VOICES FOR PEACE – and together send a message into the world that has reached even more importance again in current times. Perugia, founded in the 6th century by the Etruscans, is the largest city in Umbria and - with its fascinating Piazza Grande - one of the most beautiful cities in Italy. Assisi – birthplace of Saint Francis – is a truly magical place that draws its particular character from the reminiscence of Saint Francis, the charming countryside that surrounds the town, and the important witnesses of its thousand-year-old culture. With its two-story basilica, Assisi is one of those rare places that can enable the mind of man to fly high. Join us on VOICES FOR PEACE and spread with us the message of peace among peoples.

wine and food offerings boast an olive oil bestowed with the DOP (Protected Designation<br />

of Origin) mark and a prolific wine growing sector with DOCG and DOC wines (Registered<br />

and Guaranteed Designation of Origin and Registered Designation of Origin) . Its culinary<br />

tradition also includes the esteemed black and white truffles, the exquisite pride of<br />

Italian cuisine, the typical cured meat products of Norcia and many other products that<br />

give Umbrian cooking its unique flavours.<br />

The emotional value of Umbria is reflected in its nature, imagination, cuisine, hospitality,<br />

dynamism but Umbria is above all its people and its history. This is reflected in the<br />

flourishing traditions of wrought iron, woodwork, ceramics and precious fabrics<br />

handicraft industries that have been handed down over the generations. In each period<br />

of the year, prestigious cultural events contribute to enhance the harmonic beauty of the<br />

region, and people can enjoy great music and theatrical festivals in a non-stop calendar<br />

Two Worlds, Umbria Jazz, held in a summer (Perugia) and winter edition (Orvieto), are<br />

included among those not-to be-missed initiatives. Theatre lovers can enjoy the “Teatro<br />

Stabile” season of plays, held in more than a hundred theatres within the region.
