What made you decide to work in law enforcement?
I never grew up wanting to work in law enforcement. I think law
enforcement chose me. When I was working in retail, my co-workers
always told me that I “looked like a cop.” I eventually started working
at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility, then at Jackson State
University where I was certified. I was hired by the Ridgeland Police
Department from JSU in 2000.
How long have you been with a school resource officer
with Madison County?
I started working as a school resource officer for the Ridgeland
Police Department in 2005. I was assigned to Old Town Middle School
from 2005 until 2013. When the school resource officer at Ridgeland
High School (Sgt. Gary Davis) retired, I started working at the
high school.
Tell us about your family.
There’s my lovely wife of 27 years Millicent, and my daughters
Alexandria (33), Cierra (29), and Christina (28).
What is the toughest thing you have experienced in your job?
Whenever one of our students makes a destructive decision that ruins
their life or the lives of others.
Share some things you enjoy doing in your spare time.
Listening to music, watching television, and cooking on the grill.

What are three things on your bucket list?
I’m a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and I’ve been to several of their
regular season road games, but I haven’t made it to Pittsburgh yet for
a regular season game. I’d also like to just travel around the country.
And RETIRE!
Who is someone you admire and why?
I admire my wife and daughters the most. My beautiful daughters
have grown up to be wonderful productive goal oriented young
women. My wife is the glue that holds everything together.
We wouldn’t be where we are today without her.
