Vacuum pump 

The vacuum pump is the heart of the system 

and comes in various sizes. The air tube is 

divided into two parts. One part is installed 

between the vacuum pump and the air filter 

and the other between the air filter and the 

top swivel. 

A suction foot is fitted to the suction head. 

Installation 

The vacuum pump can be mounted in a 

wide variety of places and may only be 

connected by an authorised electrician. 

When in suitable position, connect to the 

power supply. A motor circuit-breaker must 

be fitted and set to the nominal current 

shown on the motor serial plate. 

Check the direction of rotation at the start of 

testing. 

Section one of the air hose is fitted between 

the pump and the air filter. 

Hose clamps should be used. 


Reducing socket 

VM 100/120/140 come with a reducing 

socket, which is placed inside the filter inlet. 

The filter inlet and outlet are marked with an 

arrow.The filter should be fitted where it is 

easy to reach. 

Section two of the air tube is fitted between 

the air filter and the top swivel. Hose clamps 

should be used. The lift tube is suspended 

from the top swivel in the crane system/jib 

crane trolley. The lift unit must hang freely so 

that unnecessary wear is avoided. 

The overhead crane system/jib crane must 

be designed for minimum 1.5 x lifting 

capacity of the lift. 

The suction foot is fitted with two or four 

screws directly to the suction head. 

The touch bolt is fitted with the head of the 

bolt about 10-20 mm below the edge of the 

suction foot. 

With the suction foot for sacks attached, the 

bolt head is installed approximately 10 mm 

above the edge of the suction foot.

Suspension should be adjusted so that the 

suction foot does not reach the floor. Leave 

at least 15 cm free between the floor and 

the lowest part of the suction foot. 

During assembly you must make sure that 

the lift tube can be moved freely and that it 

does not jam or become exposed to 

unnecessary wear. 

Plan the dimensions of the crane system or 

jib crane so that you can work with 

VacuEasylift over the whole handling area. 

Remember that a jib crane is more effective 

if the lifting equipment is more often used at 

the outer part of the jib arm. 

Make sure that the crane system/jib crane is 

horizontal so that the lift tube does not move 

laterally by its own weight. 

The filter has a control valve to reduce the 

lifting speed when handling light loads. 

Balance the unit with and without load to a 

convenient level for the operator. This 

ensures that the control handle is within 

comfortable reach. 

1. Always balance the unit WITH LOAD first. 

Loosen the lock nut and turn the screw 

carefully until the balance position is reached. 

Adjust until balance is achieved. 

2. Proceed to balance WITHOUT LOAD. 

Loosen the lock nut and turn the screw 

carefully until the balance position is reached. 

Adjust until balance is achieved. 

If the load adjustment screws on your unit 

resemble the illustrations below, please follow 

instructions on unit. 

Operating instructions 

Move the lift tube so that it can be placed 

directly over the load. Lower the suction foot 

towards the load by pressing the operating 

handle downwards. Allow the suction foot to 

grip the load. Lift the load by squeezing the 

operating handle upwards. Lift the load to 

required position and lower it by pressing the 

operating handle down. The suction foot is 

released from the load by pressing the 

operating handle right to the bottom. 


Maintenance 

VacuEasylift is a very safe product to operate 

but needs regular inspection. 

Check for mechanical wear on the lift and 

air tube. 

The air filters (filter unit and suction foot) 

should be cleaned at regular intervals. A 

suitable interval depends on what has been 

lifted, the amount of air pollution, and the 

size of the air filter. Empty the filter insert and 

container and clean carefully using reduced 

compressed air. Replace rubber gaskets 

properly when finished. 

It is important that the gasket is fitted 

correctly. Check the suction foot’s rubber 

gasket for wear. 

It is very important that all overhead systems 

are regularly inspected. Here are some 

suggestions to help you with inspections: 

Check that trolleys run smoothly, both with 

and without a load. 

Check that the bolts and pins are not worn 

and that they are in the right place. 

Other overhead systems may have other 

inspection points and procedures. Failure to 

follow the safety regulations could result in 

personal injuries. Refer to separate manuals 

for these systems. 

The swivel contains a non-return valve, 

which automatically closes in the event of 

power failure. The load sinks to the ground 

in a controlled manner. 

To ensure function, the non-return valve 

must be tested at the same intervals as filter 

cleaning.

Accessories 

VacuEasylift can be delivered with extra 

accessories. 

Large air filter. A larger air filter is needed 

in areas where there is an increased level of 

air pollution. 

Quick release. In order to make 

VacuEasylift more flexible, you can fit a quick 

release system on the suction head and the 

suction foot. 

Silencing cover. In some workplaces, there 

is a need to reduce the sound level. The 

sound cover conceals the pump and restricts 

engine noise. 

Lift tube cover. The lift tube cover is used to 

reduce wear on the lifting hose. 

Remote control. Use the remote control to 

start and stop the vacuum pump. 

Angle adapter. The angle adapter allows the 

suction foot to swing 90º from a vertical 

gripping position to a horisontal unloading 

position. 

Bottom swivel. The difference between the 

top swivel (which is standard on all models) 

and the bottom swivel (which is an accessory) 

is that the top swivel rotates the complete lift 

unit 360º and the bottom swivel rotates the 

suction foot and the load only. 


WARNING! 

The operator must be trained on the 

product. 

All instructions in the manual must be 

followed. 

A motor circuit breaker must be used. 

The overhead system must be installed by 

qualified technicians and all safety 

instructions must be followed. 

When in operation the operator must not 

place his head above the unit. 

When in operation the operator must not be 

under a hanging load. 

Maintenance instructions must be followed. 

Service record must be accessible for 

inspection.

Use only original TAWI parts. 

The touch bolt must not be removed. 

The SWL (max lifting capacity) must not be 

exceeded. 

The operator must use two hands when 

handling the unit. 

The lift tube must be used only in a vertical 

position. 

Use vacuum power only to handle the load. 

All connections and parts must be checked 

regularly for wear, including all parts 

connecting the overhead system and the 

unit. 

The vacuum pump must not be taken apart. 

The electric installations must be carried out 

by a qualified electrician. 

A load must never be left hanging for an 

extended period of time. This can cause the 

vacuum pump to overheat. 

Any modifications to the product must be 

carried out by qualified TAWI technicians. 

Troubleshooting 

If the VacuEasylift will not lift: 

Use a vacuum testing plate to find the 

problem! 

1. Check the weight of the load. It must not 

exceed the rated SWL of the unit. Test the 

unit with a light load using a non-porous 

surface e.g. a steel plate. Check, and if 

necessary clean the air filter. 

YES - Go to 3 

2. Has the vacuum pump started? 

NO - Start the pump. If it still does not work, 

a qualified electrician must check the pump. 

3. Check the direction of rotation of the 

vacuum pump. Is air blowing from the 

silencer? 

YES - Go to 4. 

NO . Change two phases over. This must be 

carried out by a qualified technician. 

4. Is there any air leakage between the 

vacuum pump and the air filter? 

NO - Go to 5. 

YES - Tighten the clamps and, if necessary 

change the air tube. 

5. Is there any air leakage from the filter 

unit? 

NO - Go to 6. 

YES - Check the rubber seal underneath the 

lid of the filter unit. Close the bleed-off valve 

on the lid of the filter unit. 

6. Is there any air leaking from the air tube 

between the top swivel and the filter unit? 

NO - Go to 7. 

YES - Tighten the clamps and, if necessary 

change the air tube. 

7. Check the lift tube for wear and damage. 

This must be done with the tube extended to 

its maximum length. 

NO - Go to 8 

YES - Change the lift tube. 


8. Is the suction foot fitted correctly, and, if 

supplied, is the quick-release coupling OK? 

YES - Go to 9. 

NO - The suction foot should be removed 

and refitted. Do not overtighten the fixing 

screws. Problems can occur because the 

screws are undertightened or overtightened. 

Overtightening may deform the top of the 

suction foot. 

9. Is the rubber gasket on the suction foot 

damaged or worn? 

NO - Go to 10. 

YES - Change the gasket. 

10. Call your dealer for a service visit.

VACUEASYLIFTs 

HANDLING HEAVY 

LOADS: 

This VacuEasylift will perform provided 

that all instructions are followed 

carefully. 

Handling heavy weights in a safe 

manner means that extra care must be 

taken. 

We urge you to do so and waive all 

responsibility should that not be the 

case. 

1. Installation must be carried out by a 

certified installer and TAWI assumes no 

responsibility for installation and 

overheadmaterial. 

2. Only operators who received special 

training may run the VacuEasylift. 

3. Specified maximum lifting height and 

capacity must never be exceeded. 

4. No one must ever position himself 

below a hanging load. 

5. Protective shoewear must be used 

when operating the VacuEasylift. 

6. The unit must be checked before use. 

In addition to the rules above, all other 

instructions in the manual must be 

followed. 

You are now handling a heavy load, 

which can cause serious bodily 

injuries. Take extra care. 

A TAWI representative must check and 

approve installation before it is taken in 

use. 

WEEKLY INSPECTION: 

During the first 4 weeks, once a week, 

a TAWI representative is to be given free 

access to check the units and meet the 

operators.

Lubrication 

The following applies in connection with normal operating conditions (suction and ambient 

temperatures 40 degrees C max and permissible total differential pressure): After 

approximately 20.000 hours of operation, however after 2.5 years at the latest, the rollingcontact 

bearings and adjacent spaces should have the spent grease removed and refilled 

with fresh grease. About 50% of the free space in the rolling-contact bearings and about 

65% of the adjacent grease spaces should be filled with grease. Only UNIREX N3 grease 

(ESSO) should be used. 

IMPORTANT! 

A filter 10921 or 10927 must always be connected in front of the vacuum pump inlet 

pipe. 

A motor protection circuit breaker must be used, set to the nominal motor current. 

Connection of the three (3)-phase motor 

The rated voltage of the motor must 

correspond to the line-to-line voltage 

of the system. Check the motor serial 

plate to assure that the voltage and 

frequency correspond to those of the 

electrical supply. Instructions to 

connect the motor in star connection 

or delta connection are on the inside 

of the terminal box lid. 

Minimum cable area: 1.5 mm2
