PODCAST WITH PURPOSE: Neighbours and friends Nicola and Di have
gone global with their down-to-earth chats.

guest and the duo have yet to
even tap into the contacts of
Nicola’s partner of four years
Richard Wilkins.
“Richard said a few words
at the launch party… he said
‘I’ve got to give it to these
ladies they’ve done it completely
on their own’. And we
have,” says Di.
“We’ll get him on the show
at some paint,” says Nicola.
“I’ll give him such a hard
time!” laughs Di.
While plenty of women in
their 20s, 30s and 40s are
doing podcasts, it’s rarer to
find women in their 50s and
upwards. To Nicola and Di
“age is just a number”. Jane
Fonda and Bette Middler are
just two of the names they’d
love to chat to ‘over the fence’,
and both agree that some
women are doing amazing
things against all odds as
they get older.
“The older I get I just feel
gratitude that we’re at this
age,” says Nicola. “Some people
never even get to where
we are.”
“And some people don’t
have a sense of purpose
anymore,” adds Di. “The kids
have gone and they’re treading
water – we can hopefully
help them find that purpose.”
“We’re Palm Beach women,”
Nicola sums up. “Our kids
went to Palm Beach kindy and
Avalon schools, we share a
back fence… we’re two local
ladies who have started a
thing that’s going global.”
