Page 2 of 2 GF-156 The LPLP01 will monitor the gas line pressure and will disable the gas valve if the line pressure drops below acceptable levels. This kit provides control over the gas valve by routing the gas valve wiring through the supplied pressure switch. To enable proper fit-up, the pressure switch kit must be installed before connecting the gas supply line to the gas valve. For new unit installations, the kit hardware may be fitted to the gas valve while the gas manifold is removed for LP gas orifice conversion. For existing installations, the gas line must be disconnected from the gas valve to allow fitting of kit hardware. Note: All threaded connections must be sealed with Teflon tape or pipe sealant. Pipe sealant must be approved for use with propane gas. Troubleshooting If the furnace fails to light after installation of the LP low pressure switch kit, proceed as follows: Remove jumper harness from gas valve and gas valve wiring. Reconnect furnace wiring harness to gas valve. Will furnace light? YES With gas supply on, measure resistance between terminals of LP low pressure switch. Are switch contacts closed? YES Check jumper harness circuits for continuity. Continuity checks OK on jumper harness? YES Reconnect jumper harness. Check jumper harness connections. NO Problem does not involve the LP low pressure switch. Reconnect LP low pressure switch jumper harness. Check gas supply gas valve wiring, etc. NO Is line pressure above 7.0" w.c.? NO NO YES Replace faulty LP low pressure switch. Reconnect jumper harness. Jumper harness problem. Correct insufficent gas line pressure problem. Reconnect jumper harness.

TO: All <strong>Service</strong> and Parts Managers DATE: April 26, 2002 NO: GF-155 SUBJECT: Reduction in Clearances to Combustible Material for Amana 40” 80% & 90% Furnaces Amana has obtained IAS/AGA/CGA agency approval to reduce the minimum allowable clearances to combustible material for our 40” 80% and 90% furnace lines. In the case of our 80% furnace line, the “Front” clearance has been reduced from 6 inches to 5 inches for Closet applications, the “Top” clearance has been reduced from 6 inches to 1 inch for Alcove installations, and the “Front” clearance reduced from 3 inches to 1 inch for Closet applications when type B-1 vent connector is used. For our 90% furnace line, the “Top” clearance has been reduced from 6 inches to 4 inches for Alcove installations and the “Front” clearance reduced from 3 inches to 1 inch for Closet applications. Other clearances to combustibles (sides, back, etc.) will remain unchanged.
