The Final Holiday Sales Push
AS retailers, December is the month that we have all dreamed
of. The culmination of our dreams and hopes of doing a booming
holiday business is at hand. There is nothing more exciting than
having geared up for holiday sales and reaping the rewards of your
hard work and marketing skills.
EVEN the most seasoned retailer cannot help but feel the
excitement of the season. I have always likened this season to a
horse race. You know you will eventually pass the finish line, but
in what place? How large will the payoff be? It’s enough to keep all
of us on the edge of our sleighs!
THE success that we will all achieve this season has been very well
deserved. We have been through, and continue to endure some
rough market conditions. The ups-and-downs of the economy,
stagnant wages and high inflation coupled with overseas conflicts
has affected all of our businesses and lives. No matter what, we will
persevere and cross that finish line.
AT this time of year, it is so meaningful for all of us to take stock
in our business and personal lives and be thankful for the blessings
that we all have. The retailers and wholesalers in our industry are
a special group. We realize the challenges and changes in our
marketplace and react quickly and adapt to them. In the electronic
age our industry changes faster than ever before as fads are
broadcast around the world in record time. In the old days it would
take time for hot items to go from the west coast to east coast. No
longer. Fads fade in and out faster than ever and we are constantly
forced to reinvent the wheel to keep up.
ENJOY your holiday. Revel in the sales you have made. The
amount of income you have earned is a direct result of your effort
and dedication you have given to your business. Soon, we can
close down our stores for a quick holiday break, knowing that we
have worked hard and made our customers and loved ones happy.
ON behalf of our staff at Forum Publishing, I would like to wish
everyone a happy and healthy holiday season. We’re in our 43rd
year of servicing the wholesale/retail industry and proud to serve
such a strong and determined readership. We wish you the best for
the upcoming year and have many surprises planned for the New
Year and happy to have you be a part of it.
