SAASER PONSCHEGGLA –
A CARNIVAL TRADITION
At carnival time, the people of Saas bake an exceptional pastry:
the Saaser Ponscheggla. In the past, the traditional pastry
consisted only of rye bread, sugar, schnapps and white wine.
Today, molasses, jam or other secret ingredients are often added.
Almost every family has its own recipe, which usually
stays in the family. Asja Zurbriggen from Saas-Grund told us
her recipe.
