themselves heading towards the same
destination.
One example of this successful
teamwork: A U-flaker by Pallmann, a
Siempelkamp subsidiary, was taken
into operation at wood panel producer
Jiangsu Huidian New Materials in June
2023. This is the Siempelkamp Group’s
third U-flaker for the market in China,
with two others already producing at
wood-based panel plants in Guangxi
and Shandong provinces.

According to Siempelkamp, the Asian
market in particular sees the U-flaker
concept as an ideal solution to the
high value placed on hybrid board
production. These hybrid boards
combine a core layer that consists of
long and particularly thin flakes with
a thin surface layer consisting of fine
flakes. Pallmann’s U-flaker is said to
have set “new standards” for the quality
of this type of board, because the highquality
flakes create a positive impact
on the board properties. Furthermore,
the U-flaker allows wood with small
trunk diameters to be used, making
efficient use of resources. Large savings
in raw materials can consequently
contribute to competitiveness in pricesensitive
markets.

Siempelkamp’s teams from Germany
and China jointly contributed their
knowledge to the project to send the
third U-flaker on its way to Jiangsu
Huidian New Materials. The know-how
of Pallmann’s size-reduction specialists,
with accompanying support from
colleagues in Krefeld and Qingdao,
played a leading role here. As a result,
the plant’s performance, product quality
and local support were all “highly
praised” by the customer, as reported by
Siempelkamp.
SIEMPELKAMP’S PROFILE IN CHINA
What responses has Siempelkamp
received regarding its involvement
in the Chinese market? The company
reports that feedback of their booth at
WMF was “unanimously positive”. The
Field Service Team, newly established
and trained for the Chinese market
at the Qingdao site following the
pandemic, is particularly appreciated.
Additionally, Siempelkamp’s specialists

can speak their customers’ language,
are familiar with the market’s special
aspects and requirements, and are able
to translate Siempelkamp’s German
standards into the Chinese market’s
