I inquired how Chief Taylor, and his
department, initially became involved
with On Patrol Live. He explained that
it has been a “crazy journey.” Some
of the department’s YouTube videos
were sent to On Patrol Live and
he was contacted by a producer for
more information and a friendship
was born. Approximately two or three
months later following a meeting in
which the producer flew from New
York City to Hazen to complete a
ride along, an agreement to feature
the agency was made. The producer
wanted to show the nation a true
example of small-town community
policing. A few months later, On Patrol
Live showed up for the 100th anniversary
episode and the rest is history.
Since this time, Chief Taylor has
traveled to New York City and the On
Patrol Live studio as a featured guest
law enforcement officer and host. It
was a huge success and an exciting
first-time trip to NYC for him and his
wife, Michelle. They enjoyed some of
the best the city has to offer and have
high hopes that they will visit again
soon.
Chief Taylor remains a bit amazed at
his popularity, “It’s been a big surprise
because I’m just being me. I know
there’s a ton of law enforcement officers
just like me out there just doing
what I do. I just be me. Being who I
am daily is what got me here, don’t
change.”
