or cold out in a well-insulated
home.
After the walk-thru’s with both
Marc and Mike, we did find some
issues that needed to be corrected.
Gas lines that needed to
be connected, and AC lines that
needed to be secured and tucked
properly in the framed walls to
insure they do not contact interior
walls. (This is an extremely
important issue in new homes.
The main condensate cooling
line that runs from your outside
compressor to the AC unit in the
attic must be properly wrapped
in insulation to prevent moisture
from forming inside your walls.
Improperly insulated pipe, or
pipe that has contact with the inside
of drywall, can lead to mold
growing inside these walls.)
Mike assured me this would
be addressed, and we’ll be sure
and follow-up on that in future
inspections.
While there is certainly nothing
wrong with buying a new home
after it has been constructed, it
is certainly more reassuring to
see the home progress through
the various stages and ask
questions along the way. This is
an excellent opportunity to see
where all the electrical plugs
are going and, in my case, add
a plug or two here and there.
(For a few extra bucks, but well
worth it).
Seems pretty straight forward,
so why the stress? My
experience building-out interior
lease spaces for the various
projects I’ve been involved in
over the years, there is a correct
sequence of installations that
need to take place before the
next crew comes in. Installing a
Straps and anchors are required by Texas Windstorm
regulations in Galveston County.
