RAY NOLEN
Major Ray Nolen is a dedicated
law enforcement professional with
an impressive career spanning
over three decades. He began his
journey with the Galveston County
Sheriff’s Office in June 1991 as a
Reserve Deputy while also working
full-time for the City of La Porte.
After 32 years of service, he retired
as the Chief of EMS, leaving behind
a legacy of excellence.
Major Ray Nolen’s career in law
enforcement and public service

and serving his community.
Throughout his tenure, he has acquired
a wealth of experience and
expertise in various areas.
As the Chief of EMS for the City
of La Porte, Major Nolen played a

as a board member for the College
of the Mainland - Police Academy
Program, where he contributes to

professionals. Major Nolen’s
involvement with the Galveston
County Crisis Incident Stress Management
Team demonstrates his
commitment to supporting and assisting
law enforcement individuals
in times of crisis.
Major Nolen’s impact extends
beyond his daily duties. He wrote a
grant for Operation Lone Star, securing
State of Texas funding of $3.1
million to assist with South Texas
Border security in Kinney County. His
proactive efforts have ensured that
agencies in Galveston County can
provide much-needed assistance at
the border.
Outside of his professional commitments,
Major Nolen has taken
on leadership roles in community
organizations. He served as President
of the Rotary Club, where he
worked alongside fellow members
to carry out impactful projects and
initiatives. Additionally, he held the
position of President of the Heritage
Society, contributing to the preservation
and celebration of the rich
history and heritage of his community.
Major Nolen’s personal life is
equally fulfilling. He resides in
League City with his wife Michelle,
creating a loving and supportive
home environment. Together, they
have raised three children and are
proud grandparents to four grandchildren.
