In recent years, soy-based foods have received a<br />
bad rap in terms of healthy choices due to rumors<br />
associating it with breast cancer.<br />
Soy-based foods were believed to cause breast<br />
cancer because they contain phytoestrogen, which<br />
is similar to estrogen. (1)<br />
Researchers have linked endogenous estrogen to<br />
the development breast cancer. (1)<br />
More specifically, studies were performed on rats,<br />
which showed evidence that soy could cause cancer.<br />
This study, however, proved to be invalid, since rats<br />
process soy differently than humans. (2)<br />
Soy: Misinterpreted<br />
This misinterpretation resulted in soy-based<br />
products getting a negative spotlight.<br />
