“La traviata is one of the first operas
I fell in love with, my first full opera
production as an assistant conductor.
It is still one of the most exciting and
heart-rending pieces I know. From the
very first notes, we sense that tragedy
will ensue. The opera swings between
huge, thrilling party scenes and
incredibly intimate, fragile moments.
It is always an exciting challenge
to bring these contrasts to life in
performance. It feels particularly
fitting that my INO debut is in this
opera, in the same theatre where
I first worked on it.”
